My heart sank when I opened the envelope. "Did he send me someone else's order by mistake?" But apparently the seller just decided to throw 17 extra bulk cards in with my stuff.
I need help, I haven't bought Pokemon cards in ages (not since the e reader era) and found out a number of stores around me have old Pokemon booster packs from the x and y era onwards. The problem is that each of these establishments are a little sus and I don't know how to tell if they're legit or fakes.Does anyone have a complete resource on how to tell legit booster packs from fake ones? I would appreciate it. Note it's not explicitly x and y but the general eras from that point on and onwards. I'm probably going to have to ask this again because this thread is about to sage so don't be surprised if I ask this again. Thank you all.
>>59514678What do you want these packs for? Please tell me you don’t intend to buy expensive, out-of-print packs to open. Excellent way to turn 50 bucks into 50 cents
Nice, I'm only missing one of Morukawa's cards. Carmine is the best card ever printed so they deserve it.
>>59514700>What do you want these packs for? Please tell me you don’t intend to buy expensive, out-of-print packs to open. Excellent way to turn 50 bucks into 50 centsThey're selling at their original MSRP so it's like 7 bucks a pop per pack. Is there a resource for telling the difference between legit and fake booster packs? I really don't want to fall for a trap, 7 bucks is enough to feed myself for lunch for the day.
>>59514656Mewritas
>>59514747No shot is some store selling decade-old packs for original MSRP. Stores aren’t even selling in-print packs for MSRP now. If these were legit, they’d have sold out the day they were shelved.
>>59514784Cool reverse holos, anon. Love the Sudowoodo, and the pokeball pattern is extremely based
>>59514710You dont own any cards
>>59514747>They're selling at their original MSRP so it's like 7 bucks a pop per pack.they are fake
>>59514780>>59514804I'm asking because these stores have been around for ages. These are local businesses not some target or card shop. Can anyone please just point me to a resource that helps people find out if a pack is fake or not? I'll report back for shits and giggles
>>59514837I don't have a detailed resource for good fakes but something very common with the cheap fakes are the spiky cuts at the top and bottom of the packs. real packs don't have those.
>>59514837Just dont buy packs if you're this paranoid.
>>59514837Buy one pack, open it, and post the fakes.Just think for a moment, though. The odds of you stumbling onto a store with a bunch of old product are astronomically low. If even one person with the slightest TCG knowledge found it before you, it would be cleaned out in moments. But you’re saying it’s a local shop? Is it like a convenience store? What’s the situation? Convenience stores love stocking fake shit.
>>59514664Bulk cards are worth nothing so sellers basically throw them away.
>>59514678Don't buy loose packs regardless of old or new.Investorchuds and scalpers have poisoned the hobby that you cannot be 1000% sure. Even if they're legit they could have been resealed since all vendors, investorchuds and scalpers use card holo detecting devices. If you want to return to buying Pokemon cards the "cheapest" way is to buy singles of Pokemon/characters you like whether online or in person if you have a local card shop or card convention. Modern packs have been turbojewish for like 2-3 years now, if you really want to rip up packs like the good old days just preorder (if you can) for the 30th anniversary and buy as many as you can afford.
>>59514798I spent $500 this weekend on cards bro. This one was cool as fuck but way too expensive.
>>59514979Mary can get it, honestly. What were they asking for this reverse? What did you end up picking up?
Just bought this for $100. Dodrio is one of my favorites so it's worth it. I mainly have modern cards from pack opening a bunch, but this felt really special.
>>59514984>What did you end up picking up?A fuck ton of Japanese trainers. Finally bought this footslut.
>>59515024That is my wife, do NOT call her a slut.
>>59515024slut
Keep buying waifus!
>>59515001100 bucks seems pretty decent. Looks to be in good shape, though always a bit hard to tell with the legendary foil
>>59515060What is it that makes it hard to tell with it? I haven't been around collecting all too much before.I have a primape from the same set that, on the surface, looks fine but when angled you tell it has odd dents (not creases). So something like that?
>didn't buy the BW Oshawott AR when it was $7FUCK
I've never been to a card show but Youtube keeps forcing these vendor trade videos into my feed. Are vintage collectors rare? I would assume everyone in their 30s would have at least a decent number of WotC and promos but all I ever see is the same modern slop being traded over and over.
