Quick FAQ
>Do I need my own Pokémon to play?
No, the game features a recruitment system, but transferring from Home is recommended to save time and resources.
>What makes the game so much more accessible than before?
All aspects of a Pokémon are customizable with VP, a currency earned simply by playing the game. IVs are also removed.
>Is there single player content?
No.
>Do I need a Nintendo Online subscription?
No.
>What's the starter pack?
US$6.99 one time purchase for 50 training tickets (fully train for free), 30 quick coupons, 50 extra box space and the LGPE trainer music.
>Is anything locked behind a paywall?
So far everything gameplay relevant is also purchasable with VP. Mega Kalos starters and E-Floette require ZA transfer.

Why did they make it so every type that resists fairy is also weak to ground?
>>
Sableye is good because of quash, run flip turn and aqua jet to run away from sylveon or destroy mega gardevoir respectively. Everything else folds to mega kick once you get gravity up.
I guess Kingambit in the back for when you flip turn. Or sneasler. For speed control Id run both a tailwind setter and trick room cause feraligatr is quite literally in the middle of both
>>
Sableye is so fucking annoying to play against, but I love using him too.
His viable move pool with prankster makes every sableye a complete guessing game. You should remove sableyes on sight or they can win games very fast with willowisp or quash or screens or gravity or encore or taunt or fakeout or trick or thunder wave.
>>
>>59215792
This shit is a major reason why Steel/Flying is the best defensive type in the game. Run Corviknight.

I’ve been trying him out lately too, and when he works it’s a breeze, but I struggle with him when I have a bad lead matchup or when he has to come out when I’m a Mon down because he has to take so much damage in order to do his thing. What’s your set like? I basically Rage Powder to spread the first two Burns and then my moveset seems to flounder around and not accomplish much.

This also annoys the fuck out of me, it’s pure evil that Gliscor would be a monster in this format but we just can’t use him, he’s one of my favorite mons

I'm in love with Dragapult right now. But the Charizard is basically useless and the giraffe is much the same, since I find it easier to just kill the enemy Trick Room user before they get it off. Help me, people who are actually good at the game. Pls giv suggestions. I've found Bridge-based rain teams a generally unfavourable matchup.

also is the guy in 7th using a fucking normal floette?
>>
>>59216075
MAybe swap the girraffe for a fast taunt pokemon if you never use it. Since its obviously there just to stop trick rooms.
I'd personally swap char for t-tar if you want a back pocket guy to ruin enemy weather, maybe as a potential second mega if floett looks bad
>>
>>59215991
Tsareena, Typhlosion, and Zoroark seem to be the odd ones out?
>>
>>59216089
I was definitely considering TTar for the weather replacement, nice way to deal with sashes too. I'll have to have a look at some of the quicker Taunt pokemon to see what options I've got. As someone who hasn't really played Pokemon in about 20 years, I'm still not used to simply clicking the biggest damage attacks over and over.

>>
I just spent some time using gliscor as a utility mon for my team with earthquake breaking swipe tailwind protect/feint/uturn. Sand veil with brightpowder and a t-tar for sand.
It's totally useable, especially if your team can take advantage of his immunities with big spread moves. I wasn't brave enough to bring him against rain/snow teams though.
>>
>>59216216
Why do retards always ask this question whenever teams get posted? It's just the way they submitted their team sheet. Regular Floette isn't in Champions so there isn't any issues, everyone knows it's Eternal because it literally has to be.

Other way around, you want it as heavy as possible for Heat Crash (if it's even in Champions, I don't know) or Heavy Slam. And even for that I doubt there's actually a single pokemon where it allows it to take a 100bp instead of 120.

I used it with decent success, it's good against a lot of the most popular teams when I was playing (Zard Venusaur) thanks to dragon type and being immune to sleep powder with Overcoat. Clanging Scales is just a solid move to use and you can also aura sphere any steel or dark types you find. I ended up replacing Clangorous Soul with Cum Wave for priority after getting fucked over by a low health Kingambit spamming sucker punch. I guess I'm also just lucky that I didn't run into many fairy types but Sneedler can usually either kill them or scare them off.

