Infernape is better. Infernape has better gameplay. In DPPT it could run physical, Nasty Plot, Stealth Rocks sets, even got Slack Off. Blaziken is not nearly as deep and needed a poorly thought out ability to compete. Meanwhile in Gen 3 no one takes chicken over Swampert.
Even people running the franchise seem to think Blaziken is fugly because May in the anime didn't get it until that season was right about to end lmao.

There are a grand total of 5 water types you can encounter underwater and all of them are shitmons that don't threaten Blaziken. Team Aqua grunts use Carvanah and admins/Archie use Sharpedo, neither of which use water moves and die to a single attack anyway. Blaziken does just fine in Hoenn.