>>59515097>be modernchad>do nothing>winNo one cares about your moldy vintage cards grandpa. Deal with it
>>59515097>be genuine collector>do nothing>cause seethe Everyone cares about your moldy vintage cards grandpa. Deal with it

>>59515060absolute shitmon
>>59515078The holofoil is super busy, so it obscures scuffs and scratches and dents quite well.
>>59515125yep you got me. I'm that one schizo that is replying to you everywhere. Every post about vintage which you so reasonably have a vendetta against is from me, the schizophrenic. Well spotted, mr. seamonkey.
>>59515138>be vintagechad>do nothing>collection balloons to $150k
Can you fags just answer my question.
>>59515148Are you the brain genius asking about the trove of sealed out-of-print product? It’s fake. Buy 1 (one) pack, open it, and see for yourself.
>>59515153No, I'm asking about frequency of vintage collectors.
>>59515155Everyone and their mom is a vintage collector
>>59515155>frequency of vintage collectorsThey barely exist IRL, existing only on oldhead forums, hence the seething>>59515108 this post created
>>59515155I see way more modernslop everywhere, and I think it’s far more hyped than vintage. Most of my local shops only have a tiny amount of vintage, and even then, it’s all crap (that is, unlimited or beat up)
>>59515097vintage collectors are collectors, they don't sell unless they need toits also why wotc cards are so expensive, even the common/uncommon bulksevery boomer is going to hold on to their personal collection until gen x'ers and millennials start dying en masse 20-40 years from nowthere's only a few true chase cards in the wotc lineup and most don't want to part with it
>>59515155As an LGS owner very very very few people actively collect vintage, at least in good condition. Its expensive, low quality, visually worse, and we have reached the point where the majority of people dont have nostalgia for stuff like base set. Most people buy the cheapest versions they can to fill their binder. Most people would rather buy a $20 near mint IR/SIR then a beat to hell vintage non holo for the same price. The ones who are looking for better quality are almost always trying to grade/resell/invest, as vintage has actual market value in 6/7/8 unlike modern.
>>59515166>I think it’s far more hyped than vintageIsn't that odd considering this entire hobby blew up because of the boxing jew that exclusively opens base set?
>>59515273I mean, there’s more of it, it’s more accessible, and there’s always some new slop coming out. For Noveltyfags and children, it’s easier to get excited about The Brand New Thing than old, ossified cards.
>seller cancels order
>>59515302Threaten to report them
>>59515312They wiped all their inventory from the website. I dunno what's going on with them.
>>59515300I don't know, I quit at Gym Heroes so I have no nostalgia for Neo but I still think they're the most beautiful set printed and I want to get as many as I can. Guess there's more people that enjoy tasteless slop out there though.
>still buying modern
>still grading cards
>still buying non holos
Do Japanese mid era cards have a more vibrant cosmo holo than English cards? I feel like my deoxys JP Jirachi shined more than my current EN one.
>>59515415I think Japanese cards have better holos in general.
>>59514636>>59514656I love this Magcargo. This is some of Arita's finest work. While I will almost never say that I rather have my reverse holo in place of a regular holo, I will say that I do appreciate how the reverse holos let you fully appreciate the artwork while also having that wonderful iridescence.
>still buying physical
>>59515423I feel like that's likely to be true but also for some reason some english cards just have less shiny holos. For example I traded the Shaymin Unleashed for a JP copy and the difference was very obvious. Meanwhile these 2 cards shine about the same to me.
>>59514758GOD GAMMIT I WANT THAT FUCKING GX SO BADI HATE SCALPERS I HATE SCALPERS I HATE SCALPERS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Memories of the era of Gen 3 where they started showing the Gen 4 Pokemon way ahead of time
This card would be so fucking cute if the girl didn't have such a big nose.
>>59515246By quality you mean condition, right? Say what you will about WotC but the cardstock quality was leagues better under them than after. Visually worse is entirely subjective but digital art will never be better than hand drawn illustrations.
This card has no business being under $20
Here's one - post a valuable card you USED to be in possession of but traded away, lost, or had it stolen from you in your school days.Pic related, I traded a kid a Bibarel and something else for it only to suddenly not have it in my pocket by the time lunch ended. I suspect pick-pocketed like the scrub I was, even though I remember it was in pretty poor condition then for the 45 minutes I owned it
>>59515868I used to have this deck which included 2 uncensored Misty's Tears and I think I threw it out when I got a girlfriend in high school because I felt like I needed to "grow up". I was a fucking retard back then.
