Biggest thing I'd do is extend the passage significantly and slow the pacing down. Go deeper on the evocative description, give Palkia's introduction in the scene more action (e.g. Palkia appearing in the air, and then descending onto the ground with a whoosh of air the other characters feel), and put in more of Gideon's perspective and reactions to Palkia's appearance and actions. As is, the passages are oddly brisk and almost workmanlike as a narratively important introduction to one of the most powerful and otherworldly gods in the setting.

If you like having surprise reveals in battles, keeping back some of the results from training is a good idea. When it comes to a big new skill or move, you’ll likely want to show that (if you’re not going to showcase that in battle at least). True strength for a Pokemon (to me at least) ultimately comes from the a combination of the training and the bond the Pokemon has with its trainer. Big character moments for the Pokemon can essentially count as a training scene in this regard. While I try to give every Pokemon a character arc, I tend to separate them on a per arc basis since my WIP has a large cast. Also going through desperate battles for the trainer should greatly enhance the bond, and the Pokémon’s strength where a trainer witj an easier ride won’t have the same sort trust and strength in the bond witj their Pokemon. When my MC rematches his rival who’s had everything easy, he wipes the floor with their broken ass team and will get to echo this sentiment. The rival’s team is retardedly broken, but it’s never fought a desperate, life or death struggle which has made it soft overall.
