Exalted Edition>I want to learn the game, where do I begin?Download PTCGL at https://tcg.pokemon.com/en-us/tcglThe game has a quick tutorial and a bunch of decent decks to get you started against other beginners or against the AI. Some of those decks are very close to meta too. You can also go to your local game store and see if people are playing Pokémon.>I know how to play, how do I make my own deck? You have a decent beginner's guide at https://www.justinbasil.com/guideThere's also the old /tcg/ guide at https://imgur.com/a/W4NkOu6After that, look up meta decks and try to reverse engineer them to see how things work.>Where to find meta decks? For big irl events, go to https://limitlesstcg.com/decksFor online events, go to https://play.limitlesstcg.com/decks?game=PTCGFor japanese events, go to https://pokecabook.com/archives/1417Previous thread: >>59169923Old /tcg/ pastebin: https://pastebin.com/Ge95YuMARotation:March 26th for online and April 10th for physical.https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-news/2026-pokemon-tcg-standard-format-rotation-announcement
Reposting from previous thread as it was endingAs someone who wants to start playing the tcg as a total beginer (have played TCG pocket and some of the TCG live app), what are the best beginer friendly and meta relevant decks right now?, or just decks that are good enough. So I can start looking for the individual cards I might not have (I have opened some perfect order and ascended heroes packs already)
2nd for a derpy
>>59188567I'm not really sure why either. Like nothing pre-rotation handled retreat locking.I think it's just because a lot of the good decks are now dead that didn't care about it and we are left with decks that need all these bench sitters/decks that just run like shit.
>>59188666Also feels like deck space is somehow more cramped than ever, which probably relates to what you said about utilitymons that just sit on the bench. Like, I'd LIKE to run a Switch or a Surfer, but where the fuck am I supposed to find space for that? Losing Arven and having to cope with Petrel hurts a lot too.
I'm glad Mega Darkrai is shit because I hate the design. They turned my cool nightmare ghost into Violet Beauregarde. I don't have to worry about playing it now.
Hold the olives.
I hope they print another Turo or Penny or SOMETHING into the fucking format.
>>59188628I wanted to buy some Pokémon trading cards but some obese incel who was half my height just threw all of the trading cart boxes into his cart and bought them all before I could get a pack at my local Walmart.I then went to a smaller hobby shop, but the same fat incel was there too and bought all trading card packs. One of the packs fell out of his cart so I wanted to buy that one, but a child with a Pokémon T-shirt and hat was crying because there were no trading card packs anymore so I gave him the last pack.So yeah, that's why I can't buy any new Pokémon trading cards anymore.
>>59189256Both my local Target and card store have plenty of Perfect Order, and Perfect Order is going near MSRP on TCGPlayer. Seems like a personal issue. Why do you retards even bother posting when your posts are so easily debunked anyways?
>>59189274Anon, he clearly wanted to buy in person.
>>59189280Yea but why? Also, a couple of weeks ago I walked into a fucking 7-Eleven and bought half a box of Perfect Order for $7/pack. This shit is so easy to get. Why are schizos so retarded?
>>59189283>Yea but why? It's an impulse buy. They walk into a store, think "Oh, I wanna get some cards," and then leave disappointed because someone already picked up the entire display and moved it to the register.
>>59189286Except nobody is doing this with Perfect Order. The scenario is imaginary.
>>59188651all the info for meta decks are in the limitless links in the op. zam and lucario are easy decks to play like other anons have mentioned.>>59188666from what I've seen retreat lock techs only start showing up when retreat locking is popular. for instance gardevoir stopped playing turo for a period of time until both grim and absol started playing yveltal. this was also the case when stallax stopped showing up to regionals and decks that didn't use prime stopped using switch or turo. otherwise they're the first cards to be cut when building.>>59189288people are falling for the investurd psyop and refuse to open POR even when it's accessible.
>>59189331No one is opening it because there's no good chases and so they think holding it sealed will still go up. Which it might because retardism.

Elgyem attack (the one that moves energy), if you do it to a Rocket deck and move that energy to their Articuno, the energy is discarded because of Articuno's effect. Didn't know that.