>>59515894Forgot pic. The retardation still flows in these veins.
>>59515809>$20Its $10 in nipponland
>>59515868Like, my entire childhood collection. No idea where it ended up (I had a lot of toys as a kid, and I’m sure at some point my parents just purged my binders to make space for new shit). Would have been a bunch of 1st editions from Jungle to Neo. Only have a tiny handful of my original cards now, maybe most notably a Japanese Neo Genesis Lugia.
It's a good feeling when a Pokémon you like doesn't have any expensive cards, as you can Master set them soo easily.
>>59515868Most kids in school stopped playing around the Neo era, the local hobby store that I used to frequent around the Team Rocket-Gym Challenge eraEveryone in that store reverted back to Magic or switched to Yugioh, Pokemon stopped being popular after Gen 2; if anyone remained they were mostly collectorsThe boom came back again in full force around the Platinum/HGSS era and died again when Gen 5 showed up but the boom was focused squarely on the vidya, not the cardsThe cards boomed back around the late XY-early Sun/Moon era and was comfy until the Sword/Shield era
>>59516206It was really comfy all the way until Surging Sparks and Prismatic Evolutions.I will never be able to pre-order at prices like this again.
>>59516227I'm just glad to have returned during 151 and was able to buy tons of stuff at MSRP as well as master setting 25th anniversary and buying some Crown Zenith cards (luv me Secret Vstar Arceus/Dialga/Palkia/Giratina and those Hisuian full arts)
>>59516227God, even 151 wasn't a headache to get when it released in 2023. I doubt most of these scalpers have seen any profit from reselling modern.
>>59515055The only waifu card I'll ever need. Have stopped caring about the newer sets because its all the same scalped racketeering shit. I wish these tourists would go back to trafficking illegal drugs. Its not the average white collar worker hoarding physical product, its the ex-felon types all tatted up and shit.
I take it all back, the FURs are fucking sick. Those FUR energies are even cool.https://x.com/Pokemon_cojp/status/2089714154877673625
30th anniversary will be a shitstorm like Prismatic, Destined Rivals, Ascended Heroes and Phantasmal FlamesDoesn't matter if they're overprinted into Yugioh levels, scalpers will mass buy themEvery Target and Walmart would need multiple 20+ wheelers dropping product daily if they want everyone to get some at MSRPIf TPC were smart they'd mass print Pikachu and classic collection godpacks to nuke scalpers and investors in one go
>>59516315They have a cool 80s design look but the stamp still completely ruins them.
>Mogs you
>>59516321I was able to buy tons of Destined Rivals at walmart. Every week when it came out blisters and sleeved packs were dumped by the hundreds on the shelf. They would literally just open three cases of sleeved boosters and sit the cases down on the shelf. Nobody wanted phantasmal flames when it came out. It was the worst performing ME block set for a long time til Perfect Order came out.
>>59516360that's definitely a local thing in your area if true at all.Destined Rivals has been giga scalped since day 1 and so was Phantasmal Flames.Just look at the price of a DR ETB.
What gives with the masterball reverses in 151? I wanted a gastly, but it’s like $100+, whereas a masterball Porygon is like 10 bucks
Great news, I bought a card that wasn't massively overpriced, woohoo. Not the lowest price, but mid range, even low mid range. It will probably be fake (it's not a display art card), as I guess that is the next trap to fall into (probably already buying resealed boosters unknowingly), but fugg it, a slight bit of progress is better than no progress.
>>59516481I genuinely mean this in the nicest way possible even if it's hard to believe but do you have some kind of disorder or learning deficiency? I just want to understand.
>>59516544I suspect yes, but since no formal diagnosis, nope I'm normal af.
I thank God every day that Umbreon is my least favorite Eevee.I'd be fucking broke trying to get it's cards.
>>59516635Could always use it to your advantage.
>>59516552>>59516481What is going on, anon? Why are you constantly stepping on rakes? There must be a way to avoid this
>>59516718Just the way it is. Can't improve if not making mistakes.
>>59516635Was umbreon always the number one Eevee evolution? Or is this just a result of that stupid, ugly moonbreon card?
