What's gen 10's gimmick going to be, /vp/? Gen 9 was Terastallization and Paradox Pokémon. Personally I think we should go back to Megas in 10; it's by far the most popular. And we need to implement Fusion Pokémon. Every shitty fan game has done it already.

>>59243851Megas looks great and are fun in game, but they're TERRIBLE in competitive. The best gimmicks are universal and dynamic; Dynamax and Tera. You can always find a Pokemon to use it in any battle and you can pick the right time to do it. With Megas you're limited to just the Pokemon that can Mega, and you need to pre-commit before the battle by equipping a hold item. In a bad matchup you either drop your Mega, or bring it into a bad matchup; neither of which feels good.

While in hyper mode their attacks are upgraded into max moves(albeit not as strong). The mode lasts 3 turns. If a pokemon has a mega or gigantimax form, it will assume that form instead of the generic stat boost for the duration of hyper mode. If the form is gigantimax the HP increase will be equivlant to a base dynamax level, it will not have the red glow and clouds and be about a 3rd of the size of dynamax so the camera isn't total ass while it's on the field. If a pokemon has multiple mega/gigantimax forms, the form it assumes will depend on it's nature. No held item is required to enter hyper mode. Now everyone is happy.
