For starter, XY were built from scratch and were the first GF game for 3DS and honestly their first "3D" game altogether. Everything ORAS got right was either from the original RS or from XY itself. And they butchered a lot from Hoenn in these remakes.Yeah, I still consider XY better.Can't tell for gen 7 instead. SM is the least fun game to play according to my book, so it's certainly worse, but that's not saiying much. Can't really tell for USUM. I know they got some neat ideas though.

ORAS is the weakest one to me. It's a remake of a much older game, so it doesn't have the novelty of XY or SM being new generations. I would rather play them (or original Emerald I feel nostalgia for Gen 3). Hoenn's Pokedex is an older style. It's not as rich as Kalos, Alola or other modern games which have a lot of variety. In the old days, people complained about seeing Wingull or Tentacool or Zigzagoon too much in Hoenn. Routes are never as repetitive in later games since you can see different species each time you go to the grass. The HM system is still annoying. HMs are mostly optional in Kalos, and Alola finally just abolished the system with rides. Surf, Waterfall, Dive, Rock Smash and Strength are minimum required in Hoenn. I just dread navigating it compared to the others. Even the running shoes STILL ask you to hold down B, instead of having auto run or roller blades. No player customization, despite Hoenn having "Contest Idol" mini games. It was a great addition to the other 3D games. They added clothing stores to the towns and gave you something to spend money on. The Berry System is weird. I know people on here love to fight about Berry Farming for some reason? But I bring it up because Berry Farming started in RSE. The farm in XY was a well developed feature, so I don't get why ORAS didn't port it over. Best thing about ORAS is Mega Ray and Primals.
