The stalker girl is cute, but the game is kinda lackluster after the open-world wears off.

Yeah this is the Switch 2 version. I skipped out on the original release after seeing all the discourse about the glitches and bugs. Plus my backlog was more than enough to keep me busy.

Even if you pirated this shit would still be a bad deal because you should get payed for suffering through this shit.

Mental torment
Endless empty fields of copy paste assets.
Putrid artstyle
Pokémon aimlessly wandering around doing nothing.
Evil team is just a bunch of hooligans that I could beat up irl.

Easy difficulty
Shit boring gameplay

I think it’s actually fucking hilarious when entitled manchildren say this. Nigga the game isn’t made for you, you are playing a game for CHILDREN and complaining that it’s too easy

Children aren't dumb.
They deserve to be challenged. They deserve the satisfaction of overcoming a challenge using the tools the game has layed out to them.
I think that it is good for development if children learn to solve challenges and not give up even when it is difficult, rather than learning that they can get every victory handed to them on a platter.
Ot just add difficulty settings for different types of players.

>Switch 2
Good game that would be great given more time in the oven. It's got a decent story, good characters, more cool and cute new pokemon than /vp/ would ever admit, solid DLC, good OST. The "bad guy" team or whatever to call it is pretty ass, but it's a fun game. In my opinion the best pokemon game on switch overall.
>>
>>59239155
It's not even good mate, stop lying. Why do you even think it's good?
>>
>>59238761
SV is genuinly schizophrenic. I swear it actually looks better in handheld mode.

Overall though, the game has a very strong unity asset vibe. The whole thing is made worse by it so obviously wanting to be Breath of the Wild. A comparison that honestly makes the game come across as even more humiliating.
>>
>>59239155
>The "bad guy" team or whatever to call it is pretty ass,
I mean, I do like how it feels like the only time the game really uses it's school theme to full effect.

Honestly, my biggest non performance issue overall is just how pathetically easy it is. It makes the DS games look like Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. Actually exploring and making use of Tetralizing doesn't so much break the game as much as throw it off a fucking cliff. Not helped by the insane amount of power creep and insane access to powerful Pokemon.
>>
>>59238721
The way a game looks and runs is just two (arguably even just one) aspects of it. Yes, that part was horrendeous, and yes, it's embarrassing that they relased the game in a state like that. I literally said my first impression wasn't good.
However, that is just a small part of a whole game that determines its quality. The way it actually plays is completely fine. It's a fucking Pokémon game, it's been roughly the same gameplay for 30 fucking years, what do you expect? And I think the open world format improved the usual formula, because looking for new Pokémon to add to your team is more fun when you can actually look for them in the overworld. There is literally nothing fun running in circles in a patch of tall grass to find a 1% encounter. Absolutely nothing. And the screen transitions are annoying and a waste of time. Plus, having Pokémon in the overworld is way more immersive. So SV's gameplay is actually better than in most previous games.
You obviously haven't played the game, so how would you be able to grade its quality beyond absolute surface area impressions?
>>
>>59239250
Yeah Scarlet and Violet are very fun games, flying around with Koraidon catching mons was a blast and made me enjoy Pokemon again. A game of extremes, Team Star saga was very boring and the Pokemon League was shit, but I loved Nemona and Arven's story, especially. The DLCs are great too.
>>
>>59239281
Team Star's story is absolutely the weakest, but it's also pretty obvious that they put the least effort into it, which was the correct decision. The finale was the most important part by far, and it has a surprising amount of polish, so they clearly focused on it.
>>
>>59239281
>and the Pokemon League was shit
It's a shame since characterization wise I honestly think they were onto something.

>>59239303
> but it's also pretty obvious that they put the least effort into it,
I like the story more, just because Arven is a very endearing character, but the Path of Titans is easily the weakest. At least raiding bases and the subsequent boss fight has some energy. Titan fights feel clearly unfinished. Like they wanted the idea of fighting bigger boss versions of Pokemon and then just didn't think of a way to actually implement it.

>The finale was the most important part by far, and it has a surprising amount of polish, so they clearly focused on it.
>Start feels pretty polished
>End feels pretty polished
I hate how this is the objectively correct thing to do and will hide a lot of the more obvious flaws.
>>
>>59239317
Really? I thought the Team Star raids were way more underbaked than the Titan battles. I mean they give you 10 fucking minutes, really? I never needed more than 2. Plus all you do is run around and spam R or whatever. It's neither fun or challenging. It seems like a super last minute addition.
Titan battles are also really easy to be fair. They honestly could've given them like 300% health for starters. Or some more boosting abilities like Totem battles had in Gen 7. But I had a lot of fun with them because I figured out tricks to cheese the battles early on on my second playthrough. That's not really possible with the Team Star bases. Plus, their rewards were way better, which also makes them feel more rewarding to do I guess.
>>
>>59239360
> I mean they give you 10 fucking minutes, really?
It's not so much about the lack of challenge, if that was the case the Gyms would be just as bad, it's about actually feeling like a idea that was at least somewhat worked out. Not going to argue it was perfect, but they obviously wanted to capture the feel of charging into a enemy base and taking on a army. And while the actual execution is a very glorified stat check, It at least feels like a actual idea that was worked out.