I'm new to vgc and tried copying good teams and got nowhere, dropped a ton of elo so I decided to make my own team from scratch and after a few failed attempts, decided to build a team built entirely around being an asshole with milotic, rather than milotic being added as a supportive piece like in my other attempts. For the first time I have a team I literally haven't lost a game with yet and every mon has pulled its weight in some matchup. I'm trash so when I play good players they will probably pull my team apart, but for now it feels good and I wonder if I have actually built something good or not.

The one thing to keep in mind with Trick Room is that at a certain point players know how to counter it and you having a flow chart team with limited options means they'll be able to read you and shut you down. TR is a very good beginner strat for teaching basics, but it's a strat with a skill and results cap. You don't see TR winning tournaments.
>>
>>59217169

Alright. So how do you counter it with a tailwind team? Eating hits and spamming protect or are you gonna pull some bullshit out of your ass like saying that you actually use imprison girafarig (you don’t)

Many ways to stop this one such as redirection or weakening attacks, the best part about this one is that you’re assuming you’re not throwing any support out.
>trade with them
And what makes you think they can’t do the same shit to you?
>wall them with bulky pokemon
What makes you think they can’t do the same? Especially when bulky pokemon are the TR users.

>>
>>59217632
Try using TR yourself and see how people counter it.
In my experience giraffe is pretty easy to kill.
Megazard OHKO my max hp giraffe with weatherball and kingambit and scizor can do so as well with max atk investment which most of them do.
Not to mention doubling into a giraffe with incineroar.
If you're facing a tr team you don't even need to bring your tailwind setter since all of them are slow as balls.

Thats what you call taking a risk.
Scizor and kingambit are both TR mons, you bring tr for them.
Lastly hard trick room or hard tailwind are both bad but the latter is hard countered by TR. Your team should be able to make use of both and you setup tailwind at the final turn of TR or pick which you will commit into based in team preview.

I think Sneasler is a really funny pokemon, I feel like he's a nod to boomers like me. When I discovered Dark-type pokemon way back in Gen2 and had a rude awakening with Sneasel that Psychic-type moves don't work on him, I was rocked to my very core. Dark-types like Sneasel are a hard counter to Psychic. Had they released Sneasler back then, with his 4x weakness to Psychic, we would've all LAUGHED hard at him. Sneasler is like if they revised history to keep Psychics dominant in gen2. Yeah, he works incredibly well today since Psychics aren't so common. Which, in turn, allow people to play pokemon like Venusaur as well without simply being punished for it.

You have two turn timers. There's the per-turn timer, and there's the total turn timer. In addition to a time limit on each turn, you have a total time limit on your side for all your turns combined. New section added in Priority.Requesting anons to go through to make sure all the information is correct.
I understand team building section is still highly requested, and I think I have narrowed it down to just 'Making a core'. The smallest unit of a team, i think that is easier to understand, fits any timeframe, and can help newbies understand on how to make their mega Altaria team or whatever.
>>59218649
seconding that anon's comment. Its best to just pick a team you understand at least on a basic level on how it is played rather than picking the best and not understanding what any of them does.
I mean like you could probably claw your way up, but as ive seen multiple anons do before you, its frustrating, confusing, and you wont ever understand why you lost or won

I mean I’ve been playing since launch and used all those mons aside from Mega Floette which I need to transfer from ZA. I was just busy this weekend and didn’t enter the competition yet. I’m worried that a team like that is too offense-oriented for the current meta since Aero and Incin are the only support mons, and I typically use Fake Out, Flare Blitz, Parting Shot, and Helping Hand on my Incin (so no Taunt or Dark attacking moves).

