1. Pokopia wasn't made by Gamefreak but by some turd party company that also Made the Dragon Quest Builders games.
2. Pokopia is only on Switch 2 and there is no Switch 2 emulator yet so I can't play it so the game is effectively worthless and may aswell not exist besides uselessly hogging up one space on the /vp/ log.
>>
>>59228536
1. It was supervised by GF and made by a big name developer, get your facts together.
2. It's nobody's fault you don't have a Switch 2. If my poor ass could buy it then most western people have no excuse.
>>
>>59228530
Is it worth picking up Pokopia? I was burned by ZA recently so I've been hesitant to get the new pokemon game. Loved legends arceus. Could not get into ZA unfortunately.
>>
>>59228545
>It was supervised by GF and made by a big name developer, get your facts together.
So it was made by a turd party company, not Gamefreak.
>It's nobody's fault you don't have a Switch 2. If my poor ass could buy it then most western people have no excuse.
Dumb jew I am not paying 500€ for you Switch 2 and 80€ for your game when PC is stronger, faster and better and can run more games, not only but including Pokémon games.

I'd say it's absolutely worth picking up if you already have a Switch 2. It's refreshingly different from the restrictive structure of the main series game. You can do your own thing regardless of where you are in the story, and go back to the the plot when you feel like it. There's a ton of stuff you could build if you're creative, and even if you're not really (I'm nowhere as good as most people posting their stuff on /pkp/), just making simple houses for your favorite mons and watching them hang out together is fun.
>>
>>59228536
>Koei is turd
>>
Pokopia wouldn't even exist if Masuda was still in charge. Instead you'll get a personal hygiene mobile app called Pokemon Wipe.
>>
>>59228712
I never played a Koei game before but I know for a fact that they're better than GF and hope they're here to stay.
>>
>>59228718
Meanwhile in reality, Masuda was in charge for the golden age of spinoffs. It was only after Hackimori ran him out of the director's chair that TPC started winding down the spinoffs and replacing them with mobile trash.
>>
>>59228530
Legpiss was post-Masuda GF. Pokopia is Koei Tecmo.
>>
>>59228530
>>downgraded Kanto experience
>>stripped down gameplay
You didn't play the game.
>>
>>59228536
>"i'm poor so the world should stop releasing new things because i cant buy them"
>>
>>59228730
We haven't had a good spinoff since Explorers of the Sky or Guardian Signs, whichever happened later. Masuda was fully out of the picture only a couple years ago and the worst mobile spinoffs were made during his reign. There was even an interview when he explicitly said pokemon should take after mobile games.
>>59228732
Masuda literally directed LGPE. As >>59228718
said, the point is that Pokopia is the product of a change of direction in GF, which Masuda wouldn't have allowed.
>>
>>59228741
I did and anyone you ask will say that LGPE is a straight downgrade from FRLG.
>>
>>59228730
And had exactly ZERO say in their production, because that was TPC's remit. TPC started "winding down" full games because revenues of spin offs had dropped off a cliff, culminating in Super Mystery Dungeon being an absolute abject failure for the dev budget they'd put in. They were a casualty of the gaming industry's desire for progress(you may have wanted another shitty 2D system, but the people Nintendo know buys their shit didn't care about that when they could get that kind of shit on their phones for free).
It's also worth nothing despite you growing up in spin off city, the golden age of spin offs was Pokémania when Nintendo staffers were making them (ie staff who gave a fuck about making a good game full stop, before adding the pokémon skin on top) and it actually took Game Freak entering the spin off ring with their own spin off idea (yet again ripped off from other genres from other studios, naturally) for people in general to actually start giving a shit the spin offs existed.
>>
>>59228753
The golden age of spin offs were the Gamecube and Wii days.
>>
>>59228747
You do understand dexit, dropping remakes and rehashes and all they said they were doing going into Gen 8 is the cause of that too? They have TIME as a studio to "think outside the box" of their series and not have to slavishly shit out a remake after a rehash after a new Gen pair, because they've decided one game does three years, meaning the rest the time afforded from not having to run two other 3-ish year devteams riffing on one game but can actually workshop game ideas and the like.
It's almost as if the fruits of dexit are akin to the fruits of an apple sapling and take years to grow and mature and appear. The video game industry is NEVER "Push button, get game", dunno why you cunts think Game Freak work like that.
>>
>>59228770
Okay. Your point?
>>
>>59228764
>"NUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, it was am muh childhood"
Nah. I actually bought Nintendo-made Pokémon spin-offs. I have yet to touch any TPC's efforts. Because the marketing company made them specifically for retarded 7 year old children, to keep them eating the brand until Game Freak released the next new wave of creatures for TPC to market the shit out of once again. It's the same way as they never actually cared about Ash other than as a stand-in for the current new Gen pair's male MC as for years the point of him was hit the story beats of the game while advertising the brand to children for 22 minutes. But much like the guaranteed profit from shitting out a mid spin off dried the fuck up in 3D, the point of needing the kid who granddad looks up to in the 22 minute long toy advert atrophied to the point it was detrimental tot heir aims keeping him around.
