Remoras have been found to cause stress to their rides and make them slower and exert more energy, and they also eat some of their food (even if it may arguably have simply gone to waste and drifted to the seabed otherwise) so if that isn't parasitism, what is it? Does an animal have to physically harm another to be a parasite? We don't consider that the case for cuckoos, so why not here? Is it that it's just borderline the issue? If it were more obvious that remoras slowed down their hosts would it be more clear? Not trying to be aggressive but it's a straightforward line of logic imo.
