fucking hell this board is infested with secondaries. Pokemon WANT to fight, they jump out of the grass as a test of strength. Despite Pedo Freak being lazy jackasses who don't deserve an ounce of success they fell into by doing nothing and actively hate pokemon, they've been very clear from the beginning and every facet of the franchise where battles happen is consistent with that. The player is more like a coach helping their team of 6 (plus any number of those who get rotated in) to reach their potential. And anyone actually forcing a Pokemon to fight is treated as the villain.
There's a reason why Megas, the single most coveted gimmick in the franchise and made solely to label which pokemon are game freak's favorites, is focus solely making the pokemon stronger. In general the ultimate dream of Pokemon is to be as strong as possible.
