Quick FAQ
>Do I need my own Pokémon to play?
No, the game features a recruitment system, but transferring from Home is recommended to save time and resources.
>What makes the game so much more accessible than before?
All aspects of a Pokémon are customizable with VP, a currency earned simply by playing the game. IVs are also removed.
Ask in the thread if you want any specific Pokémon, and someone will respond.
>Is there single player content?
No.
>Do I need a Nintendo Online subscription?
No.
>What's the starter pack?
US$6.99 one time purchase for 50 training tickets (fully train for free), 30 Teammate Tickets (recruit Pokemon without using VP), 50 extra box space and the LGPE trainer music.
>Is anything locked behind a paywall?
So far everything gameplay relevant is also purchasable with VP. Mega Kalos starters and E-Floette require ZA transfer.

Just lost my 16 win streak ;_;
Main losing moment was thinking my rotom heat would survive glimmora power gem. I just calced it after, and timid glim was 6% to kill, modest was 56% :(
>>
>>59287040
>>59287051
Seriously. I made it to Master Ball basically accidentally with a joke team that an idiot would use. I had Mega Lopunny, Meowscarada, Kingsgambit, Gallade, Sneasler, and Kleavor. Kleavor was just there to set up a stealth rock he can attack with so maybe Hisuian Samurott would be better, but wouldn't look as cool. Gallade is exclusively there to deal with anyone with an Archaludon. Mega Lopunny was designated dragon killer as long as she didn't miss. Sneasler was there to kill tranny seal and any other fairies. Kingsgambit regularly got swapped out for other stuff, like Mega Delphox or something else stupid I felt like using.

This is not a team that should win matches. But did. If I can do it with this mishmash of low tier retards, you can do it with any of the rental teams of people spamming sleep or burn that put dipshit teams like mine down with no hopes of recovery.
>>
>>59287341
I wouldn't call that a joke comp, anon. It's got high-speed control and a good chunk of priority. Something for ever weather, decent anti-TR options in Gambit and Kleavor, etc. Like the only major issue is that an enemy getting TW seems like it'd fuck you over since you're SOL in terms of bulk, but you have the damage and type advantage to scare away Whimsi's.
>>
>>59287352
Oh should mention this is singles. Doubles is too autistic and even more luck based for me to give even half a shit about. I've never seen a Whimsicott in singles.
>>
>>59287356
Oh, then yeah it's probably way better in singles at that. Speed and high raw damage matter the most in that format.
>>

>>59287364

>>
>>59287364
The only pokemon in existence that do are mr mime (follow me) and parasect (rage powder).
>>
>>59287369
For the most part. Some things outspeed it. Since focus sash is being used for my Kleavor so it can set up and put Charizard down to 50% just from swapping in, I gave a King's Rock to her instead. Doesn't work usually, but funny when it does, plus I can't think of anything better to give her since she'll usually die in one shot from most things anyway.

Thats pretty funny. Wonder whats the point of having dedicated bots farming vp with turbo controllers though. VP is kind of dogshit and whether i have 1k or 1million is kind of moot when there is nothing worth spending it on
>>
>>59287485
Kleavor and stealth rocks are literally just for Charizard 'cause I was seeing it so often, Kingambit's been replaced for awhile now. Point is, the team is just fast dumb muscle, Volcarona shuts most of it down. I've started seeing one on every team and have to think of a rock thrower I don't hate to add just to deal with them. I tend not to add anything I particularly hate the look of onto my team, since again, I'm no tryhard. I'm just using stupid shit I like and hitting Y in training to give it stats and moves I also don't hate.

Except for High Jump Kick on Mega Lop, presumably because I hate myself and want to throw a match or two randomly if I decide to kick the wall and kill myself instead.
>>
>>59287489
id argue they will.
Shit on the game all people want, if the main aim is accessibility, then this game does achieve its goals.
Yes some mons will be locked (see Mega Delphox and floette), but I just cant see a legendary regulation with people just outright unable to play, or just playing zero legendaries which kind of defeats the purpose of the regulation
>>
>>59287497
I do wonder if the 4 unlockables will be available to everyone else when M-B starts but I am well aware those require you to actually grind for in Z-A