>>59189331Why open packs of cards if there is nothing worthwhile in them?Frankly, I'm trying to build a trade binder now and unless I want to stock 20 meowths, there's nothing in POR people want. I'm just wasting money on a ritual that will get me nowhere. It's great for children, they don't know any better.
I think all types should have a trainer like this, always in rotation.
>>59190240We don't really need something like this right now with Cyrano, Poffin, and Pad.
>>59190240a cool type representative? agreed
>>59190353Kinda. Cyrano is EX only and sometimes thats not what we need. Poffin sure, a bit limited but its one of the best turn 1 cards. Pad is great too.But lets say we Poffin turn 1 for Iono tadbulb and wattrel. Then turn 2 we want both kilowattrel and bellibolt ex? Canari comes in here. What Im suggesting is something like that for all types, and in a generic way like Professor's Reaserch, so every few collections we get a new card with a different trainer art.
>>59190240I don't. I think it would be really lame to have everything homogenized. Even if some decks are disproportionately better than others, it's still preferable for them to have strengths and weaknesses over everyone just running the trainer that searches their cards and making decks feel really samey.
I don't know how to play SlopboxI lose every match, rely on supporters the entire team, literally gotta play what I'm dealt
>>59190240You can say the same for items like patches, the gong or capacious bucket, recovery trainers like tulip or tarragon, and any type specific cards. However, If all types each all have a support mon, trainer, etc always in rotation, the same for every type, what would be the point of having types?
>>59190370Canari doesn't fix Bolt-Bolt and doesn't fix Pure Bolt. Unless you can give me an actually consistent list (which I don't think exists) the deck isn't getting better unless you can consistently get set up turn 2.
Mega Delphox, a stage 2 and 3 prizer that needs 1 fire energy to use the attack that benches any pokémon.Tera Tatsugiri does the same for 3 different energies and is a basic 2 prizer.
Raging Bolt should've rotated too if they were going to take away Sada. It just isn't the same.
Here you go
>>59191383danke I got a yanmega ex
>forgot Megas are 3 prizes and almost threw a game vs. Mega Lucario
Is the scalping epidemic still a thing?
>>59192113You need only glance at /tcc/ to know that the answer will always be yes.
Is the mega evolution series a way to start a depowering scale after Pult, Dhengo and Garde decks?
>>59192177Pretty clearly, yeah. The downside is that they can't print something as strong as Pult, meaning Pult is gonna have a good year, but if they did people would just bitch about the new thing when Pult rotates.
I don't want to meet Pult players in mid 1500 elo in live.At 1600+, they know how to play but in mid 1500 they are very stupid.Just know I met a player put a Dragapult and Duskull in the same turn when I had a Mimikyu in my bench, that was a very stupid move that not a single pult player in 1600+ ever did.He was just asking me to take 3 prizes.
>>59192223>knownow.>putwho putI need to sleep.
>>59192177that's what people said about the S&V block and then they proceeded to complain about gardevoir for 3 years
At this point they should just ban dragapultIt's the only way to make the game fun again so the meta isn't just>pult>decks worse than pult
The lack of devo beam made all the mega basics even more useless since a stage 1 mega or stage 2 ex is way better and not that harder to set anyways since the basic mega sill need 3 energies to attack.
Won the most boring game of my life because my opponent was too stupid to realize they should've attached a Dark to Munkidori and taken a KO on Maractus.
>>59190531>what would be the point of having types?Because thats a Pokemon franchise feature. Its just annoying that some types have way more tools than others.Tulip, Tarragon, Canari are ok, and then dark gets fucking Grimsley's Move?! Fire gets Firebreather, thats it?
>>59193045>Its just annoying that some types have way more tools than others. You would rather every type have the same bullshit just with a different color? Pretty retarded honestly, the game's already simple enough.
>>59193115>Hatching Dragon Energy>Counts as 1 of anything if attached to a Dragon>Put up to 2 basic Dragons from deck on benchIt's not fair that Psychic has one, Dragapult should too. :)
>>59193319>Lucario as a Shoes/PokeStop deck>you either get your Premiums and Gongs, or mill energy to Aura Jab withimagine
>>59192629Gardevoir was a much weaker deck than Lugia
