>still buying vintage
normally dont get cards graded, but I was at gamestop the other day and they had a "pull party" raffle, I ended up winning and got to send a card to get graded for free. they told me it didnt have to be any card I pulled there and as long as I got back before they closed, they'd send off any card I brought, so I sent pic related off
hoping for corphish, goldeen, shellder, slowbro, starmie, poliwag or wailord
>>59214748Should've sent an energy off or something so that way you wouldn't care when they inevitably lose it.
>>59214752
Trainers
>>59214754yeah, that's why I sent that instead of something like my Lugia V
>>59214762
>>59214762Finally picked up this bad boy at the weekend
>>59214735Yeah anon both the Greninja and Kingdra exists in only Both types of Chinese in terms of Japanese Print and most likely will be the only Japanese Print to exist since the Greninja ex is out of legal tournament use.Pic on the right is in TWD and other in AUD.
>>59214813oh shit that was to respond to this >>59214715...oh well thats an excuse to post cards.Hoping they issue new cards of these two in the future.
>>59214756>>59214752every time I bough blindboxes I always without a fail got the one thing I absolutely didn't want to get so I stopped trying
I want an Unscratched-Code Swift Spectral Tiger but it's like $12,000 AUD so have to come to terms with the fact I'll never own one.Fires of Outland booster boxes are around $2,500 AUD each after fees and the pull rate is 1/20 boxes making it around $50,000 cost of discovery i feel like the card will experience a reevaluation soonGot a code-scratched one for $130 but there are 500+ of those in existence so whilst it may be the item in question the intact gold bar unmodified adds an insane value multiplier. They have notoriously bad edge whitening & cards come sort of bent pack fresh, although i have seen a PSA grading return video where atrocious condition ones we're coming back as 10's.Blazing Hippogriff was once $700 but a single person bought them all out and started flipping them for $2000.

>>59214737Left was/is my fave Pokemon card. Searched for so long for it as a kid and was so happy the day I pulled it
>>59214813>95€Damn that's too much for a card I already own in another language. Plus I usually get raped by customs for another 30€ minimum.

>>59216431you will have to go back in time for that, bro
>>59216439Nonsense, prices for vintage have mostly cooled off already, eventually there will be no one left to buy and the prices will completely crater. Same will happen to modern when TPCi finally prints some more cards.

A real question for you American guys: where actually do you buy singles from when you have a specific card in mind? Especially in Japanese, what sites do you use besides ebay? No, I'm not looking to steal your scene or anything. Just frustrated with basically only being able to buy whatever happens to be on eBay if I want a reasonable price. Searching a specific card almost guarantees you're overpaying like on TCGPlayer and obviously nobody wants to go to a damn "local card shop".
>>59216521No, they go to your chilluns
I don't even open anything more than blisters anymore. Opening boxes is too terrifying now, I just pretend my sealed ETBs already have a god pack inside them.
>>59216516Pokemon cards are literally the only valuable things I own. Richfags get no sympathy from me.
>>59216542I either buy on ebay or go to card shows. While most vendors have modern, I'm usually pleasantly surprised by the few that carry stuff from gen 3 or 4
A few local show pick ups today
>>59216553That’s hilarious. You should probably swap some of that into gold and silver bra
>>59215292Yes, and two booster packs.
>>59216575I had good luck with the booster packs with the last blind boxes. Got a bunch of the shinies
Lately i have been enjoying a scalper that has created a bot that increases the price of his stuff from time to time. Every few hours or so the price of what he's selling becomes 20 cents more expensive. Funniest shit ever