>>59218778
Okay from these two posts i basically got you pat down.
You are very worried about Charizard Y teams, and you dont particularly understand how team building is done.
No shame in it, i am serious. A ton of anons here dont know how to either, since that isnt required of you. I think tailored for your end, you really should go for that mega tyranitar team, with incineroar. You can drop aerodactyl though, he is good, dont get me wrong, but between the usual core of excadrill and tyranitar, they handle everything aerodactyl was doing anyways (killing Sneasler, moving fast).
Also just for the record
>I guess it would pair well with Aerodactyl anyway.
Aerodactyl (counterintuitively) does not fit into a tyranitar team. You will never use that Special bulk you get from sand, and because of that you always run them as fragile as possible.
>>
>>59218806
So you think I should go with Excadrill over Corviknight or Aerodactyl? The main thing I like about Aero aside from STAB Rock Slide is the fact that it gets Wide Guard.
>>
>>59218841
it all boils down to what you want to do exactly. If the only two things you wanna do is fuck over CharY sun teams and use aerodactyl, you could just outright play a rain team.
heck i wrote a short breakdown of how a rain team with aerodactyl functions in the new player guide here

You can still use rock slide plus wide guard if you want with the rain team
>>
>>59218841
I think you should have both Corviknight and Excadrill.
Look at Joseph Ugarte's team.
>>
>>59218582
For me it's the opposite
>opponent's Sableye encore my Melotic's coil
>I refuse to switch out predicting He most likely will ignore my Milotic while She coiling every turn because no one can resist the temptations of free 2v1, right
>kill His Sableye couple of turns later, and during that process I maxed out the coiling stack
>He realized His fucking mistake of ignoring my Milotic when He see Her ate my Garchomp's earthquake as if it's just a chip damage from sandstorms
>He forfeit afterward
>>
>>59218841
What about… armarouge with flash fire and wide guard
>>
>>59218478
Wide Guard and Quick Guard affect Protect's chance to fail afterward, but don't use that chance themselves.
>>
>>59218856
>>59218865
I don’t particularly care about Aero that much aside from it getting WG and how it has more offensive presence than Corviknight. I usually run Corviknight with Tailwind, Mating Press, Dual Wingbeat, and Light Screen. I also run a weird Sneasler with Gunk Shot over Dire Claw (more damage and non-contact), and Rock Slide over Fake Out.
>>
>>59218927
Nta but wtf really? Does it affect it for both mons or just the one using the move?

Just the one using the move

Hell it's name is basically an indirect translation of "yukiona" as it is
>>
>>59218932
Okay, unorthodox set, but to each their own.
What even are you looking for then? From your previous posts it all seems like
>it must have a wide guard user
>it must disrupt enemy weather (or at least just charizard)
>it must do well
then play rain, since Pelipper also gets it if you wanna double up on wide guard for some reason.
May I ask for the reasoning of your unorthodox move selections?

why is every pronoun capitalized

his opponent is God (the Pokemon too)

Go is an awful game but I like the idea of using mons caught in the "real world"

Light Screen on Corviknight is just nice for team support and keeping Mega Ttar alive. I don’t like Iron Defense+Body Press in doubles since it just leaves Corvi open to eating Tbolt or Fire Blast. Like I said, Gunk Shot on Sneedler is good for big damage and not proccing things like Rough Skin or Flame Body. It also allows me to run it on a TR team as a counter-pick to other TR teams without having to worry about the paralysis chance from Dire Claw. Rock Slide over Fake Out is for a surprise super effective hit on Zard Y, Aerodactyl, and all the other Flying types. It’s just a good coverage move in general since everyone expects Fake Out and uses Protect on the first turn anyway. It takes the guesswork out of which mon is going to Protect and still gives me the flinch chance on the one that doesn’t.

Also the last rain team I threw together consisted of Pelliper, Mega Blastoise, Rotom-W, Archie, Azumarill, and Scizor. I haven’t playtested it that much and considered swapping Azu for Clefable and Scizor for Beartic.
>>
>>59219192
No one's running fire blast.
The reason to use Corvikinght is that your win condition against many teams hinges on just 1 mon that can actually hurt the bird.
On Zard teams, you get rid of zard. If you see rotom, you get rid of that. So many physical mons straight up cannot deal with Corvi.
Ttars biggest threats are physical and numerous. The sand already does wonders for its special bulk.
I think sometimes we get an idea that sounds good in our head, but doesn't do what it's supposed to in practice.
>>
>>59219205
So I guess Iron Defense is just more useful on Corviknight in most situations. I do like Light Screen because things like Heat Wave, Blizzard, and Muddy Water seem prominent. On Mega Ttar I’m using Rock Slide, Knock Off, Dragon Dance, and Protect.

