Something interesting I noticed is prior to Gen 5, almost every Dragon type was either Flying or Ground thus making them 4x weak to ice.

The only fully evolved exceptions were the Latis(who were kept in check by Soul Dew being banned everywhere and were still weak to ice) and Kingdra(who was really good and only weak to other dragons).

I think Gamefreak did this intentionally both to cement Ice as the dragonslayer type(though this just lead to water types running Ice Beam, not ice types actually doing well) and keep Dragon mostly in check. Gen 5 moved away from this and was when the type got broken as hell