Titan fights are just nothing. I vaguely remember them having... somewhat different abilities from normal? I think? Even if they improved the health it wouldn't really change anything since there isn't like the enemy has a strategy or unique. It's just one really big Pokemon that hits slightly harder than it probably would have normally. The weird car pokemon each Team Star boss had felt more thought out as actual encounters.
>>
>>59239250
>The way it actually plays is completely fine.
>>
Even with the bugs fixed and the performance enhancements of the Switch 2 it goes from unplayable to a shitty game.

The game feels like its been created under one big deadline crunch. None of the mechanics, areas in the game, characters or music even feels like any thought has been put into it.

Even as shitty as previous games have been I could at least say theres a redeeming factor in them. Like XY had an excellent OST. SM had a lot of good designs. SwSh was where Pokemons graphics peaked. SV is where it all went to die. Even the story that shills like to talk about is pretty shit. If anything the idea of three intertwining stories was better than the actual execution.

I hope Winds and Waves cleans up the stain SV left on Pokemons reputation. If anything they have the foundation for a proper open world game after SV. Now they have no more excuses.
>>
>>59239250
>However, that is just a small part of a whole game that determines its quality
You wouldn't be saying this if this game didn't have Pokemon on the title.

Tetralizing is the best combat mechanic since the physical special split.

>Characters
Character writing is about as solid as it's always been for Pokemon.

>Areas
Nah. There is some obvious intent hidden beneath how fucking amateurish everything feels.

Ost is solid enough despite not being a stand out in the series.

How is it any different from Gigamax, Mega Evos and Z Moves?
They're all THE EXACT SAME THING, they all work as an instant win button with a different skin.

>Nah. There is some obvious intent hidden beneath how fucking amateurish everything feels.
Ok you're trolling now, there's no way a sane human being would actually think this about this game.

>Ost is solid
Music in pokemon has been a random mess of noises without rhythm or harmony since gen 6 and late gen 5. Hell, even I have no fucking idea how's the Team Plasma battle in BW2 is supposed to sound. I've heard washing machines with more harmony.
>>
>>59240103
>How is it any different from Gigamax, Mega Evos and Z Moves?
They actually require some thought to actually get something out of. Just powering up your stab move really doesn't do a lot.

>Ok you must be trolling
My go to standard for bad sandboxes is Jak and Daxter 2. Compared to that, there is actually clear intent in some of the area design. I would also call it more fun to get around than, say, every single GTA game.

>NOOOO STOP PROVING ME WRONG IT'S LE BAD REEEE
Stfu retard
>>
>>59239207
Agreed on both points honestly. I should've brought that up but didn't want to make my post too big. One part of how it could go from "good" to great would be to do more fun things with the actual school and the setting. Not just that but it's part of it. The game is insanely easy and to be honest "kids need easy games" is a bad excuse. Kids will worst case make it through brute force unless they're spoiled and have severe ADHD at the same time and I'd say most kids eventually start activating their neurons a bit to win anyway "oh, this pokemon hits super hard. if i click this it dies faster= i don't die" The ones that end up quitting the most because something like a pokemon game is "too hard" is legitimately retarded adults. A retarded kid will still make it eventually by having 1-2 level 100s, a smart adult will easily make it and so will the average autist. A retarded adult will understand they can just walk away when they're not handheld to the finish line but won't realize they can fix that "difficulty curve/spike" themself. My personal guess? You can skip random trainer battles more= more underlevelled so less brute force for retards at the start.. and then they tuned it so those retards can still make it which means all of those optional battles are 200% redundant. They fixed the battles in the DLC to some degree but by then people will have level 100s to just smash through anything. Sorry for the wall of text.
>>59239281
Same opinion as me more or less. The pokemon league -trainers- were nice I'll say that, but SV is a bit too easy outside of tera raids. I'm honestly pretty sure both Nemona and Geeta were nerfed especially Geeta.

>I think the open world format improved the usual formula
The open world format is actually a NEGATIVE. The "do anything you want in any order" that the marketing and the headmaster in game tells you, is a complete lie as you will be punished for wanting to explore areas however you choose. A game and world like Pokémon needs level scaling, plain and simple. Or just don't give the option to complete "paths" in any order.
