>>What is your favorite Pokémon type to use in any PMD game and why?
water because i feel op as fuck being able to go on water. i know about ghosts but belly drain haunts me
>>How does storing items in Kangaskhan rocks work?
they get teleported in and out of her storage like phone alerts if she doesn't give you things or likewise. don't ask the time travel ones, they obviously didn't give af
>>Are there any new mainline Pokémon moves you think could have a cool gimmick in a new PMD?
pollen puff maybe but i'm starved for ideas
>>Are there fakemon designs in the PMD world as fictional characters, myths, etc... How are they?
no and doubtful
>>
>What is your favorite Pokémon type to use in any PMD game and why?
I like to play with some form of movement speed boosting move, be it agility or dragon dance. Agility is wide spreaded across types, but dragon dance is pretty much limited to the Dragon type, so I'll take that as my answer.
>How does storing items in Kangaskhan rocks work?
You put items in the pouch, and they get sent to the storage. You search trough the pouch and pull items out.
>Are there any new mainline Pokémon moves you think could have a cool gimmick in a new PMD?
Syrup Bomb could make an item sticky. Probably too op, but it'd be cool if court swap could reveal traps in a room and make them work on enemies instead of you (viceversa if they already work on the enemies). Pollen Puff would be plain cool to have both healing and damage in one move (It could be in DX, but I have no clue).
>Are there fakemon designs in the PMD world as fictional characters, myths, etc... How are they?
I could see tales of extraordinary pokemon being warped overtime until said individuals end up being descrived as a completely diferent species. (I belive I heared that's how norce gods were created? I have no idea.)

>30 hours to beat the main story of Rescue Team
>>
>>59221035
Thread discussion point:
If you were hired by Creatures Inc and Chunsoft to direct a new entry in the PMD series, how'd you handle it?
What kind of story and mechanics would you include?
>>
>>59221040
I beat all the games except the Japanese Wiiware title years ago.
But you are right that I should play them again. They are objectively the best Pokémon games and Super Mystery Dungeon and Explorers of Sky are essentially open world RPGs full of challegnes and adventure that can run flawlessly on a literal brick.
However I am too depressed for that right now.
>>
>>59221761
I'd try to copy the pixel artstyle from Rescue Team and Explorers. I'd include as many mons from Gens 1-9 as possible (primarily from 7-9 + Every starter, legendary and fan favorites from gens 1-6. Most of Gens 1, 5 and 6 will be included by default.). I'd aim to have about 700 Pokémon in total.

The main story would be focused moreso on exploration. There wouldn't be any major world ending threats. Maybe a few bandits, or smaller scale calamities, but nothing too big.

It'd start with the partner, and a newly formed Exploration Guild touching down on a largely unexplored continent. The partner would find the recently transformed player, and form a team with them. There'd be a story arc about Marshadow, who leads a group of thieves. You'd compete with them throughout the story. The final boss would probably be Terapagos, who exiats at the bottom of a giant crystal cave filled with paradox mons and many crystal themed Pokémon (Glimmora, Gigalith, Carbink etc.) and some tera mons. The post game would then have a number of story arcs focusing on different legendaries. Like an Ultra Space story surrounding Necrozma and the Ultra Beasts, or one where you face Eternatus alongside Zacian and Zamazenta.

I don't know if that counts, but:
>Set in the Mystery Dungeon world
>Action combat
>Instead of weapons in traditional RPGs, you have 6 moves.
>For example, Tackle is a short dash that damages everything in its path, Flamethrower works like an FPS flamethrower that shoots a beam of constantly damaging fire, Protect is your block that shields from attacks in a 180 degree radius in front of you, Counter is your parry that stuns the enemy, HiJumpkick makes you jump like Super Mario and does damage if you land on an enemy or hurts you if you miss, Strength lets you grab an enemy and fling it forward at another enemy, stealth rocks lets you place pointy rocks in a radius for area denial, etc.
>Every Pokémon has the Dash and Jump actions by default.
>Every Pokémon can swim in water but only water types can move at full speed and attack while swimming. Lava will do very heavy damage instantly cause burn on any non-fire mons. There are also now posion swamps that will cause heavy damage and poison non-poison or steel Pokémon.
>Some powerful moves like Fire Strom or status moves like Sword Dance and Slack Off need to be charged up by landing normal attacks or using Elixir.
>The game has a handcrafted overworld with settlements, dungeon entrances, overworld "microdungeons" like enemy camps, overworld POIs and hidden eastereggs.
>Dungeons are procedurally generated like in the Mystery Dungeon games and made up out of corridors and rooms, however they also have envoiremental features like sleeping rooms, kitchens, storerooms and such implying that the enemy Pokémon live there. Once you enter you can't leave unless you have an Escape Orb.
>>
>>59222044
>Most items from the Mystery Dungeon games still exist including orbs, seeds, Treasure Boxes and throwables. The spike items can be flung forward like throwing knives in action games, and scale off your attack stat now so they are not useful. Rocks are thrown in an arc and cause a small AOE on impact as they shatter.
>You can choose to play as any base form, or baby form if present, non-legendary non-mythical Pokémon at the start. Some will be marked as recommended like starters, some will be marked as hard like weak Pokémon like bidoof and some will be marked as easy like ones that evolve into pseudo legendaries or ones like Absol that start fully evolved already.
>New items include equipment. Depending on your anatomy you can equip items like scarves, bracelets, hats and helmets, boots, gloves or even tunics and blankets. These will physically show up on your character and have different effects like raising stats, raising damage of certain types, lowering damage recieved from certain types, increased loot drop luck and more. Equipment is mainly gotten from Mystery Boxes or job board rewards, but can rarely be found lying around in dungeons too.
>It's on PC. I don't want to buy a Switch 2. PC is best platform.

