Let's have a thread for the most slandered but yet comfiest Gen.Despite its flaws, i personally think the aesthetics of the saga peaked with BW and BW2. It was the last generation with the old school sprite art, and the one that pushed it to the absolute best by pushing the DS graphics at their maximumGameplay wise it was also the last gen without the meme gimmicks that plagued the games from gen 6 onwards. Anything that its misses really is the Fair type to counter the overusage of dragons in competitive multiplayer
Someone should make a hack of Black and White that removes all the Gen 6 and 7 tier handholding. It's the main thing that stops me from wanting to play them again cause it just never ends.
>uses the last paragraph to talk about other gensanyways, Ideals > Truths
>>59288350>all the Gen 6 and 7 tier handholdingsuch as?
>>59288377My favorite example is after you beat the Opelucid gym where as soon as you leave the Professor shows up out of nowhere and holds your hand and walks you directly to the exit of the town and tells you that it's the exit of the town because they still don't trust you to figure that out on your own after playing through most of the game. The dialogue makes it even better because it's literally>I came to tell you how to revive Reshiram/Zekrom>It was so important that I came here to tell you in person>I don't know how to revive Reshiram/Zekrom
>>59288385this might be the worst one in the game. yeah this is where she gives you the master ball but its obvious they had no fucking idea how to integrate it naturally at all
The closest gen to come close to Gen 5 after the fact was probably Gen 7 and it sucks that it's hindered so fucking much by its hand-holding nature
BW2? Great gameBW? The worst game in the franchise
>>59288346
BW2? Great gameBW? The best game in the franchise
>>59288346>It was the last generation with the old school sprite art,
>>59288748>It was the last generation with the old school sprite art,Yes, correct
>>59288748they redid every sprite for gen 6
>>59288735why is virbank right next to driftveil? why does skyarrow bridge not connect to pinwheel forest or castelia city?
>>59288757Yeah it was cool how they put more effort into gen 6
Am I ready for the e4 in b2 challenge mode? I’ll evolve gligar to Gliscor I just got to victory road so I only just got the razor fang. Might switch metagross to escavalier because he’s kind of overpowered and I need to soak up the exp on victory road because I don’t want my team to surpass level 56.
>>59288907How are you that underleveled? Were you rotating your party the entire game? My Pokemon were lv70 by the time I hit the E4.
>>59288915Yeah I’ve been rotating the party the entire game. Also I’m trying to obey level caps of b2 normal mode because I hear that challenge mode doesn’t actually increase the stats to reflect the higher levels.
>>59288915Literally everything on his team is a lategame encounter, so he probably was, lmao
>>59288918>>59288915These are all the other guys I used. I also have these ralts’s with synchronize to get the right natures for them because I’m autistic.
>>59288915>My Pokemon were lv70 by the time I hit the E4.how much grinding did you do?
>>59288938Zero. The game hands out way too much exp.
>>59288942Yeah this is kind of retarded. I’ve switched out all my pokemans multiple times and haven’t even grinded and am only on victory road and already am up against the level cap
>>59288346I personally love Bianca's fat fucking ass
>>59288942the exp scaling should keep you from getting too overleveled.I've done playthroughs with grinding and gotten to the league with a team in the low- to mid-50s. i was playing on normal mode but I can't imagine challenge mode would catapult me 20 levels higher.
>>59288964>the exp scaling should keep you from getting too overleveled.
>>59288964Challenge mode increases the levels of some teams you face but not their stats. So for exp purposes it’s like normal mode teams that give extra exp
>>59288965>sagefagyou can't help but out yourself
>>59288975>deflectionyou can't help but not refute the argument
>>59288978He can and did doebeit
>>59288978you being yawnfag is refutation enough
I've been enamored by Lampent's design since I was a young boy. I like to imagine it tipping its shade like a hat.
>>59288980He can’t and didn’t doebeit
>>59288722"If we can win people's hearts and minds, we can easily create the world that I--I mean, Team Plasma--desires!""
>>59288965I mean if you run only a single pokemon you will always be comically overleveled. The EXP gain drop off from being a higher level in Generation 5 mitigates it only somewhat.
>>59289046The argument was that the scaling prevents you from being overleveled. It doesn’t.
>>59289051It helps prevent you from becoming passively overleveled when playing normally, but Pokemon isnt an RPG with hard exp gain limitations that will stop you from just grinding levels at will. Anyone suggesting there's a hard limitation is just being overly reductive. Why is this always been bickered about anyway?
>>59289109>It helps prevent you from becoming passively overleveled when playing normally, Except it doesn’t. Especially not when the game gives you a free Lucky Egg which more than completely overrides it.
>>59289130Why do you say so? You literally gain less experience when higher level than other pokemon, this objectively slows your exp gain if you end up overleveled. The Lucky Egg does counteract a lot of that, but I've always seen its place in and around that airport town being there to try and facilitate you having an option if you want to train a new pokemon (since this is when you first get meaningful access to better electric types and ghost types).
