>>59474125Pokemon sci-fi should be like Star Trek. I think the settings could mesh pretty well together if the goal is to discover new pokemon.

Oh my fucking God, okay I'll just post this unfinished piece because I don't have any time (gotta go to work in half an hour) and I've been trying to get it done for the last few days and I'm getting impatient with my own progress.I haven't read both Dimensional Penfriends and Spice and Fox, so I'm just basing this off of the summary.Rainlocked country so rain (and just a random umbrella). For the Zorua I have her (I think?) holding a letter in her mouth.I don't know if their characters are correct at all, so my apologies if they're acting out of character. Also didn't know if I should've included the Riolu, but decided to just keep it to the foxes for now.
I must ask - do you guys ever feel that you hit a point in your story where you go "damn, I SHOULD NOT have introduced this character".Not neccessarily in a "I hate this character now" context but if that covers you feel free to share. In my case it's more of a "I want to introduce more, clearly different characters that help with the story but my existing cast might get bloated" or "maybe I shouldn't have had two characters from my MC's home accompany him and by all accounts he's sufficient as an "outsider" character as the rest of the cast is made of people from this strange new side of the world".>>Thread question:>What would your sci-fi pokemon setting look like? You see, the charm of using Pokemon as a setting is the variety of our namesake creatures. So I ask myself - what if this is a setting where some Pokemon have to go extinct? What if this is a setting where some Pokemon have to get left behind as we venture into the Final Frontier?I had a few ideas, such as the Clefairy and Beeheeyem race being on the Galactic Council. As a story first lore second kinda guy, perhaps to skirt around the idea of brand new Pokemon, I could imply that existing Pokemon get lost on other planets and evolve as we venture, or that the phenomena that create Pokemon like Minior exist on other planets too.