>>59516729I’m thinking back to my early mistakes when re-entering the hobby, and it was things like: buying unlimited cards, buying anything other than NM cards, buying packs or modern cards I didn’t actually care about. But I wasn’t getting scammed or paying way over market price. Now, the barrier to entry back then was much smaller then, but still.
>>59516734Literally always. Umbreaon gold star was a top 5 card in the hobby since inception.
>>59516786I don’t mean in terms of value, more in terms of popularity. The gold star is a bit of an unusual situation owing to its exclusivity (and it belonging to a popular sub-set of shiny cards).I guess I get the sense that Espeon and Umbreon were always A-listers, though.
>>59516404Blame Gengar being a fuckin $1000 masterball card. People want the whole set so it doesn't surprise me Ghastly is $100.
>>59516796
>>59516800>Gengar is a $1000 masterball cardMy Komiya collection will never financially recover from this
>>59516808Not sure I trust the AI overview without checking its sources (if they exist). I’d really have to see the polls themselves. When I check Gemini, for instance, it says Umbreon is one of the most popular, and it cites the TCG as proof (and it links to a site discussing moonbreon).
>>59516748I've only paid above market value on the one card so far, the digital japanese holo. That was almost double the value of the card, and that was just genuine excitement at seeing it, and stupidity for not researching it first. A lot of them have been the high end of the market value, but only paid above this one time. Got properly scammed on a pitch black mega evolutions booster pack (never dispatched), bought one at market value (but P+P as well) and another (it's good to be able to pull cards while not taking a massive loss on ye olde packs that could return nothing cool) as there are some cool cards in them, but also there's the possibility of reseals and really cool cards being removed). I am trying to get a pre order in for a 30th pack from the official site, think it might even be 6, but money depending (poorfag).I'm not afraid to post my mistakes, but for 3 months in, in current scalper/investor era I don't think I've done too bad.

>>59516966I wish I could, but they’re overpriced everywhere I look
>>59516999I was wasting money on inferior collectibles that didn’t “Spark Joy.” Ultimately made more sense for me to just save up and buy things I was actually happy with instead of impulse buying pieces just because they were inexpensive or accessible.
Finally bought the card on the left. I think the face is way worse (looks like a sheboon) than the one on the right, still I'm happy to own every Bea and Nessa card.

>>59518674>you can unsleeve a card without ruining itDidnt say that you couldnt but with that card you probably shouldnt especially if youre going to take a dogshit picture.
>>59518640>Scyther AR when??? probably never
>>59518652>>59518360How do you guys figure the Vending series is overpriced? It's the literal first set, Japan exclusive, have nice art, and a unique coating that separate them from everything else. I'd say that have more condition scarcity than any other set just in how they were distributed. Is it just because the Japanese saw no value in them and threw them in bargain bins until a few years ago and you cant get cheapies anymore? All vintage is like that. Are they not allowed to move with the rest of the market?
Not card related, but there is some absolute nightmare fuel Pokemon artwork in this magazine. It honest to god made me shudder when I turned the page to it.
>>59518761This schizo does his psycho scratches on an ipad?
>>59518684As someone external to this conversation, what is this argument even about? This is beyond retarded. Dude can unsleeve his shit if he wants. But good god, ooyama’s pikachu is way too expensive now.
>>59518770Not even a big ipad. Just a regular one.
>>59518773im just telling the guy to take better care of his card. he posted some random ass Tornadus in a magnet case before so its not like he doesnt have them.Heaven forbid I plead for someone to take better care of their cards.
>>59518759I’m not saying they’re “overpriced,” necessarily. Their price is what “the market will bear” or whatever. But nevertheless, you could get 75% of these cards for like $3 a piece just five years ago. Crazy to see some shitter like Metapod fetching 85 bucks now. My gut feeling is that vending has shot up in price over and above even other vintage sets. I suppose it’s probably just that no one gave a shit about them until recently, but now there’s a large, global market interested in them.
>>59518761That magmar one is cool af, it looks mental, I love it.Bought it, but could only find the English version. After P+P, less than £1. Need to find a Japanese version now.
>>59518800i actually use that Magmar card as a bookmark since I like it so much.
>>59518802He's done a few good ones. I have the kecleon card he illustrated, there's a really good blitzle I've just seen, and roaring moon ex, galarian moltres looks good, also the moltres looks kind of cool as well.Is yours a card you pulled, or bought?
