I feel this way about Ghost, Dark, Fairy, Fighting and Psychic as a whole. Ever since Gen 6 they really locked on to forcing these types onto anything they could and repeating the same combinations over and over, it's especially bad with the starters when you realise that the last dual type starters including legends games to not be one of those five was back in Gen 4 (unless you wanna count Mega Feraligatr, I guess). Even worse is when you realise Psychic and Fairy only appear once for starters (unless, again, Mega Meganium), I'm so fucking tired of Dark/Fighting/Ghost starters man

>>59251982> Dark/Fighting/GhostThe thing mono types are almost universally seen as bland (this was one of the reasons the Johto starters got no respect), and having dual types is almost always better since it guarantees and extra STAB and is likely to come with wider movepools. So new starters NEED a second type. Dark/Fighting/Ghost are very strong types and the former two are easy to add onto a pokemon, (ghost is harder to justify since there are more “rules” to what can constitutes a ghost). Dark is especially easy to slap onto Pokémon and had the “cool” factor too, every single dark type starter is the shillmon and developer favorite. Note Fairy would be just as common if there were more intended “girly” shillmons.
