Parthenogenesis - that is the formation of new offspring from an unfertilized egg - exists in all kinds of species (it's even been induced in some mammals!), and there are ones that display the behavior you're describing called "telescoping generations" though it is pretty rare. It can get even more complex - imagine if the baby-khan was also pregnant. It's part of the reason why aphids are able to grow in population so rapidly
