98ers which one had a bigger impact on you, Gen 3 or Gen 4?
>>
Gen 5. Gen 3 was annoying (played fire red first in first grade). Gen 4 was slow and I had no idea of the internet so couldn't utilize it to its fullest. Gen 5, everything came together
>>
>>59225930
4. GTS made the social aspect of the series 10x better. Only time they reached this level of success was Gen 6 with the PSS.
>>
>>59225930
I'm not a 98er but my brother is. HeartGold is one of his favorite games of all time.
>>
B2W2, probably because it was my first after silver but I really liked it
>>
>>59225930
Gen 1. Nothing beats the OG
>>
>>59225930
It's obviously Gen 4 for 98ers
Gen 3 for 95-96
>>
Reading comprehension in the shitter
>>
>>59226196
I comprehended it completely. I chose to give a completely different answer
>>
Gen 3 because I shared my first gen 4 playthrough with my pokemon, and then I felt too old for pokemon for like 3 years and started playing cod and halo and then I got a clue and actually chilled and played Nintendo again
>>
I'm surprised more '98 kids had DS than GBA
>>
>>59225930
Def Gen 4. When HG/SS were announced I damn near shit my soul because Gen 2 and Johto as a whole seemed so mysterious and foreign to me since I didnt care much for Hoenn and only played Kanto in Gen 1, 3 and Sinnoh in 4.

Being able to visit Johto for the first time blew my mind
>>
Obviously Gen 4
>>
>>59225930
Gen 3.
>>
'99 here. It was gen 3 for me.
>>
I had an older brother so I started with Kanto and Johto and Gen 3 was just kind of another gen, Gen 4 ended up being the gen that made everyone around me quit on the series and I also found Sinnoh shit so it would be that by virtue.
>>
>>59225930
Gen 4 was when I got my action replay and learned about genning which led me to learn about stat spreads and team building which led me to believe competitive pokemon was actually a good idea and my life went fucking downhill from there but I loved gen 5 way more, it was refreshing to have a brand new dex finally.
>>
Gen 4
>>
>>59225930
Gen 3.
I got introduced to the games through FR, my friend had a GBA and he would let me play it whenever I visited him, a few years after that I learned about emulation and played the shit out every GBA game I could find, specially pokemon.
>>
Late 97er here. Ruby/Sapphire were the newest games when i started getting into Pokemon but i got used copies of Silver and Yellow instead (they were really not expensive, like less than 10 dollars each). The first brand new game i got was Leaf Green.
>>
>>59225930
4. HGSS are the best Pokémon games of all time.

Did you play them on your GBA or did you have a GBC first?
>>
>>59225930
3. It was the one I played the most. Also, 94 here.

99er here!!!
4 for the games
3 for the anime though
>>
>>59226782
As a 2000 child I had a GBA for a while and got my own DS around the time Platinum came out.

Gen 3 for getting me into the series. Still have just as much nostalgia for gen 4, my friends and I stuck with the series until gen 5 filtered the normies amongst us.
>>
>>59225930
my first Pokemon game was Sword
>>
>>59229531
You poor bastard
>>
>>59229535
yeah I hated it... but then I got Shining Pearl and Legends Arceus

idk, leafgreen and emerald were the first games i played, but gen 4 is when i got more involved with stuff like team building, pvp, battle facilities. both my fav gens
>>
>>59225930
I'm from 96 and this hits hard
>>
>>59226173
larping ass zoomer
>>
>>59226782
You aren't conscious enough for videogames until you're 7 years old or 8 years old. DS came out in like 2005 when they were 7. They were less likely to have been given their own GBAs earlier.
>>
>>59228781
you're a late millennial, solidly wasn't asked
although, interesting to me personally to see you're not a toddie
must end at '93
>>
>>59229548
because most of that was in fact experienced by late millennial kids
nothing in that image is definitively early zoomer besides Black Ops II, so it's fairly fraudulent in that sense
>>
>>59230196
>You aren't conscious enough for videogames until you're 7 years old or 8 years old.
what kind of bullshit is this
>>
Nah as a 96er it has to be 4.
>online play and trade with GST
huge
>phys/spec split
huge even though we were too dumb to notice or care
>two of the best games with HG/SS and Platinum
huge
>pokemon God
huge
>introduced with the DS, immensely popular, we were using it to play games, trade mons and pictochat in class
huge, can't do that with link cables son

Also you could play gen 3 games and transfer them to 4 with pal park, so if anything it gave me an appreciation for them that I wouldn't have if I needed multiple handhelds to transfer.
>>
>>59225930
I hate that 98 is now considered 'zoomer' I still remember when Millennials were those born up to 2005
>>
>>59225930
Born ‘00, and Sapphire was my second Pokemon game after Diamond.
I don’t remember much from my first time playing Diamond but I definitely remember really enjoying Sapphire and completing things like the Regi puzzles with the help of a printed out fanmade walkthrough. Most of my favorite Pokemon came from Hoenn too, I still remember seeing Drake’s Salamence and Steven’s Cradily and thinking they were the coolest things ever. Good times.
>>59230208
Not the same person, but I assume they mean that you can’t read or comprehend things like puzzles well enough to play most video games until you’re around that age.
>>
>>59230275
generations were poorly understood and then only primitively conceived

1998 being actually unambiguously zoomer has been well documented in the past 8 years since zoomers were even conceptualized
>>
>>59230322
I mean I'd say Millennials stopped being born after 9/11 because that triggered a major culture shift
>>
>>59230357
In America, sure, but not so much elsewhere.
>>
>>59230357
'98 zoomers were 3 years old at most when it happened, ninny
>>
>>59230390
Yeah, I was born in 98 and I remember the shift vaguely. You could argue it took a few years for the shift to be noticable. No later than 2005.
>>
'97 here.
Gen 4
>>
>born right when pokemania started
>became conscious right after pokemania ended
1998 is the most cucked year to be born in as a pokemon fan
