I respect people who like cool/edgy mons and people who like cute mons because they seem earnest and genuine about their preference.

On the other hand, people who like weird and goofy mons have a phony ironic air about them that I find detestable and evil.

Seeing someone enjoy a goofy Mon always somehow endears it more to me. Like alright, I remember thinking it was lame as a kid, but seeing someone enjoy it makes me realize it's not so bad and I shouldn't take things so seriously.
Every Pokemon has a little bit of that in them after all. I remember wanting every Pokemon to look edgier when I was a kid, but I know now that the way they're designed is more timeless.