>>59289215>Why do you say so?>>59288965
>>59289218Powerleveling a single pokemon is not organic play.
stop feeding the troll
>>59289218You mean in the game where there's a bug related to Hard mode he's abusing, but also where there's a hard EXP cap in battle? It seems like compared to Gen 1-4 and 6, you'll still end up mathematically less overleveled. This isn't even getting into the O-Power you can unlock that reduces EXP gain if you want to be less over-leveled. Furthermore, using the Lucky Egg is willingly choosing to overlevel, like grinding or using Affection unlocking features. Basically, it's both harder to overlevel in Gen 5 compared to every other game, and also you can go out of your way to make it even harder to do so.
>>59289225The game is 99% single battles. You’re “power leveling a single Pokemon” by default.>>59289240>you'll still end up mathematically less overleveledNo, because the game boosts up weaker Pokemon drastically faster and the game hands you a free Lucky Egg.
>>59289245Stop being a dumbass. It is implicit in the games design the expectation that you will have multiple pokemon you use in tandem.
>>59289555Using Lucario for all of two tiny routes + a gym doesn’t contradict having multiple Pokemon in your party.
>>59288748So how do I see Pokemon sprites in battle?
>>59288346Green raised this place to the ground and Shadow Deoxys cast it unto a dark age unlike no other. Its why there are underwater ruins. Unova used to be like Skyrim until Shadow Deoxys sank it below sea level.
>>59289557If you said your starter I'd almost believe you, but between Riolu being one of the available Pokemon in a game with an actually large encounter table it's a little odd you didn't use anything else.
>>59290198>it's a little odd that you didn't use one of the most popular pokemon in the franchise that's available at the start of the game instead of the fat pig or the snake with a shitty movepoolFind a better coping mechanism.
>>59290198it's because he's being disingenuous. now stop arguing with him.
.>>59290198Stop replying to yawnfag, he's being retarded on purpose
>Shadow Deoxys gets transported back in time>Sinks the entire shitmon regions of Unova and Kalos>Ushers in the 1000 years darkness thanks to Arceus>Day of the Apple Stem....
>>59290201If it's a popularity contest, why didn't you pick up Psyduck or Mareep on the same map, two of the most popular Pokemon from their own games? Unless you picked Oshawott as your starter, Psyduck is just worse in every way that matters.
Anyone still chipping away at the medal rally? I had a real itch to 100% a BW2 game last year and I got back into it a month ago. Max trainer card was easy, had that done in less than 2 months. Between the wifi and dream world backdoors over the last few years I've gotten the "inaccessible" medals done and am sitting at 231/255. All that remain are some melancholic grinds 1K passerby done with my old DS's set up on a soft reset loop, 1K treehollow/tower trainer wins, etc.But I'm hitting that stage where the only remaining things will be the 1K funfest points and 30-man Funfest. Has /vp/ ever historically done a meet-up? All I can think to do is see if there's interest beforehand at a Pokemon-GOfest, find some youtubefag's discord and lurk to see if a get together is planned, not opposed to anything but it's such a project. Even if you all sat down and both had two 3/DS with B2 and W2 and just hammered away at the easiest funfest, you realistically need at least 15 people, ideally way more, in one place. Not even the biggest hermitchad in the world could pull that off with 30 DS and 30 BW2 copies, fuck, even back in the day when these were the latest things I have no idea how you'd pull it off outside of a VGC regional.
Well I did it guys, just beat the game. I played challenge mode and had a level cap of 56. ended up switching metagross for escavalier because I thought he was too op. I almost jobbed to Iris because I had a swords dance boosted Gliscor and I got greedy and thought I could OHKO lapras with dig and then sweep the rest of her guys with ice fang but it didn’t work and Gliscor got killed and I lost my only ice type move since I benched metagross. But I ended up pulling through. Also Shauntal’s scarf chandelure was funny because it locked into fire blast to kill zoroark after I swept the rest of her team so I just switched into my flash fire chandelure which is immune to fire and it got cucked
>>59288377A few instances of NPCs stopping you, a thing that has existed since Gen 1
>>59288724Not as ugly as I remembered
>>59288915I solo ran and only ended up around 72
>>59288965And they didn't prove that it was accurate
>>59289245>The game is 99% single battles. You’re “power leveling a single Pokemon” by default. And yet every single kid I ever knew had a whole team of 6
>>59290834That’s because they’re kids. They’re stupid. You’re only supposed to use one.
>>59290831The pastebin link proves it's accurate, retardbro.
>>59290851>I have investigated myself and found no wrongdoing
>>59290845Even soeedrunners use multiple mons. They usually swap their starter for the boxart legendary or a strong sweeper. Also the games are balanced around full teams
