>why would you criticise OR/AS for not having Emerald's improvements? It was a RUBY/SAPPHIRE remake, not an EMERALD remake
Why do zoomers make this retarded argument?
>>
No one says this
>>
>>59197148
Because HGSS included elements of Crystal. I know it is hard for a gen Alpha such as you to understand that we had better shit that “faithful” remakes such as BDSP back in the day.

Last time I wanted to replay Hoenn I went with Emerald over ORAs, that’s how much they fucked up.
>>
>>59197156
Look at literally any thread on leddit, resetera, twitter, etc. praising OR/AS and you almost inevitably hear this as a refutation of Emeraldfags justly mocking them for latching onto mediocre remakeslop
>>
>>59197156
It was the main defense of the games when they first came out.
>>
Because they're disingenuous people who need to justify acting like entitled children over a video game series they long-ago aged out of by the time of ORAS.
>>
>>59197160
What's impossible to teach zoom-zooms is HGSS had Crystal additions, because A) oldfags reacted poorly to the sevii islands horseshit shoehorned into FRLG to pad out the gameplay and add a post-game to RG/B and B) Porting a game written and fit onto a 2MB cart in 1999 required SOME kind of extra content, akin to what they'd added to FRLG to pad out gameplay and keep kids playing (even the safari zone fed into that with its timegated appearance rates). They added Crystal content, because it was content "of the era" (so less chance of oldfag blowback) and worked to pad out the gameplay of the base game. When they got to RS, they had enough clearly with the base game content AND the new extra shit they were planning to add to not need to pull extra content in to pad out the game (fucking hoopa ring horseshit did that for them)
>>
>>59197194
>add content from the era for HGSS to prevent blowback from oldfags instead of new shit nobody wants
>get good feedback
>do the exact opposite for ORAS
GF’s retardation works in mysterious ways.
>>
>>59197148
As a cope against GF dickteasing the BF then laughing at their pathetic fans for being such hilarious slurpers.
>>
>>59197202
>still flagrantly ignoring the point
Yep, they padded out HGSS to not release a barebones game (pulling stuff liberally from other, more important, dev projects). they didn't need to pad out RS with old content when it came to ORAS though, so didn't bother wasting time. There was also the separate issue of them attempting to make XY2 before then pivoting very late in-cycle to making ORAS in the first place and needing to release the game on a strict timescale, which meant less time for fucking about. In the end, they'd made a RS remake, just like the FRLG and HGSS ones before them. And 2/3rds of them released to that point, didn't add any old content with the next in line being just a port of the OG game code. It's almost as if remakes are what Game Freak see as re-releases and not expanded, extended or director cut versions like zoom--chans try and tell me.
>>
>>59197228
> they didn't need to pad out RS with old content when it came to ORAS though, so didn't bother wasting time.
No they added a bunch of new shit like Hoopa rings and a shoehorned Mega Evolution plot instead.
Your whole point is bizarre because it claims that RS could stand on its own unlike GS, while completely ignoring the fact that they did add a bunch of stuff to ORAS, but new shit nobody wanted instead of old shit.
>>
>>59197183
>You want the product you paid for to be good? Entitled much?
The American golem everyone.
>>
>>59197233
Yeah, that's my point. They had of-the-era content, feeding into the new gimmick used to distract the children-of-the-era so didn't need to pad it out with old shit.
they also knew they didn't have about 25m shitheels who'd played RS to sperg about content being added. law of averages pointed to the vast majority of the fanbase accepting it, because the vast majority of players of-the-era bought RS, not Emerald, like every povvo child from 2006 onward stole the rom of.
>>
>>59197239
ORAS IS "good". Sorry it doesn't suck (You) off, but calling it shit without emerald, just shows how shit Hoenn as a whole was (because 90% of emerald's changes were for the worse).
>>
>>59197241
>pad it out with new shit instead of the old shit people wanted
Yeah, which is why it still gets shit on today for not living up to HGSS.
>>
>>59197245
>ORAS is "good"
It's categorically 7.8/10 (Decent) for the rest of time and nothing you say will rewrite history.
Also
>90% of emerald's changes were for the worse
entitled much?
>>
>>59197245
Only bad changes Emerald did was:
1. Condense Contests down to one locale, something ORAS is also guilty of.
2. Swap Steven for Wallace as Champion, but Steven still exists as a super boss, something RS didn’t have at all.

