What's the point of starters being 87.5% male?

Gender ratio for starters are purely mechanic and doesn't reflect the appearance or source (Delphox=witch, Primarina=siren, Meowscarada=harlequin, etc).Females are less common because the offspring often inherits from the female parent and that creates scarcity. Like someone else said today that is more of a legacy feature that wasn't well thought when inteoduced in gen2.All I know now is that nobody is going to post a masculine looking mon and say "oOoHh, 12.5 female ooohhhh."

If you go to that declare your favourite pokemon site and look up the messages on Delphox and Primarina you will notice that most people also view them as female. (Meowscarda also has them but not as many). This is also the case with non starter pokemon with a feminine appearance they usually get described as she/her.

When you fiddle with Meow's colouring to match Doronjo though is when it stops being a coincidence and starts being an integral part of Meow's design. Can't go so close to the non-IP character without it being creative choice.