Looks like near-mint to me
>>59518828would be listed as light played with no picture on cardmarket
>>59518828Get it graded anon.
>>59518836
>>59518851Oh wow, quick turn around. Mint as well. You undergraded it by saying near mint, good job you're not a grader, you'd have graded it a 9.
Today’s mail.I understand the masterballs now. I need that $1000 Gengar
>>59518908Wait what the fuck, how did Gengar alone get the moonbreon treatment? Why is this the most desirable masterball?
>>59518908those masterballs suck so much compared to the prismatic balls
>two of themI need to get this shit graded for the Charizardfag buyers
>>59518936Or this could just be a retirement fund
>finally found my Topps binder >pretty much every cards is trashed tfw I just want to throw them away now
>>59518935Oh the prismaster ball looks pretty cool, yeah. First I’m seeing of it
>>59519056>>59518935Is there a single good card in Prismatic? I’d like to buy a masterball just to have one, but every card appears to be total dogshit
>>59518759I have been to Japan twice last year, and even in November 2025 during the phantasmal peak, vending cards were still widely available in almost all stores in Tokyo, at prices ranging from 300 to 5000 yen for almost all cards excluding masakis and holos. Many of the sub-700yen ones were in bulk bins.Online had higher prices, but nothing like now.5000 yen is 30$. Now 30$ is the baseline for half of the common ones, while rarer ones went up to 100+$.I assume physical stores now reflect this madness, maybe next February I'll be back to Tokyo so I'll check.
>>59519064I’ve settled on the Kadabra, as it has decent art and the whole, “they couldn’t print a kadabra for two decades” gimmick is still funny to me
>>59519079Whycome you’re in Japan so much, and how do I also get to Japan so much?
>>59518755nice, I can't read moon runes, does the interview describe at all about how the backgrounds are made and cards are staged? or is it all digital fuckery?also please post more from whatever this is
Really pleased with this page.
>>59519094First time was a trip I had planned in advance, second time was for work, and now I'm doing everything I can in the office to create new opportunities to do business trips to Japan
>>59519126Based pidgeyanon, don't overspend this month
>>59519144That’s cool as hell, great job, anon. I’ve been twice and I’m forever conspiring to get back.
>>59519147I'll wait as long as I can, but want to have a good think of a card for the bottom row, do the same thing with variations (pokeball holo, Japanese, English, Chinese with pokeball), but there's a few things I need to check first.I do plan on being a better buyer, it's ok thinking oh it's only money, but it could be a couple more cards, or pitch black booster pack, even stickers.
>>59519126I'm not, where is your e-reader Pidgeot?

>>59519228Thanks, hope you get a quick sale with no hassle for your card.

>>59519126Changed my mind, I think I will take the 3 cards from the top row, and swap them for some vending series cards, just have the similar Koga's cards for that page.
>>59515868My older cousin once gave me his binder when I was around 13. Unlimited Charizard and possibly Blastoise, among others. I think I sold them years later. I was obsessed with shadowless cards for awhile and had amassed a large hoard of them. I donated them to the thrift store probably around 2015. I think there was a first edition Blastoise among them. I bought one of pic related at Wal-Mart around 2012 that had a Venusaur Base set pack in the center of the three. We stopped for drinks at the gas station down the street on the way home. I opened it in the back seat. Charizard. I also think I may have given it away with the shadowless cards. I had a terrible habit of giving away things that I had grown disinterested in. I bought my current Unlimited Charizard for around $170 a few years ago.
>>59515868found this guy for 30 usd at my locals one daywent through a rough time and had to sell for 75. of course this was years ago when it was that price normally.
>>59515868Pretty damn sure I had a base set Charizard that my grandmother threw out in a hissy fit because I didn't immediately put my binder away when I was doing other chores
Theoretically speaking, the Pokemon card market won't ever crash unless the current economy crashes completely because that would mean people don't have anything to spend on. And even when it does happen and the card market dips to lowest lows, it's going to rebound again to the highest of highest eventually as the economy recovers. That's if it ever recoversScalpers, sneaker heads, and richfags have unironically found the perfect way to hold their money in a object and I envy them to an extent because who has the money to buy over 10k of product these days, let alone 1?
