Which game had the best Battle Tower with also the best MEANS to let you make a competitive team to tackle it?Part of me wants to say HGSS but Gen 4 was still a time where making a competitive team was a fucking tedious drag.SwSh had the potential of having the best most replayable endgame because it makes making a competitive team so much easier and actually fun thanks to bottle caps and mints... but it has possibly the worst BT of the franchise.
Tyranitar, Excadrill, and Reuniculus carried me through the PWT and Subway in Black 2.
Does it strictly need to be the Tower? The Battle Tree is probably the best for that. I did a 50 streak daily for the Gold Bottle cap.
>>59242514Emerald isn't bad if you allow yourself to use cloning to dupe items and pokemon. Gen 6 horde battles make EV gain a fucking cakewalk
>>59242826I was gonna say the battle tree, second to the Emerald battle frontier. It's surprisingly forgiving for the first go round if you know your way around gen 3. After you get silver the game rapes you with rng.
>>59242514the battle factory
>>59242826For the longest time I haven't given the Battle Tree the time of the day, is it actually good?I know the game allows you to train with the PokePelago so if the Tree is good, I'd say SM has the best balance between an endgame facility and the means to tackle it.Also, SM or USUM? Is the endgame the same for both? (Not counting the Rainbow Rocket battles which I think once you're done with them, that's it)>>59242842For the purposes of this discussion, ideally you shouldn't have to resort to glitches or AR cheats to achieve something. The idea is to have the means to prepare a team and actually have fun doing it, not thinking "oh now I gotta farm BP at a slow pace, what a drag..."
>>59242858>For the purposes of this discussion, ideally you shouldn't have to resort to glitches or AR cheats to achieve something.I understand that but the dupe glitch in Emerald is so fucking easy to use and the frontier itself is so fun that I'd rather use the glitch and get a team for the facilities than miss out on just how great those facilities are
>>59242858>For the longest time I haven't given the Battle Tree the time of the day, is it actually good?Cameo battles with recruitment is fun (you can run into Colress and recruit him as a Multi-partner for example) and it's much more accessible due to being in the gen that added hyper training.>Also, SM or USUM? Is the endgame the same for both? (Not counting the Rainbow Rocket battles which I think once you're done with them, that's it)Only difference is that USM lets you use Uber's in the basic mode as a way to get some BP going.
>>59242873Well USM also added move tutors as well.
>>59242856The Battle Factory is one of those things should be a series staple instead of an occasional gimmick.
>>59242885It's also a great place to grind BP early on and then spend on your real team for the other towers
It has to be either Gen 4 Battle Tower or Battle Tree, with the Battle Subway being maybe a third option. Gen 2 BT is fucking weird and only the Japanese version really resembles what we'd get with the Gen 4/5 WiFi mode, Gen 3 isn't bad but isn't great either, Gen 5 has a minor True Ant problem that but is otherwise slightly powercrept Gen 4, the Battle Maison is a joke, SS's is fucking awful, and BDSP's requires you to play BDSP but maybe there's a hypothetical modded version that would be fun. The problem with Gen 4's is that despite the solid quality of the facility there's not a super great way to make Pokemon, while the Battle Tree's problem is that in spite of it being easy to make Pokemon there's so much power creep that there's less to potentially challenge you. If the only problems are "use PKHex" and "I don't like winning", I think that's reasonable.
>>59242858>Also, SM or USUM? Is the endgame the same for both? (Not counting the Rainbow Rocket battles which I think once you're done with them, that's it)USUM lets you play a cool minigame to build up BP, or a shitty version of Battle Factory that's worse without online (which is still way better than every other post-DS title, and they picked the best battle facility to make a shitty version of).
>>59242958Well, I don't really like playing pirated Pokemon games because I usually feel my progress and pokemon in them are "less official" or more fake than a legit game but in this day and age, paying money for USUM is the same as wasting it so might as well just get the CIA and give the game a try.At least I enjoy Alola way more than Paldea or Galar and I certainly don't have the patience to deal with HGSS's level curve.
>>59242968Honestly I'd take being overleveled for a while in HGSS (the only thing the fucked level curve actually does until the spike at Red) to ever watching a cutscene in Alola ever again, but if they ever modded USUM to remove every cutscene I'd absolutely replay it, it's easily the highlight of the post-DS era. Solid campaign, great sidequests that make the world feel more real, actual optional stuff to do that's not open world slop (or exists at all in the case of XY), reasonable post-game content, it's the closest I've felt to something decent since XY came out. If you've got a hacked 3DS there's basically zero difference between a pirated game and a real one, and if you really don't want to deal with the miserable cutscenes you could always just download a finished save file and just fuck around with it on PKHex to make it look the way you want.
you can pretty easily rng manipulate shit in gen 3 and 4, hgss has probably the easiest egg rng too. platinums is more annoying because of roaming npcs outside the daycare, i cant remember emeralds that much
>>59243029Yeah HGSS is really easy. You can easily RNG manip the Red Gyarados and Eevee (Jolteon) and have 2/3 of your Frontier/Tower Team ready to go.
unironically BDSP but we arent ready for that discussion yet
>>59242514Straight battle tower? Probably SwSh because they give you in game rental teams to work with before you your real team set up. Battle whatever end game? Emerald Battle Frontier.
