No. They made comp worse and I didn't even use them in-game because I felt they were boring and somewhat embarrassing. I distinctly remember hau smacking me with z-sparkling aria while we were on the same team in the aether base too, kek.

status z-moves were cool, a one-time strategic boost with little gimmicks you could play around at the cost of held items made for a lot of fun in theoryunfortunately status z-moves may as well not have existed because offensive z-moves are so fucking broken go my nuke button completely delete the threat on my enemy's team I'm so good
I literally never used these nor saw them because if you play with animations off, they don't play them at all which you couldn't say the same about Megas, Dynamax or Tera. And since I never wanted to bother learning all the new moves they made Z-Crystals for, I just never used them during my playthrough. It was honestly much more fun that way. To this day I don't think I've really seen many Z-Move animations other than the bad ones like Incineroar's Lariat, Twinkle Tackle, Eevee's Gay Parade and Pulverizing Pancake
