He wouldn't build a team, he'd just overlevel his Charizard and try to brute force his way to winning. Two core memories I have of him was him losing his shit over constantly losing to Lorelei's Lapras during the elite four and once having a link cable battle with him where he insisted he would win even though it was his Charizard vs my Blastoise. Needless to say he pulled the link cable out before the battle ended in rage and started tearing up. Every time I see someone bitch about water types now I think of him because his Charizard would constantly struggle against them.
