I don't like it.
Sure the main game had a little of that time pressure, with you trying to get as many trainers in one night when grinding the Royale. But in MD that's all there is, and it's just exhausting. It works "fine" while you're doing the story since you can take a break to do sidequests now and then, but when you're doing pokedex cleanup it's beyond exhausting.
Also once you beat Ray there should have been some way to tip the RNG in your favor. Doesn't mean shit if I have the best doughnuts if the dimensions I need refuse to show up.

Before Mega Dimension DLC , Legends Z-A is a solid 6, may be 7 out of 10. While doing Royale is a tad mundane, the overarching theme and the story epecially the final scene with Zygarde and AZ saved the whole thing.

With MD DLC, the game becomes 3 out of 10 at best and that's how destructive the DLC is. The amplified repetitive and RNG gameplay were so jarring that the experience was ruined.

Admittedly I'm not a Z-A lover, but the DLC is far, far worse than the basegame. The gameplay is worse, the plot is worse, it's genuinely just not a fun experience outside of discovering new mega evolutions, and the time for that has kind of passed.

Pros:
>all the new mons are modeled and animated really well. Even the bullshit ones like the yamask evos.
>the new moves like meteor beam are fun to use.
>unlike the main game nearly all the new side quests are great even if they dont give you anything. Theres a side quest where you take a fidough on a walk and all it is showing off how cute they made it run for 7 minutes. Its great. Theres another where you become a grocery store clerk for 10 minutes and you can fuck up every order and ruin people's day or do it right and get decent cash.
Cons:
>main dlc story is extremely grindy even compared to the end of the base game
>the later portals mostly suck and are annoying to navigate on a timer
>berry grinding is jewish and making donuts suck, even if you are manipulating your backup saves.
>all the cool mons are locked into the postgame and require you to get a lot of good boy points from the pre-endboss portals to unlock one post-endboss. Its unfathomably rng dependent too. You almost always get a portal with mons you got 20 hours ago or a humiliation ritual battle only portal with no catching. Every 4-5 of these you'll get a portal with an exclusive legendary and those are ok but you can easily go through a hundred portal grinds and not get a gimmighoul or rotom or frigibax portal. I got a couple good rotom and frigibax hits but I never got a gimmighoul portal out of 65 5 star portals.
If it was just the new mons and the side quests for $15 it would have been a lot better. It definitely brings the entire game down because of how bad the grind for everything is. They clearly added the portal shit late into the game's development and I dont know why since gen 10 isn't until next year and only a new of the dlc megas are in champions.

It's really baffling. Like, clearly the reason Z-A was delayed a year was to have something for the Switch 2's launch since Winds and Waves wasn't gonna be ready. But if Winds and Waves wasn't going to be ready for 2026 either, why didn't they just save the DLC for 2026? Were they still planning Winds and Waves for 2026 at the time they announced Mega Dimension? What happened?

What is the next best Pokemon game on the Switch?

I didn't enjoy it at all. I was fond of base game, but the DLC was utterly miserable and soulless. The new characers introduced are bland and the returning characters are worse off for appearing. I grinded for the shiny charm prior to the DLC drop and I quite like brainless grinds but the donut/portal system ensures that you can never really settle into a rhythm of just doing that, even if you have a stockpile of donuts, you have to leave hyperspace after finishing your handful of tasks, go to another one, skip the cutscene, ect, which really takes me out of it.

Locking mons to postgame is crazy to me because I'm sure that many people would've liked to use a lot of the weaker/pre evos during the main story... I don't think they added a single new mon to the current wild areas which just seems silly, even adding 1 new mon per wild zone would only be 20 mons(give or take) and be a fun addition for players.

It is shocking how bad the DLC was. The novelty wears off extremely quickly, the research tasks are a chore, there aren't enough different area layouts to keep it interesting, and the fucking randomness of it all is unforgivable. Doing a bunch of repetitive, boring research tasks just for the 5-star hyperspace to end up being another fucking fossilmon zone instead of that one legendary you're still missing is soul-crushing.

I really want to see the new megas but I've heard the gameplay of this DLC is just horrendous. I already barely tolerated ZA, I really don't want to have to grind for the privilege to play its DLC. I barely know anything about Mega Dimensions, except that it's bad with a capital B
