is there actually a good fakemon that could pass as real in a pokemon game. Every single one I've seen looks like crap.

you clearly haven't seen many fakemon then. Go look at some of the previous threads.

when i first saw this turtle fakemon, i was out of the loop for pokemon for a few gens and it looked real to me. it looks more like a pokemon than drednaw
>>
>>59164880
Weird. I like this one, but I dislike the nearest counterpart among the official Pokémon. Maybe it would look worse as a 3d model.

Mega Flygon
Type: Ground/Dragon
Ability: Arena Trap
HP: 80
ATK: 160 (+60)
DEF: 110 (+30)
SpATK: 110 (+30)
SpDEF: 110 (+30)
SPD: 50 (-50 like Mega Scolipede)
>>
>>59165006
With a few tweaks, it could work as a Drednaw evo

Here's one of the regional bird lines for Plum/Bamboo's dex. It's a version exclusive to Bamboo. You see, each version takes place in a specific season, winter in the case of Bamboo's. As such, Plum will take place in the summer. So, what would sound like a good basis for pic related's Plum-exclusive counterpart?
>>
#KillDavid
>>
>>59165787
ovenbird -> firehawk -> harpy's eagle
could throw in some south american facepaint motifs to mirror the winterwear look of this fella. Could also have this line carry a tool.
>>
>>59165853
Sounds good...
But I was thinking of something that fits the setting which is Kitakami.

I like when exclusive counterparts are known to be direct rivals, like Zangoose/Seviper, even if the typings don't clash. Maybe some sort of bug type or maybe even a beachy themed water type could be cool. I really like the designs for your bird
>>
>>59165949
Thanks. Also, there will be 2 regional bug lines that are also version exclusives.
Plum: Cicada
Bamboo: Woolly aphids (referred to as “snow bugs” in Japan)

mons of a region don't need to fit it perfectly. kangaroo in kanto etc etc
you could look at the ainu for inspo maybe if you want to then

Cuckoo (Hototogisu)
Nightjar (Yotaka)
Bush Warbler (Uguisu)
Japanese Paradise Flycatcher (Sankouchou - pic related)

Too close to Scizor and other UBs and doesn't follow the UB design formula the best

Not much to misunderstand, I would think. It's "what if pokemon but american".

Cuckoo - Normal/Flying
Nightjar - Dark/Flying
Paradise flycatcher - Psychic/Flying

And yes, the snow bird is Ice/Flying (the evolutions at least)
>>
>>59167001
After some thinking, I'm going cross out the nightjar, since Hoothoot is going to be in the dex.

>only firenant evolves twice
>presto and glubbo barely change compared to their first stage, but the same is true between firenack and firenout
At that point why not just have all 3 starters be two-stage lines? You can remove firenack, make firenant evolve directly into firenout, and then use that empty slot to give spyder a proper evo. Also
>spyder is literally just spinarak
But I love that color scheme, reminds me of how halloween decorations look under ultraviolet light.

Parstic, creace and skulder are fucking kino. Flychomp is genuinely better than carnivine.

Wdym, it looks nothing like Samurott? Is it because it has whiskers?

Sometimes I don't like coming to these threads as I'll see a cool fakemon that immediately invalidates something I was going to work on.

Like I wanted a zebra muscle fakemon. So I was thinking of a regional Shellder with a black and white shell. Evolves into a clump of Shellder in the vague shape of a knight, big shell for a shield and a tongue as a sword. But then I see something like this in one of the threads that does the idea, but better! I can't pretend I haven't seen this, and any attempt to go back to the drawing board and redesign my idea just looks like it.
Same with the regional Spearow that evolves into a crane. Love the idea, wish I had come up with it independently.

Dokurashi, the Prickly Pin Pokémon.
The quills that cover this Pokémon are tipped with a deadly neurotoxin. As such, even Ursaring steer clear from it.
>>
>>59167201
multiple designs based on the same concept is a good thing, not a bad thing. Just go for it. Two cakes.
>>
>>59167196
The silhouette is very very close in multiple places
>>
>>59167000
Literally just Darkrai for the final form
>>
>>59167377

It has whiskers, a pointy snout and is quadrupedal, that’s kind of where the similarities start and end. The actual silhouette is completely different.

These are two of my Mightyena cross-gen evo concepts.
The first one by BastionPhoenix was originally Dark/Ground, but I felt it was way too close to Krookodile functionally.
The second one by an_artist_astray was originally pure Dark, but I wanted to give it a secondary typing.
So I made some edits to the designs to give them different secondary typings.
Which redesign do you all like best, and which typing do you think is more fitting?
>Dark/Rock
This one is actually unedited. Rock just worked as an easy substitution for Ground.
Dark/Rock is only used by Tyranitar. The combo sucks on paper, but would it be good on a ~100 Speed attacker?
>Dark/Steel
Turned the bones into steel plating. I really like the jaw with this one since hyenas have insane bite strength.
It also works thematically since hyenas are highly resistant to diseases, and Steel is immune to Poison.
>Dark/Fairy
Closest to the original, just changed the tint on the red fur and made it glow a bit. Would actually glow in-game when attacking, too.
Hyenas are nocturnal hunters, Fairy is associated with the moon, and the inspiration is the folklore/fairy tale of the Beast of Gévaudan.
>Dark/Poison
Hyenas are also scavengers that eat carrion. What if eating enough tainted mean allowed it to harness that "tainted" part as a typing?
Would also play well into how hyenas are resistant to diseases, and Poison resists Poison, plus it would absorb Toxic Spikes.

All four concepts would swap the Quick Feet ability for Strong Jaw, since hyenas have crazy bite strength and Mightyena knows plenty of biting moves.
And to pair with the new ability, all would get a signature biting move that matches its secondary typing for a new STAB option. Open to suggestions there.

Open to discussion on which concept you all think is best, or if you have other suggestions.