Nice descriptions, good work

Stun orb is my favourite Orb. I also like Escape Orbs.
A lot of them are situational and I tend to just sell those, especially One Room orb. What is that even good for? I guess you can sweep a room with Earthquake or Roar of time, but if you don't have those, One Room Orb means getting dogpiled to death.
>>
>>59223039
In general, I think you'd use the One-Room Orb as a paseudo luminous orb when you're ready to take the stairs as a way to see if you're potentially leaving behind items, or if you see or assume the stair are behind a little stretch of walls, but you0d have to loop around the floor to reach there.

The spicier use would be to unearth wall items in the dungeons that feature them. You've got stat boosters in buried relic and the absolute meme that it's the banana in some dungeons with forest tilesets in Rescue Team. As for Explorers, I know the dungeon you unlock after aegis cave has wall items, but idk which one or if you'd bother with them.

It's definitvely much cooler in Shiren, where there can be hidden treasure rooms with no coridors leading there. In fact, thinking of uses for the one room orb made me think of a way to potentially get the shopkeer stukc behind paralized (stuned) enemies and robing his shop, since when you use one whne there's a shop, the shopkeeper runs to guard the stairs intead of the room with the shop.
>>
>>59223114
I used a One Room Orb to throw at Shedinja once. He would catch the first orb but the second orb would hit him for I think it was 2 damage. 2 orbs and he was down. Using iron thorns would probably have been more efficient but I didn't have any on me at that time.
That's literally the most use I got out of them.

Is rest any useful in Mystery Dungeon?
Unlike the mainline games, where rest restores your health on the same turn as it should do, in Mystery Dungeon it only restores your health at the end of the sleep status, so you will die before the health refill in most situations.
>>
>>59224059
Just use Rest when no enemies are around. It doesn't last that long and you can often find a good time to use it.
>>
>>59223039
iirc using a one-room orb when there's a monster house on the floor turns the entire floor into a giant monster house

Not fakemon but I like to think that the natives have no idea of what humans look like and depict them very inaccurately.

a mystery dungeon with type shifting effects and crystal themes would have been cool as fuck and its sad we didnt get one
>>
>>59224960
For the low low price of loosing your stab, you get to be a bug type!
>>
>>59224192
I guess one thing you can to is get behind your partner in a corridor and then use rest.
Or use that one other anons beloved Mobile Scarf to go into a wall and rest inside the wall.
I still like Slack off more because it works mid fight and only costs one turn.
>>
>>59225001
in sv you keep stab their original stab though so i dont see why they couldbt just do that here too

Z Moves are evil, Gigantamax is evil and Terracrystal-whatever is evil.
Only megas should be allowed in Mystery Dungeon like Absol flying dog, 2 Kangaskhans on the same tile, 2 maws Mawile or utterly broken Rayquaza.

I think healing moves are just generally less useful in PMD considering how much easier it is to use healing items most of the time, and it'd usually better to have an extra attacking move incase you run out of PP.

Then again I've never done a 99 floor dungeon so maybe they have some niche use there.
>>
>>59227373
I will talk up Rest in Level 1 dungeons once more.

>cures Poison, which can kill you
>a full HP heal whenever you need it, saving bag space and letting you ensure you enter new floors at 100%
>removes move seals, letting you negate one type of trap unless Rest got sealed lmao
>>
>>59227373
Healing moves are way more useful in PMD thatn in mainline, cos in PMD, you can use them after combat, without then being punched in the face, unlike in mainline.

Also in mainline, you can buy way more healing items that you'll ever need, whereas in PMD, your healing items take up limited bag space.

If you run out of moves, just use an elixir, 4head.
>>
>>59226437
It's unironically better than the original
>>
>>59227502
>>59227963
Goes to show I should actually attempt a level 1 or 99 floor dungeon in PMD sometime. I have actually completed them in Shiren before, surely PMD ones can't be much harder.
>>
How many of you furfags have actually ever even touched a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game or even a Shitren game?
You all just want to be transformed into colorful animals with super powers and rape other colorful animals with super powers.
>>
>>59228414
>transformed into colorful animals with super powers and rape other colorful animals with super powers.
Strangely enough, transformation stuff seems way less common in the PMD fandom than the rest of the Pokemon fandom.
