Pokémon Sapphire was my very first video game ever, and I have a very fond memory of the first time I played it. My dad gave me a GBA for my birthday, and we sat together on the couch as he helped me learn the controls and everything. When Prof. Birch was in danger and I had to pick a Pokémon, we both immediately agreed that Treecko was the strongest-looking one out of the three. Then when it came time to nickname it, I couldn't come up with anything and my dad just said "I dunno, he kinda looks like a Sam to me."I wish I could end this one a wholesome note like, "And Sam the Sceptile made it all through all these years and I'm currently using him in Pokémon Champions" or something, but no. I got around 7 badges in before my brother started a new game and saved over my file. Next thing I knew, I was opening up a save file with like 10 minutes on it and just a single Mudkip named Fish.
