I juat replayed Pokemon Black and Black 2 back to back. B/W are superior in almost every way. The only advantages thr sequels have are the PWT and the fact that the game asks you if you want to use another repel when the first one wears off. Aside from that, the characters are all dumb as shit and direct downgrades to the B/W.

Name something great about BW2 that isn't mentioning postgame or buzzwords like soul or effort.

If you're refraining from reccomending BW2 to someone because they haven't played BW1, then story is the only reason for this behavior

They’re the best games in the franchise, which is why Unova fans immediately start making excuses for all the content the game doesn’t have when you ask them how they’re the best games in the franchise

BW are the most playable/replayable games in the series
>>
>>59165261
Sure, before you even beat the game you've got a couple fun things to do on the side. Join Avenue is nice to build up, Funfest Missions take advantage of the overworld exploration element of the main gameplay loop in a way that's even interesting solo, Pokestar Studios has a few nice puzzle battles, and PWT provides bad Battle Factory and good Japanese Pokemon Stadium content. If you want to take a break from the main story there's a lot of dynamic and interesting content.
>>
>>59165354
BW is the only good game in the franchise. The rest are mediocre RPGs at best that don't do anything interesting with its concepts.
>>
>>59164975
This but there's one exception for the characters. Cheren becoming the 1st Gym Leader is just the perfect capstone of his character arc from the first game.
>>
>>59164975
Colress alone mogs everyone from BW1
>>
>>59164934
After the intro the cutscenes are rarely Gen 7 level bad (mostly because the movement between text is snappy and one of the characters who yaps the most has higher text speed), but holy shit the intro is fucking miserable, like Skyward Sword levels of completely unnecessarily restrictive. Thank fucking god they didn't keep that going for the rest of the game, it's just average JRPG interruptions from that point on. That's understandably not everyone's taste given how little of that Pokemon has before in spite of being a JRPG, but man Gen 7 is fucking miserable about it and doesn't even have the ability to skip cutscenes which was starting to become standard in the early 2010's and was basically unacceptable when SM came out (let alone the Switch titles). It's a shame Gen 7 would actually be fun to replay without them.

It made his character arc actually have a conclusion that made sense, instead of just kind of leaving it hanging in a really vague way. Like he could have been a number of things and it would be a good capstone (even having him join Interpol would have been mildly workable), it's not like Binaca where if you paid attention you'd know exactly what she'd be doing in B2W2.
>>

>it's not like Binaca where if you paid attention you'd know exactly what she'd be doing in B2W2.
And yet she was not in my house at the start of BW2
>>
>>59165477
I unironically agree, but i don't think you can say that here seriously
>>59165523
Eh, Colress and Hugh are great, but the overall story doesn't match BW
>>
>>59165580
BW's story literally has strawman villains the entire time, the only thing it does differently is focuses on it. Someone like Cyrus is written better than Ghetsis or even N. Ghetsis is just OoT Ganondorf, an obviously bad guy who LUSTS for POWER, you can predict immediately from the outset that N was just being gaslit by him. B2W2 actually shows that there's a side of Team Plasma that DOES care for abused and abandoned Pokémon compared to when it was just N and maybe his nearly non-existent sisters

Team Galactic's grunts are the standard bad guys, but Cyrus is just using them, they're not going into his new world, they're a means to an end. What Cyrus says is technically correct, the imperfect human spirit leads to conflict and suffering. Cyrus is an autist who was left in rooms of machines growing up, he failed to develop human connections and thus made an incomplete conclusion on how to fix things. He didn't recognize the value of spirit because that value was never present in his life. His grandfather feels pity for him, but he's given an ending where he's left in a world without spirit as he himself rages. It's handled surprisingly well. And the implication that Mars followed him because she had feelings for him is the cherry on top. And I also like it when Saturn realizes Cyrus' goals after the fact and disavows them.

Literally why not? The story is a downgrade from the first and there's hardly anything to it. People should have no problem playing it.

>Ghetsis is just OoT Ganondorf, an obviously bad guy who LUSTS for POWER
Like Kefka Palazzo from FFVI, but he's one of the most beloved videogame villains
>B2W2 actually shows that there's a side of Team Plasma that DOES care for abused and abandoned Pokémon compared to when it was just N and maybe his nearly non-existent sisters
BW1 already has good grunts, but the problem with the writing is that those few grunts only appear at N's Castle
>Cyrus is an autist who was left in rooms of machines growing up, he failed to develop human connections and thus made an incomplete conclusion on how to fix things.
I agree but that's Platinum only, if BW2 fixed BW story a little, so Platinum did with DP

SOS Battles make catching Pokémon a nightmare.
Some people don't like cutscenes being in a JRPG.

The real problem is the game is extremely handholdy and linear and railroaded, far more than any previous mainline Pokémon game, and it feels insulting to play, like they see you as stupider than the kids who first played Gen I. You'll always have your town map on your bottom screen with a marker showing your destination, and your Pokédex will actually talk to you and remind you to do it if you aren't doing it. Remember the guy in Pewter City who blocked Route 3 until you beat Brock? Well it's like that the entire game every time you make any sort of progress. Hau or Lillie or the Stoutland girl or Tauros or Olivia or painted gates or whoever will constantly remind you not to go on ahead, you have to do every little unskippable cutscene one by one in a specific order, like the game expects that you'll get lost walking down the completely straight path otherwise. If you didn't actually care about any of the overworlds in any Pokémon games or doing stuff on your own separate from the story, it won't bug you. But for me it was one of the most insulting games I played and killed my interest in Game Freak's stuff going forward, since elements of this had been creeping its way into the games for years by this point. And SwSh is more of the same, except even more rushed with almost nothing for dungeons. Straight paths are a lack of game design except when it's something like a daycare route that gives you a long path to hatch eggs.

thank you, about time someone mentioned the actual Trinity, without including Sinnoh garbage
