I had to go back and watch, but I forgot that Spinel actually had the exact same mindset as Gibeon. I guess he really did see himself as Gibeon’s successor, just in the way that Gibeon didn’t place value in intangible things like bonds. We could have probably gotten an episode showing Spinel meeting Gibeon, but her motives make a bit more sense if he was really just someone who had a twisted idolization of Gibeon.
