This way, you get a steady flow of new fans. People will drop out of the franchise, but it doesn't matter because they will be replaced by new children who just got into Pokémon. It's the best strategy if you want your fanbase to grow.Nintendo does the same thing btw. That's why their franchises are still successful and growing, while most of the 90s scrimblos (like Crash Bandicoot) died in the late 2000s. They tried too hard to appeal to older demographics and then faded into obscurity.
