So long as the teams aren't changed each season, anyway. Pikachu is underwhelming but gives the most amount of generically good pokemon, while Absol gives some very good support pokemon. Tyranitar gives Arcanine and Whimsicott, so all you'd need to recruit for a good sand team would be Garchomp and Excadrill. And sand works well in both doubles and singles, although Hippowdon work better as the sand setter in singles.

Always underestimate your opponent's knowledge (in doubles). People use cookie cutter teams/movesets way too often, and most players don't even know what half the available roster can even do. I made it to Master picking Furfrou every match and I think only two people in total made an attempt to kill it with special attacks on the first or second turn.That said, never underestimate the Japanese and their knowledge in singles. I typically will lead with Mega Crab Orangaru / Torkoal / Orangaru. My 32 Attack Brave Mega Crab struggles to 1 shot basculegion, it usually lives with a sliver. Pelliper always runs focus sash, so it survives thunder punch. If not, the crab takes heavy damage from wave crash. This is how it usually boils down. I protect with crab, trick room with orangaru. Enemy wave crashes orangaru, then hurricane's or weather balls orangaru. Orangaru goes down. I protect with Orangaru and click thunder punch. Enemy wave crashes into Mega crab, hurricanes into mega crab. The crab dies. If I lead with torkoal, a competent player switches their pelliper out to bring back in. Turn 1, switches pelliper out, turn 2 when trick room is up, pelliper comes back in and my instruct eruptions do little damage. I could be mega evil and run sunny day on orangaru for this, but I like running Trick Room / Protect / Instruct / Psychic Terrain, for my expanding force shenanigans and to mitigate priority attacks.Sneasler + something high damageMy Meowstic is slower, so I can't fake out sneasler. A rough lead for me is kingambit + sneasler. Sneasler always fakes out my attacking mon, or if I lead Orangaru, it close combats / dire claws into it, and then kingambit kotow cleaves and orangaru dies. Hattrene really doesn't appreciate dire claws to the face. In an ideal world, I would run Covert Cloak Telepathy Orangaru and Clear Amulet Rhyperior and be an absolute menace to society.

Then psychic terrain and expanding force, but those competent playas will survive this. Floette + its goonsFloette + Sableyes. Floette + Inceroar. Floette + Sneasler. All with a sinistea in the back to SIP THE JUICE. Fake out + calm mind, and then I lose to dazzling gleam. I tried mega aggron out for this, but I run Max Def. 252 SpA Fairy Aura Floette-Mega Light of Ruin vs. 252 HP / 6 SpD Aggron-Mega: 207-244 (60.1 - 70.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. That is fucking insane. To counter flower, and then it takes 60-70% of its health. I don't run max HP, and then its 73.6 - 86.8%. FUCKING NUTS. I guess I really should run max Attack and max Def. I need max Def for body press on inceneroar to 2 hit KO after sitrus berry. Flower is so strong when played right.

>>59207345Do note that Jolly Basc will miss the kill quite often, especially if it's a neutral hit, and it makes intimidate that much more of a hit on you than it otherwise would be. I think I have like 3 clips saved on my Switch where a Whimsicott literally survives with 1% hp without triggering the focus sash - which meant it didn't go OVER the health limit. If I recall correctly, those times also cost me the game. Jolly Basc is a gambling option, but obviously I picked it because it lets me outspeed other Basculegions late-game and OHKO them. I did it because mine used to be Adamant, then my Basc got outsped by a Basc and lost.

Primarily Archaludon, Milotic and Basculegion, as well as obviously giving benefit to a bunch of mons that are weak to fire. Rain's main issue is just having 2 natural setters and 1 prankster setters and those 2 natural setters aren't exactly great, especially with Rotom-Wash running rampant in the format right now. But primarily, rain teams can function and does function very often without any rain present at all because of how naturally strong the water type is.
