The sales figures don't lie:Pokemania ended because of Gen II.The real question is, what all about it was so off-putting such that it lost millions of former fans?

This man just makes genuinely unappealing games
>>59268930let's keep this thread realistic and facts-based please
>>59268897Game freak was bitter about Pokémon becoming popular because it meant that that they had to make Pokémon instead of a the loli rape game with Quinty. So they sabotaged Gen 2
>>59268897>Gen 2>when its the 3rd highest>still a good ~7.5m above 4th
>>59268959that means it sold off Gen I goodwill
>>59268941Sales indicate otherwise, don't they? Literally the best selling Pokemon games in the franchise didn't have this man anywhere near being in-charge. The less he's involved, the better Pokemon objectively does
>>59268973No pedo, it means Gen 2.is better then wherever shit game you suck off
>>59268982How does the amount of shekels lining the pockets of blood-drinking, foreskin eating, pedophiles correlate to quality
>>59268982>Literally the best selling Pokemon games in the franchise didn't have this man anywhere near being in-charge. He directed GSC and nothing sold more than RBY. GSC is RBY's direct sequel and sold less. What part of this don't you understand?
>>59268988this isn't the American government
>muh salesWhen do you people stop being retarded?
>>59268897Why is Platinum excluded from the graph? Something tells me it wasn’t because whoever made it just forgot

Pokémania was always going to be a flash in the pan, and there was nothing Gamefreak could do to sustain the popularity of the first generation. Gen I was popular with bandwaggoning normies who were never going to stick around after the novelty wore off.
>>59268897Nothing. All mania's die. If they don't then they aren't, by definition, a mania. The fact that non-mania Pokemon still puts up 16M sales numbers decades later proves just how popular Pokemon is.
>>59268897The Kanto postgame was a terrible decision and at the root of nearly everything that killed Pokemania. It's why the game was delayed for so long, why the new Pokemon we waited years for were buried under more of the same old dex, why Johto as a region is such an afterthought and the game felt more like an expansion pack than a sequel. It was simply the wrong move at the time. GF needed to prove that they still had new ideas and weren't just a one-trick pony/passing fad, and instead they signaled that they were content to coast off the same old shit.If gen 2 had been a soft-reboot like every other gen since then, I'm sure it still would have sold less than gen 1 and Pokemania would have fizzled out eventually, but it would have been a much more graceful and less noticeable decline.
>>59268897>The surge of sales because of [new thing] dropped because thing wasn't new anymoreIf you look at any long-running franchise, you'll see similar figures.
>>59268897>Can't read a graphThe actual data this shows is that third versions and sequels sell poorly.>Dip with Yellow>Spike with GS>Dip with Crystal>Spike with RS>Dip with Emerald>Spike with DP>Platinum not even mentioned>Slight dip with HGSS, but nowhere near as much as a sequel/third version>Slight bump with BW1>Dip with BW2>Spike with XY>Slight dip with ORAS>Slight bump with SM>Dip with USUM>Spike with LGPE>MASSIVE spike with SwSH>Dip back to average with BDSP>Dip with PLAI'd wager there was a spike with SV, and a dip with PLZA, and there will be a spike with Wind/Waves. And that's just the Global data; the Japanese data shows a similar trend , but with shallower dips, meaning that generally speaking, Japanese consumers will buy third versions/sequels more frequently. If anything killed pokemania, it was Yellow version, by your dumb as shit logic at least.
Because gen2?Gen 2 sold really well. It would have sold even more IF:1. Not released so soon, while everyone still playing gen 12. Pokemania was already ending, this means less marketing3. It was already a children thing, 2-3 years later and the bigger children was already droping it4. it was an RPG, a lot bought it not knowing that and disled the formula, not rebuying a sequel5. too many babies and girly stuff. It was alreadu children stuff, now with babies everywhere and fluffy things
>>59268988It's a sales thread. If you're arguing sales, then non-Masuda games objectively do better than Masuda games>>59269044The part where SwSh and SV outsold GSC