>>
>>59228753
>>59228790
Are you AI generating these?
>>
>>59228790
Pokemon Stadium was good, but a battle sim is shit compared to the likes of Rangers, Mystery Dungeon, Conquest, Pokepark etc.
>>
>>59228801
A battle sim with decent graphics and modern mechanics can be fun too. I enjoy Champions... enjoyed, for like 3 days. But I'm not a competitive autist so.

There's also a brand new project started up (codename Karasu, I think) not listed here and also no actual confirmation of Seed being in production (likely a casualty of Teraleak and Game Freak's dislike of being predictable or the overall fanbase guessing their next steps, so likely replaced by Karasu) that none of them would have been greenlit and put into production in the 3DS days, as they were VERY much of the "fuckit, retreads are the way to go" mentality, with Bank still having holdover handler data for XY2 versions. The point is it was Masuda who announced Game Freak current-day aims, intents and dev plans when he said "we're cutting the pokédex, going forward no game will have every created pokémon available", but under his watch, the studio still knew barely-changed games and remakes were still the best way to make money off their IP after new Gen pairs (because again, easier to copy/paste any existing maps and spend dev budget over three games creating only one new unique map, whereas Paldea, Kitikami, the Terarium, Lumiose and Pokopia ALL have different maps to each other, with different landmarks, details and buildings).
>>
>>59228744
If you can afford a Switch 2 you are either rich as fuck, or retarded. Most likely both, because even if you were some oil mogul, it's just not worth the money for a shit underpowered gaming device.
>>
>>59228821
I'm sorry bro, hope it gets better.
>>
>>59228801
Anon, those games are only mildly interesting if you happened to be the target age at their release. The Famicom was released 2 months before I was born, so by the time they even say light of day, much less genesis of idea, I was well outside their interest reach as I'd either moved onto the games in the genres they were riffing on made for actual ault gamers, or had dismissed the genres as disinteresting to my gaming interests (if Pokémon Conquest had been a feudal Japan-set hack'n'slash with Pokémon I'd have been ALL over it. As it was what it was, I ignored it after realising it wasn't going to be swish).
>>59228791
No, but even if I was, it'd likely still be giving the same kind of responses. AI's intelligent enough to understand Pokémon spin offs are made by TPC and Pokémon games by Game Freak and that developers can get many different projects enacted with time and money - both things Game Freak do not lack for, given they're financially backed by Nintendo for game developments and took steps in 2016 to ensure they as a studio could have time to explore projects 10 years from the year they made the decision to cut the pokédex.
>>
>>59228821
Yeah, have to be A or B. Couldn't be C "I knew Nintendo projected a 7-ish year lifespan for Switch 1 and had heard HEAVY speculation regarding a successor system in 2022, leading me to save up the required $500 in time for its global release some2 and a half years later".
Because that's what ACTUALLY happened, my workmates did a whip-'round for my 40th three years ago in work and I put the money they'd given me away and kept throwing away $50 ever so often until I had the money for release. But I'm an adult, with an adult job, and adult wage and an adult ability to budget for luxury expense entertainment items. So I was able to buy a system NEET kiddies think it "too expensive" because mummy told them to fuck off when they asked her to buy it for them.
>>
>>59228843
They're better than a battle sim by default. Mystery Dungeon games alone have more fun gameplay than mainline Pokemon.
>>
>>59228851
Didn't give a shit for the battle sim back in the day either (to be fair, I wanted a PS2, had no interest in an N64, other than to use cart pokémon in stadium to get the rewards for the cart pokémon to go back to surf pikachu, etc). There is a fundamental disconnect between (You)r personal experience of the things as a child of the demographic and era and my experience of them as a 20 year old son of a legitimate baby boomer mother. PS2 saw 4 separate rougelikes released before TPC released their pokémon skinned one and if I didn't give a fuck for the 4 PS2 efforts, what makes you think I'd care about Pokémon's? Because it has a pokémon skin? As I said, you needed to be a child of the era to care. That's why PMD DX sold fuck-all to date, while Pokopia's 4-day sales total outsold it by 300,000 (I'll be honest, I was tempted by Pokopia, but the main draw was it being a Game Freak idea. Just not holed playing minecraft/building sim mash-up), which is another damning indictment in and of itself, Game Freak's name alone generated more buzz for a pokémon spin off than the series has seen since the days of Pokémania. It's even in danger of outselling Stadium's spin off high water mark, which again all goes back to Game Freak (Stadium was Game Freak's game engine on telly, Pokopia's Game Freak's own ideda for a spin off) and how the public only cares if their name's on the project.
>>
>>59228945
wanted a PS1 in '98/'99 sorry. Got a PS2 december '01.
