I think they thought the ultra recon squad would be a little looker/ distortion world story change given the Platinum comparison. It just backfired because SM Lusamine was way more emotionally and motivational involved with the story than say Cyrus, and the change they’re referring made REALLY changed her emotional/ motivational involvement in the story.On a side note, I think the small change they’re referring to is the ultra recon squad showing up and filling Lusamine in about ultra space before the game starts. Lusamine gets cut off from going completely bonkers stewing over ultra space speculations/ remembering Mohn was “killed” by ultra space This leads to slightly abusive savior complex Lusamine who wants to save everyone from Necrozma instead of outright abusive Lusamine who wants her kids to fuck off so she can live in the crack dimension.