>Because HGSS included elements of Crystal.
what the fuck did crystal even feature aside from being able to play as a girl and having a shitty battle facility. such a little amount of work no wonder people treat third versions as a scam
>>
>>59197241
Explain how not introducing elements from Emerald wouldn't have enhanced the experience
>>
>>59197246
By irrelevant children, still desperately throwing a tantrum in the hopes of the babysitter giving a shit for them again.
>>
>>59197271
There’s more but you are clearly not interested in a good faith discussion and I have no interest in sitting here for hours just for you to say “well that addition is shit/didn’t matter to me”.
So I’ll just say that if 3rd versions add so little and it is so little work to include then then it should have been no problem adding Emerald features to ORAS.
>>
>>59197271
>Suicune being focus gerbil of the three
>>
>>59197278
Remakes in the traditional sense are dead, ORAS buried them and BDSP put the nail in the coffin, nobody is denying that.
>>
>>59197273
Because that would require treating it like emerald from the outset, aiming to remake it and finish with a re-did RNG hall. They had online and battle maison (like they transplanted Sinnoh's BF for HGSS), so had the tools needed to keep comp-minded kids invested, in the 2010's when the world had drastically changed from when (You) drew your first breaths on the planet.
>>
>>59197288
Yeah, slapping the BF on is totally impossible, need to rework the entire game for that.
>>
>>59197287
What "traditional" sense? I'm sorry, I'm old enough to have been too old for its target market when it released, so didn't eat the marketingspeak as hard as you kids did (and still do). They weren't even planned to continue AFTER HGSS, as they were only being used to re-connect the old games to the new ecosystem (Masuda even admitted as much when he said "they saw fan reaction" and Ohmori saying he got pulled aside one day and handed the director's chair for them while Bank still has handler code for XY2 in its Gen 6 files). But since the fanbase proved they're easy money for old games, of COURSE they're going to continue to be shat out, while not "expanding on the originals" because Game Freak are using their creative energies to make actual NEW content for release every Gen, instead of treading water, retreading new Gen pairs in some fashion or other (remakes and rehashes/uppers) and they continue to make easy money.
>>
>>59197293
Yep, given they didn't have a battle frontier to port laying around keyed for Gen 6 (but they DID port the battle hall that DID exist over anyway) means they would have had to treat the project like an emerald remake, to justify spending time and money creating the assets needed for it. They still need Nintendo to foot the bill and know Nintendo know how much it cost to make shit (and Nintendo would point at sales numbers and ask "why the fuck are you trying to remake a game that sold poorly on GBA, compared to the MUCH more popular Ruby and Sapphire?").
>>
>>59197299
Yeah, both ORAS and BDSP were made due to popular demand, this is well known. BDSP underperformed and nobody is asking for other generations to get that treatment. Thus BDSP put the final nail in the coffin since nobody wants that shit for their generation and thus the demand for traditional remakes isn’t present anymore due to the last few being squandered.
>>
>>59197308
Yeah, because the other option, killing remakes completely by not putting in the work, which was always easy money for GF and Nintendo, was a much better strategic choice.
>>
>>59197310
15.06m is in no way "underperformance" given DP only sold 2.61m more than it. It also performed equal (slightly better actually) than the best-selling singular title Game Freak have ever produced. And if you're trying to use manchild reception to it as evidence of ANYTHING but manchild fuckers having a moment, all I have to do is remind you stupid cunts yis shit on ORAS too. BDSP still got fucking made. Enjoy the BW remakes, I sure as fuck will, but I'm just not sure if I'll enjoy watching the internet spazz out more over them than I'll enjoy playing them.
>>
>>59197333
BW remakes won’t be coming. At best we get a some new game set in the same region like a Legends game, or we will get VC releases of the originals, but those are still years and years away given that they only did FRLG.

If you think TPC is going to hand ILCA the BW remakes or even more absurd, that GF wants to make them themselves, who has only claimed the last few were only made due to popular demand, then you are out of your head.
>>
>>59197239
>AMERICANS AMERICANS AMERICAS AMERICANS AMERICANS
Based mindbroken streetshitter.
>>
>>59197349
Yeah, they will. 15.06m spergs proved they'll buy ports of old games already, never mind 14.67m proving they'd buy a phoned-in Game Freak effort. It's also a GREAT way to spin out an extra year of content without leaning on Game Freak for it (so WW '27, DLC '28, Legends: Galar/BW remake '29, the remaining '30). Easy money and burning a year extra? You're a retard if you let personal emotions colour your judgement on how a game studio would operate in that position.
>>
>>59197349
And no, I'm not claiming Game Freak want to make them, I knew from L: A (before teraleak confirmed it) Game Freak didn't want to do remakes. But I ALSO know from BDSP release they very much want the money for sales of remakes (licencing ILCA to make it, furthering the relationship with ILCA over Champions) and know the most likely outcome is Game Freak in fact giving ILCA the BW remakes, because no-one at the Game Freak right now gives a fuck for holding onto an autist's perception of their childhood, viewed through rose coloured spectacles 15 years after the fact.

> Yep, they padded out HGSS to not release a barebones game
They never cared about game being barebones before or after why care then: if johto genes were really so uniquely bare barebones that it necessitated adding stuff from the third version scam why not just not remake johto, normroids hate jotho as much as game freak so it wouldn’t hurt their bottoms line,
>>
Should I go catch more Vulpix in OR Y/N
>>
>>59197568
>normroids hate jotho as much as game freak
lmao the only people that hate johto are the terminally online le hardcode nuzelockfags and youtuber essayist cock suckers. Normalfags think HGSS is the peak of the series
>>
>>59198239
Normalfags wouldn’t even play it because it’s a ds game. Normalfags are the ones that slurp up switch slop

HGSS also lacked attributes of Crystal, like the reworked route encounter tables and the department store rooftop sales. It keeps the shitty Eusine stuff but inexplicably locks Suicune to KANTOOOOOOO, which wasn't even part of GSC.
>>
>>59197148
Emerald didn't really have a lot of changes to the story outside Battle Frontier. Which I'm still convinced only 1% of people care about and everyone else who bitches simply does it so they have an excuse to bitch about how the games have gone to shit. It's really just fighting both Team Magma and Aqua, splitting up the encounters with them between them and adding 1 more dungeon.
>>
>>59199503
the optional double battles being possible on most routes is what I liked the most about Emerald.
That and the better handling of both teams (Magma base in the volcano, Aqua base in the ocean cave).
Also the gen 3 Battle Frontier, which was imo its best iteration, as the gen 4 Battle Frontier had mostly worse facilities (other than the RNG Arcade, I liked that one).
>>
>>59199459
the trade off for suicune being kanto was the box legendary being before postgame at least, also you can get slugma and misdreavus before kanto as a trade off for not being able to get sneasel before kanto and you aren't losing out on ampharos with the crystal encounter tables
