why did they even do it anyway? What is the point of togetic? Togepi is marketable and cute. But Togetic is reasonably ugly (at least its old sprites) and it's got an objectively weird design (it looks like a bowling pin man with wings and horns) and it's particularly weak (until gen 4 where it can evolve again, thankfully) and, more than anything else, it doesn't DO anything. You are given this egg, told it's rare and special, hatch it, say "wow this sucks in battle once it evolves it'll be stronger" then it evolves and you say "wow this sucks still I'm putting it in the pc", box it, then try it again in hgss where iirc you can't even evolve it til kanto and it's definitely not worth it by then. And at no point do they ever elaborate on why it's rare and special. No ruins of alph moment, no special interaction in the story, no hidden dungeon you need it to unlock, it's just a random weak mon that everyone who actually uses the full 6 slots in his team in-game boxes and forgets about.Why? What was the goal? They didn't even give it a new z move or mega or gmax form or ANYTHING and even gave mega clef its typing. Why? This is so retarded

The concept of a Pokemon being "rare" wasn't completely thrown in the trash yet, so a Pokemon being the only copy you could get still had some value, even when it wasn't a legendary. Wow!

Togetic defender here, I've used the Shadow Togepi from XD in doubles for Emerald's Battle Frontier & Colosseum's Battle Mode and it's a surprisingly strong support mon. The AI really struggles with Follow Me and Togetic also gets Helping Hand, Soft-boiled, Wish, Safeguard, Sweet Kiss, Yawn, Encore and dual-screens. It's surprisingly bulky when fully invested into HP and its defenses on top of having a ground immunity to let its partner shit all over the AI with Earthquake spam. Togetic is basically Ledian, but actually useful.