>>59216711Unfortunately I'm a Dark Magician main so one of my favorite monsters is literally the game's biggest waifu and her cards can be crazy.
>>59216720Glad i Got myself a grade 7 Dark Magician Girl before that got too expensive.
I have a couple cards that are probably worth grading, should I just use GameStop?
>>59216879Take caution getting them graded, PSA has been getting really scummy with people's cards lately, anon.
>>59216711I don't think I'm legally allowed to, I shower more than once a month.
>>59216889Legally you shouldn't be allowed near any card game, then.
>>59216879Don't grade
>>59216872Meh, I don't really care for graded slop and her default art is the worst by far, but damn did I really want the Ghost Rare.
>>59216720You really chose the wrong girl to like.
>>59216900Why not? I don't play the game, I just collect
>>59216912The good news is that I expected that to happen as soon as her card was revealed and accepted that I would almost certainly never get my hands on it. Alas, hopefully they get some more spellcaster waifu cards that I can afford, I'd even take Palladium Oracle Mana.
>>59216913See >>59204470Btw i can grade your bank bills and old gold coins
Anyone else get super depressed and leave cards that made them happy laying around? I started spring cleaning and found these, all sleeved up but just in a stack. Nothing too fancy but the cards made me happy again so I wanted to share them I guess. The McDonald's Pikachu from a few years ago is unexpectedly wonderful.
Should we nuke China? There are so many people selling fake JAP cards online, claiming they're real.
>>59217025And eng cards. And chn cards. And psa slabs
>>59216566Sick Groudon
>>59217037Yeah, I'm noticing JAP cards because I mostly collect Japanese cards. You can easily spot these cards, different cardboard, energy logos, white outline on Charizard's neck etc.But it pisses me off that they're selling these cards and they're also getting offers for a lot of money.
>still buying physical
>>59216879I wouldn't grade them. I especially wouldn't grade through Gamestop. And >>59216924 is only one of several stories from PSA being negligent with peoples cards. I see a huge lawsuit coming onto PSA in the near future.
>>59217088I don't see how psa can be suedYou use third party elements to send your stuff. Third party loses your stuff. No more liabilityThird party actually gives the stuff to psa and some intern signs the receipt before stealing some. The company moves the liability from themThe only way i see it for psa to be sued it would be if they did all the steps. They get a team at your house, the team takes it directly to psa. Card is graded and given to the team that will send to your home. Any negligent attitude is easy to sue here. Otherwise for my non legal ass it sounds hard
>>59217120Oh I meant more like the stories where PSA damaged that persons card that was worth $40k and offered them $20k for it (while also seeing a similarly graded card sell for $40k at the same time). And then other stories I've heard of people seeing their cards get sold or 'lost' under PSAs care. It looks like a lot of negligence on their that they are directly responsible for. The third party through Gamestop seems like an easy way for things to get stolen because like you said someone steals it and it goes>Not Gamestops problem, take it up with PSA>Not PSAs problem take it up with GamestopAnd that isn't including throwing blame on the mailing company. They can play hot potato with who is reponsible and there is nothing a person can do about it. At least if its under PSAs direct control they can't point the fingers at anyone.
>>59217141These are rare and PSA is pretty good unironically, a lot of these scandals got dealt with. Even the meme Persian with the cock on it got removed, which is funny but still
>>59217145I get you, but man, there shouldn't be scandals happening in the first place or ever for a company handling other peoples properties worth in the hundreds and thousands of dollars.
>>59217166Enshitification is real. I wouldn't risk grading any of my shit. The system and communities are too far gone to be trusted with
>>59216983Kino cards
>>59217166I think this underestimates how big PSA is right now, they have month long wait times and massive vaults. They must do thousands of cards a day.
>>59216551>went to a lgs>oh wow they actually have pokemon he->$60 booster bundles>FIFTY FUCKING DOLLARS FOR A 3 PACK SET>$80 ETBs>$120 for a single fucking Prismatic ETBare these people out of their fucking MINDS WHY IS NOBODY STARTING A RIOT OVER THIS SHIT
>>59217345Only way to get anything at msrp is at a PokeCenter and those are usually empty from scalpers
>>59217345Went to go meet a friend after his shift at GameStop, and saw they had Prismatic ETBs at fucking $150, asked him what was up with that and apparently the GS ceo did something to piss off the TPC ceo so badly that they no longer provide GameStop with pokemon products anymore, and they have to get it all from resellers
>>59217345wait till real stuff starts doubling in price

>still buying modern
>>59216376>If your entire vintage collection was bought decades later, you aren't a real fan.>Showing that they purchased in 2019 cards that were printed in the year 2000Are they lumping themselves in the camp they denigrated?
>>59216879Grading is a scam and literally kills the soul within the card. If you want them encased in plastic, do it yourself. But permanently encasing a card with a rating by a third party company, especially if you're doing it to "increase the value!" of the card -- you are destroying the soul of the card.
>>59216912Aren't those prices just for the 1st editions/special editions/numbered editions but you can still get the very same artwork with a different holo and without the number for bulk prices?I thought that's why no one cared about invooosting in YGO.
>>59216983The detective Pikachu promo is very sought after, keep it clean and protected.
>>59218375I have two copies because I predicted it would be, one is in my binder the other in that Card Saver. I feel like it would have looked like the shitty Mario cards if the fucking game hadn't been abject ass I have read that it's better to take those cards out of the polybags but they hold more value kept in them, don't they?
I put all my pokemans from my childhood into collectr. Is ts actually worth this much? Kind of hard to believe.
>>59218596Maybe like half of that. Depends on buyers and condition.
>tfw no collection tracker with all the options and details I want exists but I still want to see the value of my cards to feel better about wasting my life on this

>>59218848Aight cool. I don’t really need the money and I’m lazy so I’ll probably hold onto these for some more. Lines going up anyway
>>59218373First of all Yugioh OCG doesn't make a distinction between first edition or unlimited prints in their sets. The five digit price tag ones are for the serialized cards of which only 100 are in circulation. The 3 digit one is for the highest rarity non serialized version. The lowest rarity non serialized version is like $60.Then there are the variants without the tits popping out which no one wants. Those are pennies. But if that guy is a waifufag he'd want the best possible version of his waifu. Only Ultra Rare Overframe Black Magic Curtain? You must not care at all about her.

