I could understand it if there was an optional side quest or something where over time, you could do things to get closer to Urbain or Taunie, and maybe visit some parts of the city where the dialogue/cutscenes have hints of romantic undertones, but I mean, Z-A basically goes the same route as past Pokemon games, where fans and shippers and whatnot latch onto any piece of dialogue that fits their headcanon and run with it. If Z-A wasn't going to fully commit, then GF should've just created a scenario in game where you as the player get to determine through an event who you want to meet: Urbain or Taunie, regardless of the gender you pick.

The oldest so far, I believe, as Calem and Serena are supposedly around 17. We're not dealing with 10 or 12 year olds for a change. Protags that are more late teens/very early twenties opens the door to other possibilities in the franchise while still very much being kid-friendly, especially if the light romance/dating aspects are purely optional aspects of the game that can be explored and enjoyed if desired by that particular player.