>>59519510How will collectors buy the cards when theyre eaten by those that couldn't afford them? That and its also dependent on if its a CAN-AM economy or if foreigners enjoy english cards too to buy the cards up if its just USD that bottoms out
>>59519510Pokemon cards are not money until you sell them. When invoostors will stop selling to each other to inflate their portfolios and egos, and most collectors will be driven away, who will buy your PSA10 pikachu with 20k pop?
>>595196142 more weeks.
>2 more weeks and i can cash in my moonbreons! Trust the plan cumrag!
I dont collect modern.
>>59519701Everybody is cashing out now for 30th anon.If you are a buyer, now is the right time.
I'm leaning towards possibly getting fucked on my last deal. The values were similar but still.
>>59519510>tulip market won't ever crashfamous last words
>>59519510>>59519614>>59519523It will never crash until the actual TCG cards cost and arm and a leg.Investorchuds and scalpers only care about "chase" cards. Pokemon can easily kick them out by churning out Perfect Orders and Chaos Risings every few months until all of them dip out of the hobby but they won't since they're also in it for the shekels.
>>59518408I bought them I can do everything I want with them.
>>59519927the Pokemon Market is gonna crash soon but it's probably going to be tied up in the next massive financial crisis, in like a few months.
>>59520260Kek source?
>>59520260The Pokemon market will only crash when the series fades out. Even though it took a hit with the Ashnime ending, the games are still top sellers and even the scalping in itself is preserving its notoriety. We're in the 30th anniversary, but it make take until the 40th or 50th before it finally becomes irrelevant
>>59520249Sure, just like someone ripping up their Black Lotus, it's not mine so I don't care but one has to ask "why?".
>>59520260>a few monthsMight as well just say 2 more weeks lmao.
My waifu card collection is expanding.
>>59520294>Even though it took a hit with the Ashnime endingPost any source of this. Anyone that had the capacity to move the market at all checked out of the anime decades before it ended. It ended on such a whimper that I'd doubt most people that watched the first episode of Ash's journey even know it ended.
I just saw an old man that looked like pic related, I kid you not.
>>59520398wtf even is this?
>>59520401A Japanese mask?
I just want to call sellers>sellers>that dont sell btwnigger faggots on cardmarket.com is that too much to ask??????why cant the whole internet be like 4chan we call people faggot jew bitch nigger faggots?? it's not fair bro...tl;dr this """""""seller""""""" didn't want to sell at all because i asked him if his price could come down at all and showed him several websites with prices around the 100-120 range, and he was all "i'll keep my price at £145 thanks" and it's the "thanks" that's made me seethe for the last 4 days because i just know it was meant sarcastically since he cant say anything else because i would report him, as he would me if i called him a niggerfaggot and then it's just not worth it is it? lose access to cm.com and never be able to buy from thre again...anyway got some pics, thanks to that anon that was all "just buy it, guranteed" blah blah, your wording really helped me make up my mind on this, biggest purchase and best purchase so far!so happy with it!also why do people sell as "near mint"? this thing is obviously mint... i took some pics of the side and bottom and stuff, there's no nothing... it's mint... i think it's mint.also got lugia v that i was talking about the other day, and i did the 2x zoom thing but the photos are bad full res so i've sent slightly better looking but smaller res ones.. im taking pictures with a 10 year old phone, maybe it's that idkanyway yeah long post is long, but super happy, thanks for the encouragement to just buy the card! i guess you can buy happiness! :-)
>>59520456Near Mint is the default because Cardmarket defines it as "booster fresh" Mint is usually used for graded cards or sellers who are extra confident in the condition.
>>59520458Mint = PSA 8-10NM = PSA 7EX = PSA 6-7Good = PSA 5-6LP = trashMP = trashHP = dumpster fireDamaged = PSA 1
>>59520456Dont mean to be a dick but its kind of a crazy lack of self awareness to hate not being able to call people niggers outside of 4chan while also claiming you'd report the guy for saying anything more than a sarcastic thanks. He's perfectly in his right to not sell the card lower than he wants to.You also can't technically say that on a blue board on this cuck site anymore either.