>>
>>59287516
its basically impossible to not get master ball so long as you keep playing due to how progression works in pokeball-ultraball, some people just aren't willing to ladder that much.

will the meta ever stop changing every week?

how
>>
i lead h zoroark with focus blast purely to kill arch
its works sometimes
>>
>>59287541
Because sometimes even with a 50% win rate you'll get a win streak and there's a bonus for that while there's no malus for a loss streak.
>>
>>59287541
Because that's not how coin flips work. You will get variance strings eventually, and the game stops you from going on negative variance streaks until master.
>>
>>59287558
>>59287559
I guess you're right and I'm just not playing enough, I get demotivated and stop for the day after 2 losses
>>
>>59287536
maybe, but it will keep changing until the end of the regulation. metas always change, heck even stuff like GSC OU keeps changing years after
>https://youtu.be/3vqsCI5wdkc?si=_7C91xTVM8XK2nxn
the only limit is how many people care to play it. With all eyes on champions, expect it to always change.
That aside, why care about meta? just play whatever meme team you want and you will reach masters
>>
>>59287562
let me guess, you lost and the demotivation comes from because you just dont know exactly why you lost other than
>if only X did/didnt happen
>>
>>59287541
you can't drop once you get to the next rank and only need like 2-3 wins to get to the next rank after that. even shit teams can get by eventually, with a lucky win streak. plus the amount of people in ultraball who just flowchart everything makes trying to counter the obvious play each turn a pretty solid strategy for laddering.

thats only if you got to the rank above last season, I need like 6 wins in a row to get out of ultraball2 and after that I'll have to grind Ultraball1, just not feasible for an anti-metafag unless I make champions the only game I play every day and dont work whatsoever

..and it STILL got BTFO.
>>
>>59288470
hazards are very common in BSS, been running a mega sableye in singles with wisp, recover, and metal burst, its a pretty solid anti-lead against a bunch of other pokemon.
>>
>>59288492
I remember playing Battle Spot Singles back in XY and barely saw any hazards
It's not uncommon to see SR in Champions Singles but since it's only 3v3 I've had several games that were lost because me or my opponent wasted the first crucial turn setting up hazards that never did much in the end when attacking could've actually changed the outcome
>>
>>59288495
a lot of people mindlessly throw out hazards in BSS without thinking but good players will assess whether or not they are useful. whether against teams that want to pivot a lot or against teams you want to break sashes against so your guy in the back can sweep are good reasons to run hazards. Its generally a good thing to have a hazard lead and any team that doesn't usually runs an anti-lead.
>>
>>59288468
>>59288484
>>59288489
Issue with Smogon bans has always been how fast they pull the trigger. Literally ANYTHING shows up as a new threat and it gets banned the next day. They never give the playerbase time to find counters. Even their 6v6 singles version of Champions, a format that has only been out for a month, already has like 6+ bans.

I hate how hedious it's design is and hate how insanely flexible it is.
You assume it's Scarfed? Rocky Helmet.
Assume it has Rocky Helmet? Assault Vest.
Assume it has Assault Vest? Banded.
Same thing is applicable to it's investments too.
I don't think a single Pokemon in the history of the game has ever been THIS flexible.
>>
>>59288501
This only ever happens with anyone that isn't Landorus, or their favorite new shiny toy of the generation.
>>
>>59288558
I wouldn't even say I'm "filtered" by it, but exactly that. Every Pokemon needs protect and fake out and stalling shit is so boring. I don't have the autism for Pokemon games and mostly just like the main games and fucking about with friends or against the AI. The closest I got to ranked shit before Champions was just Battle Towers in the games against the AI. I don't have every Pokemon's speed and defenses memorized, I just assume my cat and rabbit are faster than most things I usually see, as long as they haven't buffed their speed. I don't care enough to figure out if whatever's gonna swap out or protect or flinch both of my guys, or fake out, or any other boring faggotry doubles has to deal with. I just wanna fuck about for like 1-5 matches a day, not make a lifestyle out of it like most of your average autists will do.

