>>59227672Maschiff with its ears up

>>59227672I wear that jacket in SV
>>59227681It's so fucking uglyI don't know why gf keeps trying to make mons that look like cheap 50's cartoons
>>59227891ironically did it better with Maschiff than most of the gen 5 pokedex despite going for that exact feel
>>59227908kojo...
>>59227891It's a cultural thing; I wonder what it would look like with a more neutral expression?
>>59227971the stupid ugly jaws and teeth being a perfect semicircle are what's offputting about it to me
>>59227681Gross....
>>59227681>>59227971why are they so scared?
>>59227971Notice how the american thug is the one trying way too hard to look menacing lol
>>59228004Oi!
>>59227971But why? Do the Japanese make worried faces when angry? I thought human expressions basically the same throughout all cultures (there are differences but it’s more about how strongly the expansion is shown and when it’s appropriate to show it). Ive seen angry Asians irl and and they don’t look much more like the left than the right.
>>59228020Although the expressions are similar, the context is different. For example, in many Asian cultures, smiling is used when you're angry or to end an awkward conversation. This leads to misunderstandings with foreigners whose culture lacks a strong cultural context. For those who like manga, it's what's known as "reading the air" in japan.
>>59227891The women at gamefreak wanted human girl x dog art so they approved that shit onto the pokedex
>>59228014And the japanese thug looks scared as shit too but you glaze it anyways because they slapped "japanese" on it
>>59227971>>59228018I always thought this expression was more of a facade of or implication of confusion. Like, "You're REALLY trying me?"
>>59228077>Low contextHigh human development index countries>High contextLow human development index countries
>>59228077>>59228232part of the issue here is that this is not at all a good view to analyze differences between western and eastern culture. It's like saying the west's proclivity for bread is why we developed nukes and the east's preference for rice is why they made anime. It's zoomed in on a tiny aspect of culture and implying it's more important than it is, and especially in a specific venue that is illogical to approach from that perspective.
>>59227672my mom's dog
>>59227681god what an ugly piece of shit
>>59227971Doesn't the existence of Dragon Ball Z completely blow this out of the water?
>>59228316thug
>>59228251I have bad news about your mom, Arven.
>>59228341Ah, thought it meant angry eyebrows in general. Though now that you point it out, Scrafty also kinda looks like he's making this expression.
>>59229469
>>59228077>in many Asian cultures, smiling is used when you're angry or to end an awkward conversationI have seen this many times in micro dramas, now that I think of it.
>>59228224TRUTH NUKE
