What was the point of adding the Shiny Stone and Dusk Stone to the games? Why not just use the Sun and Moon Stones for the newer evolutions? Also, how did the localizers fuck up the names so bad? Shouldn't they be named Dawn Stone and Dusk Stone since they're counterparts, and the actual Dawn Stone be named something else since it's clearly more specific for the pokemon that evolve with it?

I just want them to use the Dawn Stone more. They finally let Eevee use the Leaf Stone and there are some Pokemon that could utilize it (male Combee, male Salandit, etc.).

Because if Moon Stones could be used for more mons, no one would use them to evolve their Skitties.
These got pretty phoned in the further you went along in generations. Even the original stones are mostly just used for the Gen 1 Pokemon that required it. The worst one is the ice stone because it was shoehorned on regional variants where the original wasn't a stone evolution like Sandshrew and Darumaka. At this point they should just retcon Espeon and Umbreon to the sun and moon stone too since they already retconned Leafeon and Glaceon. Sylveon can have the dawn stone.
Evolution stones should be significantly more common and useful for other things, too. Imagine a move that changes type based on the evolution stone held, or an ability that lets you use an evolution stone to resist or power up moves of a certain type or category. And beyond that, they should be used as ingredients or components to other things. Imagine if you had to repair a fossil by using a combination of fire and sun stones, or use an evo stone to bait certain pokemon into appearing in an area, or whatever.
