The development of the 2nd demo is still in progress. Here's what I have planned for it:
- Will be 6-7 Gyms long (Depending on which one I pick, the demo ends either after defeating the 6th Gym or after defeating Mr. X, the leader of Team X)
- The 49 remaining Fakemon (included forms) will be available
- Almost every area (except Mt. Zephyr) will be accessible
- The 3 Mysterious Pokémon will be available for the player to catch

to be honest i like hacks that mix pokemon and fakemon because it's more like playing a new generation of pokemon. a lot of hacks want to be black and white but idk when black and white came out i was pretty sad that there were no new evolutions of old pokemon. mixing real mons and fakemon also gives people the chance to play through the game with pokemon they like even if they only like a few of the fakemon.

like ignoring the quality of solar light and lunar dark or uranium because they both kinda suck, but if they didn't suck i'd much rather play uranium. there's only a few uranium mons i like and i could substitute real mons for the rest of my team and still get to experience of while solar light lunar dark only has a weak dex going for it. same way i nostly use old guys in the newer gens.

and if a game does have cool fakemon i still think having some old favorites to use is just a win all around. plus im just a big fan of the idea of new evolutions for old pokemon (even if game freak is really good at fucking it up) really i come to romhacks for the experience of "a new pokemon game that doesnt suck" and yeahh there's not too many that deliver on that, and even less that actually have new pokemon like a new generation.

If you want to have overleveled mons to challenge the player without letting them overlevel themselves, you could program it to suppress experience gain from pokemon over a certain level. i've definitely seen hacks that turn off exp for certain battles before but im not a programmer so i guess youd have to figure that out yourself

Well yeah, Quartz is a romhack from 2006 they weren't doing much back then. It was actually pretty impressive for its time with all the map editing and original spritework and full fakemon dex it did do, even if the spritework is bad and the fakemon are goofy and the structure is still just Hoenn.

It certainly hasn't aged well but it's charming, it's nice to see a pseudo remake of it.

My favorite generation is Johto so it's not like I want everything to have a BW approach to a pokedex. That said, it's just a simple matter of keeping things separate for me. If I'm playing a fakemon hack i'm playing it for the fakemon 99% of the time. If I want to play something that feels like a new pokemon game I just play something with official mons. GF's laziness seems to have rubbed off on everyone nowadays anyway since fake regional forms have been everywhere.

Depends on what you want.
As far as exp gain goes, you can just give them a custom pokemon with way less exp gain. It looks like a Garchomp, quacks like a Garchomp, but this is actually a custom pokemon that isn't in the regular pokedex, named Garchomp, with a base exp yield of 12. Or just don't worry about it, 3 extra levels on something probably isn't the end of the world for balancing.
Badge gated caps also deal with it.

As far as the pokemon actually being capturable goes, moveset is probably the easiest control. Moves are arguably more important that level and stats early on. A level 20 with shitty moves sucks dick, and you can absolutely give it moves that are threatening as an overlevelled enemy, but bad for the player, like Slam, Dragon Rush, ect. Or really bad coverage, that the player can't deal with due to what's actually available, and then the next badge is something it struggles with.
None of these have to be permanent albatross around the pokemon's neck, either, give it good moves later.

Beldum is a weird one, because Metang is relatively early, and Metang is genuinely great. Easily the best second stage pseudo.
Most pseudo second stages are utter dogshit, which is what their actual problem is. Dragonair and Pupitar are just ass.
Metang is great, comes relatively early, and Metagross itself comes a bit earlier than the others, too. Garchomp has the same thing going for it.

I do think the 3 catch rate on beldum is excessive though. It being low is one thing, but 3 is genuinely just frustrating.

the idea is to have an optional death zone in the early-mid game that has worthwhile stuff in it when you return later, so the mons do 100% need to be catchable. I've settled on level 55-60 pokemon because that's around the level I want for the elite 4 anyway. my biggest concern is using the area to powerlevel pokemon with type advantage.

was playing nameless firered project the other day, and I like how it has gen 1-6 pokemon, but only 4-5 species per route and instead distributes pokemon in different ways (hidden grottoes, honey trees, swarms etc.). all these hacks with a bunch of new pokemon typically spam 10 pokemon per route and make you use dexnav. my question is are there any similar base enhancement hacks (firered/emerald) that distribute pokemon properly while still having a bunch of newer ones like rotom?

sorry for the double post. the reason I ask instead of just playing nameless firered project is because it is unbelievably buggy. helping hand freezes the game, charge and hidden power are broken (hidden power has 33 power and charge has 217 power), and too many events are locked behind the real time clock (e.g. trainers in cerulean cave can only be battled once per day to get the best tms, swarms are one per day, specific events like leveling up in a certain area for sliggoo as an example are time-dependent)

Odyssey shown me that breaking those is surprisingly easy despite in that hack devs ensures no endeavor+sturdy combo (etrian aron line has sturdy too but cannot learn the move) and focus sash doesn't exist there. All you need is a mon that can survive a hit and able to land any %hp DOT then just keep throwing bodies at the boss

The Great Marsh sucked, but I'd like to see more areas like that, the Safari Zone, and National Park show up in games that aim to cram in a lot of Pokemon. You could have multiple small areas like that strewn about the region. Take an idea like Bill's Secret Garden and just let the player peruse the breedjects of a collector or something.

This is a solved problem. Just give the bossmon multiple health bars with a cleanse inbetween. Fractional moves and Endeavor only do part of one health bar, instant kills only push one phase.

start with gaia, as it feels closest to a legitimate pokemon game with gen 6 mechanics, hidden grottoes etc.
unfortunately no postgame yet but it is one of the best hacks of all time, dated as it is now (no cfru/pokeemerald expansion yet, which is what v4.0 will have if it is ever released)
I haven't played prism or bw3: genesis but I have heard nothing but good things and the dev of peridot regularly posts here and it seems a well-constructed game, although I prefer gba hacks to gbc

Not much to know, just that there's unused snow weather and a handful of cut ice-themed pokemon. There was a bowling pin penguin called penpin that was the counterpart of spheal.

I'm pretty bad at Pokemon so I could just be missing something, but it feels like sweepers are barely useful in Tectonic compared to chip damage and tanking. The only pure sweeper I'm using is Sirfetch'd and it's rare that it gets time to set up
