Sometimes they get the right idea and cut needless fluff like with Turtonator's prevos, but a big, big problem with a lot of Galar and Paldea shitmons (and even in some older games) is that they pad their dexes out with unnecessary filler stages just to justify the evolutionThe better evolutionary lines feature a very natural flow from stage to stage and don't usually randomly become something else, but also are VERY unique in their designs so you don't get bad shit like awkward teen syndrome with the mid stage. They only recently have started to avoid designing starters like this since for usually a majority of the time you're seeing the mid stage more than the mascot prevo they start you with. But you just know mons like Boldore and Milcery weren't going to outrank their relatives