>>
kwab brokies can't afford switch 2
>>
>>59228945
You worship the Nintendo-made spin offs but how were they any better than games like Mystery Dungeon? It doesn't matter if the PS2 had a million rogue-likes, in the discussion of Pokemon spin offs, mystery dungeon is better than trying to talk to Pikachu through a shitty mic.
>>
>>59228712
It's a turd party company, aka not Nintendo, Gamebfreak or Creatures Inc but a hired studio.
>>59228744
You don't stay or get rich by throwing away your mone recklessly and gifting it to DA JOOOS 2 get some piece of shit console that is worse than the mighty gaming PC.
>>
>>59228747
>Masuda literally directed LGPE.
So? It's still post-Masuda GF. Just because they'll stick him on some low-effort demakes like Legpiss or BDSP just to give him something to do doesn't mean he has any real influence over the franchise's direction anymore.
>>
>>59229655
No it isn't. Masuda works at GF.
>>
>innovative gameplay
Is this anon serious?
>>
>>59229005
Lucky I didn't "throw it away recklessly", given I still have my old Game Boy, Game Boy Colour, DS Lite, 3DS OG, NN3DSXL (SM edition) Switch OG AND Switch OLED editions and undoubtedly will still be receiving new game releases for Switch 2 in 9 years time, considering the stll haven't officially killed off Switch 1.
Again, you missed the part where I said I knew how to budget. That means not in fact "going poor" because I ensure my incomings cover my outgoings while still putting aside a few quid every couple of weeks over 104 weeks (started putting away for it around Sept. '23. I HAD the cost of it by Sept '24, but Nintendo didn't want my money then).
>>
>>59229819
tldr
>>
>>59229690
Pokopia is innovative in the pokemon vacuum. Heck it's more ambitious than anything we got in the last 20 years.
>>
>>59228530
I'm not buying pokopia, it's not the type of game i believe i'll enjoy.
>>
Isn’t pokopia just dragon quest builders: Pokemon edition?
>>
>>59229876
Yes literally the same devs.
But I think Pokopia has no combat (???) so it is worse than Dragon Quest Builders.
>>
>>59229879
No combat makes sense given the plot, and I don't see the need for it in this game.
>>
>>59229823
lrn2adult, stop being a brown pleb.
>>
>>59229895
>and I don't see the need for it in this game.
Combat means more fun.
No combat means sad.
>>
>>59229899
You sound like you're not of age to be using this site.
>>
>>59229677
He is quite literally not allowed to exert any real control over the franchise anymore and hasn't been since midway through XY's development. Teraleaks revealed all of this months ago. Sorry you're not up to date, I guess.
>>
>>59229902
Sad backwards is das, and das alright, because Pokopia is fun as is.
Seriously though, there's plenty that could be added and fixed, but I don't think the game needs combat. Some other kind of minigame would be good though. Maybe pokemon racing?
>>
>>59229910
Dude I don't follow everything tweeter people say but as a matter of fact, he's been directing games up to BDSP.
>>
>>59229911
>Sad backwards is das, and das alright, because Pokopia is fun as is
Lame pun
>>
>>59229876
Not quite, that's overstated because it's the same dev team. Pokopia isn't a RPG like DQB is, it does have a story, but it's a pure life sim in terms of gameplay. There's no combat, just building, crafting, farming, and spawning Pokemon.
>>
>>59229904
Yeah, I findf myself typing like you kids talk here, while in civilised parts of the internet I converse differently, because those I talk to out there are actual adults not 20-somethings determinedly crying they aged out of the target demographic years ago and it's Game Freak's fault somehow.
>>
>>59229912
The games he's directed after XY have been cheap low-effort remakes of existing games, not the first games of actual new regions. Those are not the same thing and certainly not on the same level of significance, and it's disingenuous to pretend otherwise.
GF won't let him take a director job that actually requires any creative input anymore because he had the gall to expect the lazy entitled devs to do their jobs and cared what the fans thought about the games.
>>
>>59229937
>not on the same level of significance
People were very eager for BDSP and very pissed when Masuda butchered it, so I'd say it was significant.
>>
>>59229945
Really? 'Cause Game Freak started L: A around the same time as SV and released it to far greater fanfare than BDSP got (realistically, 3m+ people bought 6m+ copies between them, as they're the double-dipper cunts, leaving just 9m- to buy the rest. 15m individual people bought 15m cpies of L: A between them because it wasn't artificially obfucticated by being "the same damn game as the other version, but with a different pokémon on the box"). Seems the "significance" of retards on the internet throwing a wobbly as Game Freak grenelit the production of a remake, that wasn't the type of remake the retards expected wasn't so much. They knew you retards were irrelevant to the casual market's reception of their games.
>>
>>59229945
Anyone who had high expectations for any remake after ORAS and Legpiss was already retarded.

Similar boat as you. Loved PLA but ZA felt undercooked. Pokopia is currently my favorite game on the console. Not a long list admittedly, but it's a legitimately good game and feels like it outdoes animal crossing in a lot of ways.

Pokopia, New Snap, and PMD DX are literally the only good Pokemon games of the Switch era.
