>saves the 3ds era in you’re pathHow did you respond?
I liked it but the game not having a NatDex made me quit the franchise going forward
>>59287707>savesmore like holds up the gun
>>59287707The 3DS era was already unsalvageable, but even if it could have been saved, that slop certainly didn't do it.
>>59287740>holds up the gun the 3ds era in you’re path
>>59287707I watch playthroughs of this if I can't sleepPeak comfy
>>59287749>game has so much unnecessary dialogue that fans of the game literally fall asleep to playthroughs of ityou can't make this shit up
>>59287707Sun and Moon were such a letdown and it makes me sad because I *really* want to enjoy them but I simply cannot. The constant starting and stopping and the overbearing handholding just kill the experience for me. Can a fan of the game give me any tips on how to best enjoy this shit?
>>59287900It's a visual novel with occasionally some battles.
>>59287707Soul filled region imo. Music and island aesthetic was nice. Loved all the tropical mon designs. This was the point where I was getting bored of the gym paths so it was a nice change of pace from the previous games, and I'm glad they cut the chibi overworld models. This game while flawed with an abundance of cutscenes and dialogue, felt like it had a level of polish that XY just didn't have, down to the UI and legendary lore. Pic related is my favorite desu
>>59287707Was really disappointed in these games, they showed everything in the trailers and they were so utterly linear and uninteresting to explore, zero postgame content, at least the plot was good which is rare for Pokemon but man. Sucks.Ultra Sun made me quit buying pokemon games because it literally did nothing I was hoping it could improve on. The only Switch Pokemon game I own is Pokken and I honestly don't even remember ever playing it.
>>59287707Best pokemon games on the 3DS, it's not even a contest.
>>59287870That's exactly why I watch it lol
>>59287911Was lucky to go in somewhat blind having bounced from all the marketing the moment I noticed they were showing off a trailer almost every other week it felt like. Which was nice because these games introduced way more Pokémon than XY which was my biggest gripe with those games. I went back and saw how many trailers and info they put out and it blows my fucking mind their marketing strategy for this gen
>>59287927Alola doesn't really have more new Pokemon you can actually use in the campaign when you factor in that Kalos had 6 legendaries and Alola had like, 20.
>>59287904That's certainly what it feels like, but I'm hoping to squeeze some enjoyment out of it and I'm looking for people who actually enjoy this shit to guide me. Does leveling up Festival Plaza, investing in Poke Pelago, using Refresh, getting Island Scans regularly, and using the Tomy Z-Ring help at all? I haven't done a max abuse playthrough because I didn't wanna trivialize the game but it's unbearably dull otherwise. I just wanna figure out what I have to do/get to enjoy this game to the fullest because otherwise I'm sitting on 9/10 yrs of disappointment that they leaned even harder into the casual audience.
>>59287950I'm replaying ORAS and enjoying it a fuck ton more than my initial playthrough, even as someone that really doesn't like Hoenn all that much. But there's little things here and there that boosts the enjoyment for me. You tend to appreciate those small QOL things, and features that they cared to add. It also helps to ignore all the fags with opinions on this board, so just do that
>>59287950>Tomy Z-RingCool animations and fun gimmick that's honestly used way more than Megas and crystalsEnd of the day its just power fantasy shit so might as well lean into that
>>59287707thank you for alolan exeggutor and alolan meowth. my alolan meowth is now a persian in is currently in kalos exploring lumios city.
alola... home
>>59287974See, I fucking HATE ORAS with every fiber of my being and love the original Hoenn. I implore you to name these "quality of life improvements" because more often than not it's not "quality of life" stuff and instead it's just highly abusable things that completely trivialize the game that you have to completely avoid if you want a balanced experience. I've played ORAS maybe 3 times in the past year and I've done the same with RSE and it's only cemented my burning hatred for ORAS. I literally have a 10 page document breaking down how much I hate this game in autistic detail. I honestly would love to put it online here someday but it isn't finished yet and I need to play more ORAS to be able to pick it apart more.
>>59288040This guy is telling the truth, I hate both games because ORAS doesn't change shit I hate from RS except making the game easier and boring
>>59288040I can't get as worked up about it as this guy but I feel like by Gen 3's addition of the visual PC boxes thats all the qol I really need in Pokemon. ORAS just does shit like add a bunch of loading zones.
>>59287980The only reason I suggest it is because usually when there are accessories tied in with the game like FRLG's wireless adapters or HGSS's pokewalker, the experience is just more memorable, and seeing as the game was literally designed with this tie-in toy in mind it makes me think that using it would improve the experience with another level of immersion and make me enjoy the game more. The only issue is getting my hands on the damn thing, the asking prices are kinda outrageous, especially if you want a full set of Z Crystals.
>>59287913i really liked playing that gen on my first playthrough but i cant do replays of it because of the 400 million lines of dialogue. such a shame as it had good gameplay and pacing but without the option to skip its impossible to justify a playthrough
>>59288071The loading zones are one of the criticisms in my doc! If you'll allow me to sperg a bit, here are my thoughts, pasted straight from my document. "ORAS is plagued with fade-to-black transitions everywhere which bog down the experience a lot. This is coming from RSE, which made a big point to do away with the series’ established gate transitions between cities and routes in favor of a large interconnected world. The only sections with fade to black transitions in RSE are ones that require a submap to be loaded, like the interior of a building or cave. In ORAS, these fade-to-black transitions are everywhere, and they never fail to feel weird and jarring. It’s especially egregious from the middle of the game onwards as Mauville City is made significantly slower to navigate, Slateport City is divided in half for seemingly no reason, and the water routes in the back half of the game are loaded with them."Like I said, I'm not done with this doc, but I fucking hate the loading zones too dude.
>>59288040I like the dexnav telling me I've captured every species in an area and the other details it provides. Also the additional Hoenn megas are cool. Soaring fulfills my flying Pokémon fantasy autism but that's more of a personal preference and less a qol. No battle frontier and piss easy difficulty are huge anchors that weigh these games down, I'll admit
>>59287707I'd rather replay SwSh than that shit
>>59287707I'm still not sure how great the experience of the game itself is. The interruptions are all over the place and 3/4 islands are just circles. New pokemon are a little hit or miss. But whenever I fantasize about pokemon, my mind always tends to drift towards Alola (or occasionally Unova). There's so much in the atmosphere that is intriguing and comforting. I'd want to live more than any other region even if I was dirt poor. Music is great. Characters are great. Challenge (at least in USUM) is great. Anime was marginally more interesting than the other seasons. If Rotom ever shut the fuck up, then it'd undoubtedly be my favorite set of games, but alas, it's only doubtedly my favorite.
>>59288083SV is full to the brim with these fades a d loads and everyone loves it and calls it the perfect Pokemon game here so I don't know who to believe anymore. I'm playing SwSh, another game people here call irredeemable and I'm having a lot of fun with it because Galar is comfy and at least it looks and plays like a finished game.
>>59287904And that’s a good thing.
>>59287707more like killed it by being the worst games in the series
