Shinies, EVs, IVs, and natures are anti-fun and actively make the games more miserable. The worst and most irredeemable garbage mechanics are IVs and Natures. They sound really cool on paper because they would make every individual Pokémon unique, but in practice they just make some Pokémon worse and others better. This means that if you just normally play the game and just catch the ones you like, you will end up with subpar mons that just have worse stats, and you will never be able to push them to their full potential. If you want to reach a Pokémon's full potential, you will need to catch a crap ton of the same Pokémon and then autistically research IV and nature breeding methods online and breed them together in the most boring process imaginable of just running around over and over again, which is the exact opposite of an epic RPG adventure. And god forbid if you want to use legendaries that cannot be bred because you will need to reset the game and catch them 10 thousand times to get good IVs and a good nature. All of these mechanics are anti-fun and go against the message of Pokémon as friends and partners. You should be able to catch the Pokémon you like (or get it as a starter) and then train it to its full potential through your adventure as your partner, not "breed" ten thousand disposable mons to get one with good IVs and nature or reset the game a million times. The power of your Pokémon should be determined by how skilled you are as a player, how hard you train your Pokémon, and the moves you teach it, not random values assigned at the start. These mechanics suck and make the mainline games worse. I don't understand what justifies these mechanics and who enjoys them. They just encourage using hax instead of playing honestly.
Shinies are the least garbage mechanic and could stay without ruining the game, but they are still annoying to catch. Resetting your game fucking 4000 times to get the cooler-looking variant isn't my definition of a fun time. It's also not skill-based, like they take a lot of practice and mastery over the game to get, but just wasting your life time.EVs could be a really awesome mechanic, but they are implemented roughly. Every time you beat a Pokémon, you get EVs depending on its species, even if you do not need them, like SpAttack on a physical mon. But these still count towards your total upper limit, and there is no way of lowering EVs except in special cases like Unova and some berries in some games that don't even work if you have max friendship. So if you kill anything that doesn't perfectly align with the EVs that you need, like playing the games normally and using your mons in combat, you will end up permanently crippled with poor EVs. EVs would be a cool and good mechanic if they would only increase by using items like protein and calcium, power held items, and feathers or doing special EV training, or you at least had a consistent way to lower them, and they should be explained in-game so you know there is an upper limit and to not just use Zinc on your attacker because you think it makes him sturdier, alongside showing your EVs on the status screen.
>>59208954There should have been a method like Hyper Training to effectively increase IVs to their max since the original games. Of all the ways they could have tried to make everyone's Pokémon unique they decided to make it so that some would just always be weaker than others of the same species in a game that had official competitions. The Power Items, Super Training, EV reduction Berries, Nature Mints and Ability Capsules should have all been introduced in Ruby & Sapphire
>>59208954you make such good points but ruin it with your disgusting fetish. this is why gen 2 is so great because there are no natures, no abilities, and no evsexcept this one>Resetting your game fucking 4000 times to get the cooler-looking variant isn't my definition of a fun time.shinies werent meant to be hunted for, they were meant to be stumbled upon. except in gen 2 where you can breed them for a 1/64 odds with one shiny parent
>>59208954Agreed about IVs, but you're wrong about natures. It's not fair to lump IVs and Natures together. Natures are interesting from a gameplay standpoint since there's not always an objective best nature for a Pokemon, and so there can interesting choices and experimentation in which ones are used on certain sets. This is not applicable to IVs, where there's basically always an objective best layout. I agree the way natures are determined is needlessly tedious though.>>59208961You're not supposed to reset for shinies and you aren't expected to, the whole point is that they're an extremely rare surprise you randomly stumble across. It's not the mechanic's fault that you're an autist who tries to force the odds for something that's meant to be extraordinarily rare and not guaranteed. If they created a system for guaranteed shinies, they would instantly lose what makes them so cool and fascinating. It's why shiny Gyarados and Haxorus aren't considered special and why shiny genners are hated.I agree that the way EVs are obtained is dumb. I don't get why Pokemon doesn't just have a standard skill investment system like most RPGs. TBF though, if EVs were easy to control then Pokemon would become even more piss-easy than it already is. Better that they fix that issue first.

>>59209238>kiyo*kojo
Only IVs (and DVs)are bad. These already change drastically the performance of a Pokemon the moment you catch it.
>>59209253>Wasting EVs on unused stats for just killing enemy Pokémon is not bad.

>>59208954Oh yeah that's hot
>>59211265There is nothing sexual about two foxes kissing, dumb ragebaiter.
>>59208954Have you been in a coma for a decade? None of these matter anymore in 2026.EVs can easily capped out with the limitless amount of vitamins you can buy these days for cheap and every game has a dedicated reset NPC that can set a Pokemon all-around to 0 if you fucked up/changed your mind.IVs are entirely pointless ever since Hyper Training has become a thing, which lets you max out the IVs for any stat of any Pokemon.Shinies are easy as fuck to come by in new games. Sandwiches in SV and Donuts in ZA let you get whatever you want in less than 30 minutes if you ignore the small grind for herbs/hyper berries. Add the shiny charm to that and even the stuff you have to reset for (like Latias/Latios in ZA) are a matter of an afternoon to grind.
>>59211291>Have you been in a coma for a decade?I only play the old games and fan games or romhacks.
>furfag shit in the OPOpinion discarded
>>59208954>You should be able to catch the Pokémon you like (or get it as a starter) and then train it to its full potential through your adventure as your partnerYou can already do this. Your starter having a shit nature and ivs doesn't change that.
>>59212089>Your starter having a shit nature and ivs doesn't change that. That means you will never reach the full potential on this individual Pokémon unless you use hax.
>>59212107That individuals full potential is whatever it reaches with those "disabilities". You will never be the best in the world at anything, or likely even close to it, but that doesn't mean you can't reach your full potential.I hate you ESLs.