Investing is such a meme, in 20-30 years the society will be so fucked people will have more important things on their minds than collectibles
>>59519510>the Pokemon card market won't ever crash unless the current economy crashes completely because that would mean people don't have anything to spend on. And even when it does happen and the card market dips to lowest lows, it's going to rebound again to the highest of highestTraditionally, collectibles are generally insulated from broader market downturns. Covid was a bit of an unusual case, but even before with the 2008 financial crisis, pokemon cards actually increased in value during that time. Most people, even (or maybe especially) in a pinch, don’t really want to part with things with sentimental value, and so people typically hold their collectibles irrespective of financial conditions. Though with the rise of the dispassionate “investor” in pokemon and the hypebeast normie newfags, who knows what the degree of sentimental investment is today.
Booster pack came, pleased with these, but the shadowy energy is damaged, pulled damaged. I wanted the charcadet and manky, so quite pleased.
>>59520709The damaged energy card, it looks like it's been squashed, none of the other cards are like that.
And my topps card came as well. Need to try and get those bits off it somehow, but will look into that as I don't want to damage the card.
>>59520709The other 5 cards. I pulled thievul in the last booster.
>>59518551This is definitely a special card, hidden gem type of card. It's the ONLY way to get this card in alphabet lettering and even English name. Seething no-card angloids will tell you otherwise, but just ignore them and let them wallow in their seethe of high en/jp card prices
>>59520698Thanks for the insight time traveller bro.
>>59520698They said the same thing 30 years ago.
>>59520709>>59520714>>59520725>dented card fresh out of the packSo you accidentally bought a repack, a sloppy one at that
>>59520747Alphabet lettering doesnt matter when you sound like a money trying to read it.
>>59520754More than likely, yes. I tried to inspect the pack, but being inexperienced it looked fine (everything looks fine to the clueless, amarite).
>>59520769Just dont buy packs, dude. Its not worth it anymore. It was never worth it but now even doubly so with resealers all over the place.
>>59520781It's so shit, what people have done to this. I want to be able to pull and find cool stuff like you lot got to do. Or even not pull cool stuff, but just not immediately distrust the person selling it.
>>59520747Does a single person care about “alphabet lettering” apart from you? I care about the card’s language, which is why I exclusively buy English and Japanese cards. I’m not going to buy a second-rate card written in Unga Bunga speak just because those grunts and howls happen to be transliterated using Latin script.
>>59520769>>59520844These are the seething no-card angloids I was talking about earlier
The SEA money is so retarded he couldnt even (You) the right posts.
>>59520850I'm mad at the market, but not at anything else.
>>59520850Nice try, poorfriend You are literally buying what may as well be counterfeit cards because you can’t afford the real deal.
>>59520850I know thinking isnt really your people's strong suit but you do realize the irony of saying anglos are seething while you had to use their alphabet because your people were too stupid to make their own?
>>59520857>posting his junk sub gem mint vintageAt least post some real vintage cards like that unsleeved masaki poster earlier>>59520866>still haven't posted his cards
>>59520936You literally buy Indonesian pokemon cards. But that said, are you Indonesian? Perfectly fine to buy Indonesian pokemon cards if so (though I don’t know why you’re making a big deal out of the Latin script).>>59520866It is sort of funny to say this in a thread/board dedicated to a Japanese cultural product, given the Japanese just lifted Kanji whole cloth from China.
>>59520754who reseals pitch black? nobody is buying them
>be me>be missing glory days of dirt cheap vending cards>see the arita vending venomoth listed for like 9 bucks>looks clean>impulse buy it>check listing>”MP”>tfw you bought someone’s ruined card>it arrives today>some chipping on the back (whocares.png)>gloss is pristineSometimes life’s pretty alright
>>59521103Glad it worked out for you. Is the chipping on the back bad or just little blips here and there?
>>59521125There’s a decent amount of chipping, but as far as vending is concerned, the gloss is King. A nice, clean, shiny gloss really all I care about. I’d never call this MP though. I’m quite happy with it
Thicc swirl Mewtwo
>>59521180That looks quite decent for the back being MP, and as you said, the gloss is beautiful on the front.
>>59514979Ah a fellow stamp collector
>>59520456nice anon, that gardevoir is my favorite card so far, has all the evos and the mega looks great too. it is also a better idea financially to buy a single you really like if it isnt $5000, than try to get it with packs. 1/80 for ANY sir. that specific one is like 1/1000 (mega evo has many sirs). I wanted that one specifically cause I like the pokemon and it has all the evos in 1 card, plus it looks like a stained glass window, 10/10 art imo.but buying the single means you have it to enjoy and put on a stand or in a binder.