>>59219270one can hate both blacks and orange man
>>59218928Serious posting is not really fun although let us see this. More people are opening more packs than ever making singles price devalue like crazy which is great for tcg players making their decks. The companies involved are all making nice money thanks to the amount of paper they're selling and Greta isn't complaining yet. Collectors can buy a legendary pokemon for dirty cheap and can then show off their cards to their dead grandmother. So whose hobby was ruined? Your hobby of trying to find Jesus Christ in the toilet paper when you buy in bulk or something? Change your priorities bro
>>59218596Collectr prices are all over the place, sometimes one of my cards jumps from 100 to 400 overnight and then slowly crawls back.Even if prices were precise, with modern they all refer to NM condition, that retards equate to "if it's not a PSA10 candidate I'm getting a refund". Even if you set the correct condition for your cards (LP, MP, etc), collectr just estimates a % of lower value that doesn't reflect reality at all.
>>59219201
>>59218901There will always be autistic waifufags like we have lilliefags spending thousands on Japanese battle day, and if you settle for Chinese you don't love her.But that's a vast minority, on the other hand you have most people just wanting the artwork of DMG with her tits out, and it's always available at slower rarity for cheap. Most collectors don't necessarily collect for absolute rarity, but it's a mix of rarity and artwork. Depending on your budget, if you really like a card but can't afford the rarer variant, you will go for the common variant. With pokemon you don't have this choice. You like that mega Charizard artwork? Too bad, you can only pull it at a 0.00001% chance and it will never be reprinted in another set, unless you bet on the anniversary set every 5 years. If they reprinted moonbreon to the ground for 30th anniversary, the voice of investorbros complaining would be overshadowed by 100x more people being happy to afford the cheaper moonbreon (>implying). And people who collect for rarity wouldn't really be affected because they would still own the rare unstamped variant from 2021, it will just be invooostors and flippers screeching and seething.
>>59219480They aren't Ethnic-Americans, they're "Americans." If I moved to China and became a citizen, it would be preposterous to call myself Chinese even though that would technically be correct.
>>59219288>no we didn't ruin your hobby you were just enjoying it wrong!!Fuck off retard
>>59219432The fact is that singles of desirable cards really don't have a set price because if you got it graded and it's a 7 or 8 it's essentially worthless, yet those cards are pretty much mint to untrained eyes and cracking the slab allows you to sell it for much more as it's seen as a "potential 10". Hell, most people who don't grade cards would absolutely be fine with 5/6s in their binder collection but if you're selling it raw you can still list those as NM.

>>59219707This. I've cracked 6s that, if I was shown the same card raw at a booth, I would have been willing to pay nm prices for it. At the same time, I've cracked 8s that I would only pay LP prices for. Another reason why grading is a scam.

>>59220000You can open 1000 packs from a single set and still be missing some rare cards.
>>59221793In the end, cards are pretty much subjective. If I personally like a card and the condition it's in, I'm willing to pay maybe more than it's """objective"""" condition warrants. Hell, there's plenty of people even on like E4 who collect incredibly expensive cards but sacrifice on the condition of the backs reasoning they'll never look at them anyway. >>59221836That's almost certainly a bubble. People believe that because Skyridge was only out for a few weeks when EX R&S launched, it was somehow insanely short-printed, but the fact of the matter is that WOTC printed the absolute fuck out of both it and Aquapolis because they were going scorched Earth trying to tank the game before Nintendo could take over. Wizards had to stop shipping cards when Nintendo beat them in court, but you could buy e-Series on store shelves for nearly all of 2003, like stores were sitting on them because they were outdated immediately, but Wizards vented it's warehouses for about a year and Nintendo couldn't do shit about product already at retailers. Hell, as early as mid-2002 WOTC was running tournaments that cost about $10 or less to enter with prizes ranging from 16 packs to multiple booster boxes. I distinctly recall my local Target had e-Series theme decks rotting on the shelves by the time EX Magma vs Aqua came out almost a full year after Skyridge. The cards are not actually as scarce as speculators and investors have tried to make it out to be, it seems that way because they were hoarded rather heavily when actual vintage first mooned (at that time e-Cards were cheap because nobody wanted that ugly shit).Eventually these people will get bored with holding the bags, and look to sell at more reasonable prices; I can't imagine anyone besides fellow 'investors' are buying the cards at these prices.
