>>59262269omg is that a doctor who reference??
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... timey wimey... stuff.
>>59262299this was the same gen with the fucking time god pokemon so this works in a few ways
>>59262305it was around the same time a Brit started working in Pokémon projects too.The consensus is that Looker is modeled after Zenigata from Lupin, which makes a lot of sense for a bunch of Japanese boomer devs. But Looker has little in common with Zenigata outside le generic detective outfit, and as generations passed Looker was more and more involved in esoteric sci-fi cases that fit the Doctor's bill a lot more.James Turner worked first on XD and then at some point he jumped to GameFreak intern. He doesn't appear in credits for any Gen 4 game but there's a high chance he was already hanging with GF folks and it's not a stretch that they were exposed to British culture through him. It's not like nips live in a secluded parallel world anyway; a lo-fi audio file with The Prodigy's Firestarter was found in BW dev data and The Prodigy isn't even THAT mainstream among British bands.Of course weebs are super defensive about westerners violating the sanctity of Japanese productions, and quickly seethe in denial on the notion of Looker being inspired by anyone other than Zenigata. It's not something that keeps me at night, maybe this is all a nothingburger and Looker is 100% based on Zenigata, who knows. But until further confirmation this is what I believe.
