If you have general knowledge about leads, counters, switches, and speed tiers theoretically you should be able to switch teams and start to pilot it well after a while but I think for the most part you'll probably lose at the start. Maining teams to achieve a goal is what most top players do. I.e. wolfes rank 1 team and Aaron's 17 wins streak team.

I feel like the monetization system for champs is good, but once you run out of training tickets it becomes broken. i think the best way to look at competitive pokemon is it is very similar to a card game, like Pokemon tcg or Master Duel if youve played those.
You might not know perfectly what the opponent is having, but for the most part you know what the opponent is about to do.

In any case, think of garchomp as your off-rain strat, when you are fighting sand or something. With tailwind up, he should be picking up pretty nice damage with EQ spam.
For the average lead, against any normal team, you cant go wrong with pelipper + basc. You threaten big water damage immediately, and you can set up tailwind with Peli.
Against charizard, there are no better leads than Aerodactyl and Sneasler, with Peli in the back. If you fake out the venusaur lead, dual wingbeat should kill venu. If you think thats too agressive, you can fake out and rock slide, and next turn bring in Peli. Archaludon always wants tailwind, so protect plus tailwind aerodactyl is a lead if you think opponent will just play slow.

How can I improve on my team? I'm a huge scrub so I can't get out of Ultra Ball. I'm sure it's a lot down to skill but I feel my team could be better. Sinistcha is there for support and countering Trick Room teams but I rarely bring it. Anything better I should be running instead? Should I be looking into a completely different team? I wanna keep using Feraligatr (and I honestly don't think it's the weak link of the party right now)

Aqua Jet ends up serving a different utility. I'm even considering switching Dragon Dance for Swords Dance because of it

With the amount of Incin's running around, a lot of my battles were actually won by spammig Muddy Water lol. I mean, it's a weak move, but with Coil it becomes 100% ACC, which eliminates those key misses. And even at +2Sp.A it's already hitting pretty hard. It gets even better when they parting shot and bring Incin in back later.
+4Sp.A/+2Def/+2Acc fat and bulky Milo on the field free to spam Muddy Waters/Hypnosis? Don't mind if I do.

The thing about DD is that you switch out a lot in doubles so it ends up feeling like a wasted moveslot, just use coaching.

Personally I like running a screener on my team to cuck people from doing too much damage to feraligatr, i run rain dance on that to cuck fire and snow weather but if you’re using archaludon I don’t think you have much room for that.

People seem to not be interested in singles all that much here.
But for the most part, just letting the opponent set up and then tossing scarf ditto is probably better, with rotom pivoting to a bulkier set instead of your fast volt switch, even if you feel comfortable with it The name of the game in singles is setting up; getting one swords dance/ddance for free, or setting up hazards is golden. I just dont see any synergy in your team really. I think your team is not bad, you have good coverage for a lot of threats im seeing in singles at least

I did some more battling this morning before work and switched ditto with Orthworm to no success (bad opener really)

They gutted singles, cast it to the side to rot in the sun, and then trampled on it. It's a damn shame and that makes so much sense. No wonder I see so many Asian names and almost no American ones

With the 3 on 3 set up, I don't see team synergy as necessary, as much as two teams of possibity coverage: special walls/special weak and physical walls/physical weak (yes that reads as four but when building it's two). You don't think the six present (switch Ditto for Orthworm) is ideal? What team are you running? I'd like to run a sample team, as I built this one myself (using the Mon I like primarily, hence the Croak instead of Sneasler)....but nobody who isn't an annoying YouTuber plays singles. I may have to become a YouTuber just to make it big

I'm also using mega dnite on sand and it so good in certain matchups. Inner focus stops fake outs, then sets tailwind or drops a nuclear draco meteor or thunder, and there isn't a hit in the game that can ohko it. It pretty much always gets 1.5 kills and tailwind up.