>>
How the fuck am I supposed to know what autistic stat point distribution everyone is using, game has no resources to test builds and no way to review opponent matches. Everything feels like a coin flip.
>>
>>59288627
You make educated guesses based on their team composition and the meta to improve your odds.
>>
>>59288631
I just make everything I care about being fast max speed and assume it will outspeed my opponent's stuff because they will be doing some hp creeping nonsense.
>>
>>59288643
I occasionally allocate a small amount of speed on my slower Pokemon if it can get me to outspeed other "slow" Pokemon within the range that have neutral nature and no investment, like 8 speed on Meganium so it has 108, just above neutral 2 speed Archaludon at 107
>>
>>59288566
>I don't have every Pokemon's speed and defenses memorized
Given the amount of “hinting” that the game already provides I’m kind of surprised they haven’t included any kind of visible value ranges for things. Realistically people are live calcing and checking speed tiers and shit anyway, just show it to the user. Let me see a little overview where I can see the min and max possible values for every stat for every enemy mon on the field, and once a turn plays out, chop down that range’s top/bottom based on whether or not their mons outspeed my own whose speed stats I know. Same for damage rolls, show me the min damage roll for max bulk investment and max damage roll for no bulk investment and after the move connects, chop the range down. Otherwise you’re basically just rewarding people playing with a damage calculator open on a second monitor
>>
Get to master ball a second time and they play a new cutscene with the wrestler guy, do you think they can add some single player mode like a battle tower to fight him at the end? i supposed something like that would have been leaked long ago
>>
Why the fuck does the giraffe not learn Taunt? Nothing worthwhile learns Taunt
>>
>>59288779
https://op.gg/pokemon-champions/moves/taunt
Many good mons do actually learn taunt, they just don't bother to make room for it in their four moveslots.
>>
>>59288784
How do you Taunt a Gengar, just always run mega Aero or Prankster?
>>
>>59288792
https://www.serebii.net/attackdex-champions/throatchop.shtml
You could also try Throat Chop but nothing here outspeeds without Scarf
>>
>>59288792
Is getting a slow taunt off even that bad? If they perish song turn 1 and you taunt, then they can't stall or disable and you can just try to kill gar. If they substitute first, then taunt goes through and again you just try to kill gar. If they protect and try to disable that might be annoying, but at that point I think you again just try to kill it turn 2.
>>
>>59288627
You can see what the most prevelant stat spreads are for each pokemon.
Most of them just max whatever stat is useful for them.
>>
>>59288853
I want to be able to filter on what stat distribution is like in Master Ball tier only. I assume the percentages are skewed by people using whatever that’s no ideal
>>
>miss a 95% accurate move turn 1
>opponent hits a 30% accurate move turn 1
>automatic loss with zero skill involved
>>
>>59288233
Wyrdeer has a really bad stat distribution and a somewhat redundant typing when Orangura and Farigiraf both have very good and particular niches while Wyrdeer does not.
>>

There's a difference between adapting and being forced to use a shitmon for this one purpose that makes your team much worse against literally every team that doesn't have Dracovish on it.

Fucking hate this game. There’s no way to stop every type of team, you build for one and then only get matches with the other. Oh good everyone uses giraffe now. Fucking awful. Ultra Ball is horseshit this season.

And then there are no resources beyond online autism calculators or this fucking thread.

>>
>>59289093
Milo is better anyways
>>
Is Sableye or Maushold a better support for Charizard Y?
>>
>>59289216
Probably Sableye. Quash would be useful against fast Rock Slide users and Follow Me is worthless against spread moves.
>>
That Fuckin' Giraffe.
>>
>Slurpuff lost Belly Drum
what a joke
why even bother adding him here then
>>
>>59289221
I think biggest trouble is the rock users that Zard hates won't be KO'd by even an Overheat.
You can ev to guarantee survive a Chomp rock Slide + drill's rock slide, or even have a high chance to survive Adamant 32Atk Sneasler rock tomb, but any stab boosted rock move is going to clobber it.
I would think wide guard support is Zard's better friend if you want to sit in front of rock slide pressure.
>>
>>59289296
*although friend guard on a bulky Zard would survive jolly Aero's rock slide, so that's considerable if you're trading correctly.
>>
>>59289296
Isn't that why people run solar beam and weatherball + heat wave? Still can't KO everything, but can at least get one but you're gonna get outsped by all the rock spammers that rape you
>>
Why did they make it so rain has favourable matchups into every other weather type?