>>59208954>need>need>needYou don't need any of that. You just want it because you're autistic.
>>59212665Unlike action games, the point of turn based games is optimisation and efficiency.
>>59212672>have max stats, best nature, best itemsBeat the game with no effort>have shit stats, natures, moves, abilities, itemsBeat the game with no effortThere's nothing to optimize.
>>59212689>have max stats, best nature, best itemsBeat the game with no effortBeautiful perfection>have shit stats, natures, moves, abilities, itemsBeat the game with no effortMy team is not optimal and perfect enough
>>59212672>the point is optimization>that's why I want all the features that I optimize to be removed????
>>59212700>>59212665Honest question:Do you actually enjoy catching 40 of the same mons and autistically breeding for perfect IVs and nature using online rescources and run around to hatch eggs for hours and resetting legendaries a thousaand times for perfect IVs and nature instead of exploring a region, overcomming battles and discovering new rare Pokémon?Or do you just have a humiliation fetish where you like not having a fully optimised team?
>>59212793No one optimizes IVs and Natures for the singleplayer campaign unless maybe they're doing some kind of challenge run. There might be an isolated giga-autist out there who does this during casual playthroughs, but I've never heard of them.
>>59212853I do. I’ve been spending the last 3 hours resetting for a starter with good stats
>>59212853>No one optimizes IVs and Natures for the singleplayer campaign unless maybe they're doing some kind of challenge run. So you admit that IVs and Natures contribute absolutely nothing to the games?
>>59213014I added the "singleplayer" caveat for a reason. But with IVs, yes. But not Natures, see >>59209075
>>59209075Every pokemon has an objective best nature.
>>59214775https://www.smogon.com/dex/rs/pokemon/tyranitar/
>>59214782Oh we're talking comp now are we? Where are the usage stats. I can nigh guarantee that one nature is used over the other by a noticeable margin.
In the end it's not as if I could change it, besides using hax to set one IV to 31 at a time after every gym as a housemade rule and reducing unneeded EVs, but I can still point out that it's objectively fucking shit game design.
>>59214789Which one
>>59212793>Do you actually enjoy catching 40 of the same mons and autistically breeding for perfect IVsNo, so I don't do that.>Or do you just have a humiliation fetish where you like not having a fully optimised team? What is humiliating about playing a video game for fun and not treating it like a job? You don't enter or win competitions so I don't get why you care about this stuff. Are you really so bad and stupid that you can't beat these games with 0IV, wrong nature, 60bp moves?
>>59208954You are genuinely autistic and should have yourself tested. The experience you want from Pokemon is far from what the average, or even the average dedicated super-fan, would want. You need to stop bitching and play Fire Emblem or some shit instead. Even beyond that, each of your points is just retarded. My pick for most retarded is>All of these mechanics are anti-fun and go against the message of Pokémon as friends and partners.
>>59208961>So if you kill anything that doesn't perfectly align with the EVs that you need, like playing the games normally and using your mons in combat, you will end up permanently crippled with poor EVs.But you're saying you like optimizing that stuff >>59212672What is your issue?
>>59208954I stopped reading at the second line, you are retarded. Zoomers like you need to be able to be okay with not getting everything, actually enjoying the experience, otherwise why bother at all? If everything's identical all you're left with is coin flips.
>>59215519What if I like coin flips? Huh?
>>59215519OP wants less time playing the game so he has more time to masturbate to incestuous animal child porn
>>59215519>If everything's identical all you're left with is coin flips. It's funny because with IVs and Natures it's actually a coinflip whetever you get a mon with decent potential or are stuck with one that will just never be good no matter how hard you train it.It makes the game less skill based and more RNG based.
>>59215536>my mewtwo will never be good because it has 29 instead of 31 special defenseYou might just be retarded.
>>59215536That's the whole "RPG" aspect, retard. You're not supposed to have everything perfect, you're supposed to encounter these monsters and train them. You're supposed to see their Nature and project a personality on to them with your imagination, you're supposed to see what it's good at, explore its moves and abilities and see what you can do with it. If you don't like it then don't train it. How fucking fluoride brained are you that you can't grasp the idea of playing and enjoying a game. If you don't like it, you play another game. But of course you won't because you're a degen animal fucker, so you don't play Pokemon you just go back and forth between jerking off and complaining. Actually kill yourself.
>>59215546This is true.If you don't have full 31 IVs, a nature that fits the mon and perfectly train EVs, you will never reach the maximum potential that mon could.
>>59215554Nice selfie lol.
>>59215561You don't take many pictures of yourself, do you? Think hard about the selfie perspective; who do you think is holding the camera there? Do you think it's the guy who was kicked? Are you okay?

>>59211291these are bandage fixes for mechanics that need rework or removal
>>59215636Is that your friend who took your selfie for you?>>59215645I think they were solid fixes to the problem. Could be done better but at least my Pokémon isn't doomed now if I grind hard enough and every Pokémon has the potential for greatness now.If only they were present in the actually good games and romhacks and not just in the nu crap.
