This. Garchomp’s mega was such a flop that GF made a new one to replace the old one. That’s a bigger failure than not getting a mega, hands down.

I'd still use Flygon on my mono-Ground teams. I can't even use the new Garchomp mega. And Flygon does a few things. Levitate means you can run it alongside someone spamming Bulldoze - and you can Protect turn 1 or set Tailwind. You even have access to Feint and First Impression. It has it's own little neat toolkit.
A bit disappointed it hasn't gotten a mega. But I think I'd prefer it more if it got the Weezing treatment and was allowed a choice in abilities other than Levitate - Tinted Lens and Sand Stream seem the most thematic. Could even get Arena Trap.

Ability will make or break Mega Z. Kangaskhan, Scovillain, Glimmora all have some of the worst mega stat spreads yet, and their abilities carry them to viability.