>>59289327
If the sun is up, Solar Beam is similar in damage over Weather Ball, Overheat actually does more damage than Solar Beam.
desu I seldom find myself actually clicking solar beam except as a 100% acc move to close out a game. It's not like it doesn't have utility, into water matchups like Blastoise it's really important.
I'm thinking like vs Aero or Chomp in the scenario you clicked quash.

If a Pokemon is good against a meta threat, it's not a shitmon. But also, what you're describing is the problem with having to bring your entire team to every game. In 3v3 and 4v4 you can put something like Seismatoad on your team and only bring it to the matches that it needs to be. If Pokemon has to come to every game, then it needs general purpose utility to be "good."
>>
>>59289715
>If a Pokemon is good against a meta threat, it's not a shitmon.
No. If a Pokemon is ONLY good against a single, specific threat and is bad in every other situation, it's a shitmon. Electivire is really good against, I dunno, fucking Empoleon or whatever in Gen 4, as an example. The fact he's good in this single match-up, but garbage in the other 99% of cases does not mean he's not a shitmon. Niches do not equal a mon being good in general, it's just that, a niche. The second Dracovish was banned, Seismitoad cratered to RU because he's just a bad Pokemon by the standards of power in the tier.
>>
Would someone kindly give a retard a mega Beedrill team that at least sort of works?
>150 attack
>adaptability
>still doesn't do any damage
I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I've tried like twenty different teams. Can't escape Ultra ball this season, but I really don't care about laddering I just want to get Beedrill professor without hanging myself. It just feels like there isn't any way to make it work.

>>59289775
Suffering it is, then. I saw a team full of metaslop that ran Mega Bee but it felt like ass to play and Tardzard was still complete anus to run into even with Rain Dance Sableye.
>>
>>59289745
Scovillain with Rage Powder is probably a decent partner. Any mon that can redirect and tank can help. But I can't make miracles.
>>
>>59289760
That's not that uncommon.
Poison is better complementary coverage to Ground than Steel is, and Garchomp as a whole is a pokemon that very often has leftover move slots to put more niche and situational moves on it.
Skill issue on your part. If you see a Garchomp, you cannot realistically predict its entire moveset, so need to account for possibilities like this. Sometimes you have no choice and need to take the gamble, but this is literally why people run Garchomp. It's versatile, in metas where versatility is a privilege, not a right.
>>
>>59289816
it's incredibly uncommon actually. don't lie in the future please. thanks.

Knowing when a gamble is the best choice you can make is skill, yes.
Knowing when the objectively correct thing to do is risk the miss chance of Stone Edge is a skill.
Knowing which pokemon should run Fire Blast vs Flamethrower is a skill.

I had mild success with a meme team where Beedrill was the threat but not the star
>beedrill lead always, u-turn into incineroar every single time unless there's a fake out, then you'd protect
>partner is either h-zoroark disguised as snorlax, or medicham to delete potential threats to the bug/snorlax
>in the back is slow incineroar to intimidate, snarl and parting shot back to beedrill at the end of the turn
>the clincher is fat fuck snorlax with double edge and crunch, bring him out when the fighting types like sneasler are dead
>fill the bench with metamons and hope your opponent overthinks to death
again this isn't a foolproof strategy but it got wins in ultra tier

Green and I always get to Master rank in every season.
>>
I, for one, am glad the game doesn't have an indepth match history. I just know people would be stealing my meticulously thought out bonus stat arrangements if they could. I have stats that outspeed certain meta pokemon by 1point and certain attack defense spreads that ensure certain 1-2 hit KO thresholds or turning 2 hit ko's against me into 3 hit ko's. You don't deserve my work for free. Just continue using the recommended Battle Data spread like a good little sheep.
>>
Man once you get a grasp on the meta, you can really shit on metaslaves with whatever. Been fucking around with all the Megas I’ve never seen anyone use, and I went on an absolute rampage last night with Mega Chandelure. I didn’t even have him optimized yet. Practically flew straight out of Ultra Ball just fucking around having fun with him, I didn’t even realize I was on an 8-win streak until it ended. This dude just deletes shit left and right, now I really want a shiny one

I unironically run incineroar with parting shot into esparta, set up calm mind and speed ect and then baton pass into power trip/special incineroar