Reached Ultra and I don't feel like playing anymore
>>
>>59219437
Ultra is a bitch because it's full of tryhards chasing every trend they believe is meta or they saw in a yt vid.

>>
>>59219593
What's amazing is how few of them ever just protect T1. Fake out Venu, ko it. Why aren't they doing the obvious play?
>>

They usually just sleep powder my magic bounce Hatterene

Who is leading Charizard? Everyone I play against keeps it in the back
>>
>>59219602
What was nerfed about it
>>
>>59219621
I lead zard a lot except into sand matchups where I am liable to not bring it.
I also don't play the Venusaur sleep lottery because that's gay as aids.
>>
>>59219661
Activates only the first time and sticks with that type until switched out
>>
>>59219602
Why did they even nerf it? Was Greninja secretly broken on BSS/VGC?

>clefable is allowed in this format
>no one is using it
Why is this the case? I thought Clefable was considered a good mon all things considered. Is it just because Sneasler is everywhere or do other pokemon do what it does better?
>>
>>59219813
Clefable's always been ass in Doubles. It was it's prevo, Clefairy, who shined more due to it's access to Friend Guard and Eviolite.
>>
>>59219813
Sneasler and Kingambit, yes
>>
>>59219813
I've been using one because my team already had enough dark type weaknesses to put sinistcha on the team and a fairy weakness was useful for me. It gets the job done but man hospitality is so fucking busted and you really miss it. Oblivious is nice against setup mons but 25% on switch in with your redirector is just so nuts to give up.
>>
>>59219813
not good enough in doubles, doesn't have enough of a team to support to make worth on a singles team

Hey, can anyone give me some constructive criticism on this team? I basically use trick room, tailwind, or sableye or both trick room and tailwind depending on team preview but my winning is inconsistent snd 90% of my matches I lose at team preview basically.
Sometimes I think they will bring charizard but suddenly they lead with whimsicott and I didn’t bring talonflame, othertimes is reversed. Is my team just too difficult to read at team preview resulting in random decisions like that?
>>
imagine Hydreigon using the bathroom and needing to use one of the side heads with toilet paper in its mouth
>>
>>59219882
1- You need a better mega than toiletgator
2- You have too many support mons and not enough damage dealers
Any mon that resists cringegambit and gatorade will just outcarry your team. Ditch 1 of the ghosts or talonflame and put in a big dick mon that is worth supporting.
>>
>>59219882
Nice Special Attack Sneasler.
>>
>>59218487
I played it for one day and switched back to Sand because it felt like everybody I fought already had a plan for it.
>>
>>59219951
Getting rid of sableye will hurt but I can’t afford to lose sinischta, i’ll consider what you said thanks.
As for different mega, id rather not since im trying to build the team around it, i figured someone would say that but thanks anyway
I’m guessing movesets and EV spreads are fine?
>>
>>59219975
You should consider having a second mega to bring that works with your setup for when the gaytor has terrible matchups.
Perhaps ditch sableye for a complimentary mega, swap talonflame for pelli so you have weather control and tailwind and maybe wide guard that the dumb croc can use.
I'm not putting a super large amount of thought into this though, your team.
>>
>dont target the kingambit
>still get hit by sucker punch
?????????????
>>
>>59219990
How does that not make sense?
If you sucker punch somebody you are punching somebody who isn't looking or isn't expecting to be punched.
>>
>>59219986
Does gator have terrible matchups? Outside of when I misplay or open with the wrong lead, the only issues I’ve encountered are sylveon (who doesn’t get one shot by liquidation) and corviknight, who walls my entire team except talonflame and gator is like a 3hko on it if not messed up by intimidates or burns or iron defense.
>>
>>59219998
Yeah he can get debuffed to shit with willowisps or intimidate cycles and become a wet blanket.
You are also always risking an opposing fairy mon just switching in and fucking up your dragon attacks. Also he is a hard pokemon to speed control for and he's not super tanky, so aggressive fast mons and trick room heroes will fuck his life up too
>>
>>59219990
Nowhere in the move description does it say they have to be attacking the kingambit, just attacking in general.
>>
>>59220017
thats fucking stupid
>>
Sneasler... easy on the Floettes...
