Within our Nation Arc 11
It really starts off with a bang this time with after another timeskip, Sabrina's gym trainers beginning their assault on the Rocket Hideout. TR does unsurprisingly well at first but Sabina's gym trainers manage to free her pretty early in the battle but for some reason they didn't kill her pokemon despite that being a thing TR does. Honestly I' still kind of disappointed we didn't get a scene of Tsuyu's pokemon being killed. Well due to that she ends up holding her own against Jessie and James's mega Swoobat and Malamar. Dabi goes to town on some people with a Megamachamp and I'm surprised he doesn't manage to catch any bodies here Jessie and James bring out their whole teams but still don't manage to touch Sabrina despite her.
I think one of her gym trainers does die, although the text doesn't specify if Casca actually kills her hostage. Either way her Dugtrio goes down allowing the psychics to teleport out but Dabi follows them back to the gym. Sabrina continues to do well until the loser with the shadow pokemon re-activates his psychic dampener, which promptly explodes, but that gives them enough time to dogpile Sabrina who's forced to flee leaving after telling Hoshi the obvious truth that the Johtonian conspiracy was all in his head.

Oh yeah, earlier before that Jessie and James explain their plan to reveal the original Kanto-Johto peace treaty, which will...? Do something I guess we already know that Johto isn't up to anything so I don't really care, besides their Free the League guys who represented Team Rocket's views within acceptable mainstream politics already disbanded so it's not like they have any legitimacy if, and big if, they both beat Clair, and their attack on the league is successful.
Even Hoshi knows giving the average TR grunt any amount of authority is a terrible idea, although he dismisses it because it's a smart thought and he's very dedicated to being dumb.
>>
>>59625398
After the attack they find Doc Hypno with all his teeth and pokemon knocked out, before beginning their assault on Saffron City itself with the help of a bunch of Karate men ala Boxer Rebellion. Although I'm surprised a huge ass explosion didn't already set off the city in a panic and it took the TR and Karate forces moving down mainstreet to do that.

Anyways once the action starts it cuts to Puce's parents, who are pretty dedicated to make sure the one who caused all of this pays. Cue Hoshi being punched in the face.

Anyways the raid goes worse then they planned, they couldn't hold the pokecenter so were forced into the old dojo, and despite repelling the Military Police temporarily they took a lot of casualties, although no named characters, only mobs. After that Hoshi helps Jessie and James plan for the attack on the League.

Also apparently Silph Co.'s creation of the Porygon destroyed the internet. Lol. Well that's my assumption. Clair vague posts about Cilph not rebbling, which means they will rebel, and they created the Jet and Pearl Ball so they seem to be antagonists. From there it's not too big of a leap to assume the creators of the Porygon were involved in the creation of Porygon.exe and wanting to blow up the internet seems like something a villain group might want to do for whatever reason.

Of course Hoshi's plan involves getting more people who know and cared about him hurt, with the team eventually running into Nerine and the guy she knocked out who she's now working with. I would've insinuated their banging as well since that'd be funny but lol.

Puce thinking that she'll only be committing treason if she loses is funny, no one is going to be accepting of Team Rocket as the new rulers of the country. The Inner Ministry is right about that.
>>
>>59625400
Anyways Puce is such a bad tainer it's funny, she even brought Nerrine's pokemon along expecting them to listen to her when she's the one who tried to strangle Nerine. So of course that bites her in the ass, eventually forcing Hosho to deal with Nerine. She escapes, almost killing one of Hoshi's pokemon and dropping a truth bomb on him at the same time:
>You’re a two-bit gangster with delusions, Hoshi Mutsu
At least someone said it.
I still would have liked to see Nerine get killed brutally, that'd really fuck up Puce and I'd love the reaction to Hoshi doing it too. They also fight a bunch of cops.

The interlude is a bunch of gambit pile ups, other than that Blaine is trying to stop Bill. You go old man.

He pays me in attention and answers to my odd questions.
That reminds me, I came up with an analogy regarding WoN.
You know how in PoPT innocuous world building details like Galar's corruption and Leon doping will just exist to flesh out the world? Well, if that happened in Within our Nation then Chairman Rose would show up, say something about how Eternatus is a giant that predated Arceus' creation of the Cosmos, and its corpse was used to create the Poison-type, and then he'd re-enact the climax of pokemon Ghost Grey's postgame.

Going off this logic I rolled a freaking Swirlix, so Tobio would be still have a canine partner in a sense. But it would not be as effective at dealing with ghosts.
>>
What makes a Pokemon an evolution or prevolution? I could just let this be if the Eviolite wasn't a thing, but clearly the Eviolite is reacting to something.

E.g. what makes it so that Tandemaus can use the Eviolite but Maushold cannot? What of Slowpoke and its evolutions?
>>
>>59626267
I vaguely remember Mega Evolution lore mentioning there was some difference in the energy of a fully evolved pokemon, and its because of that difference that unevolved pokemon can't mega evolve. I can't remember what it was though.
But I wouldn't recommend wasting your time putting too much accuracy into the fine details Gamefreak's canon. Either don't address it or make up your own logic, you'll have a much less painful time that way.
>>
>>59626267
That's a pretty good question, anon. Its one that many Pokemon Professors dedicate entire lifetimes studying and I doubt we'll ever seen some grand unified answer that works for every Pokemon.
Though without a sample of my own to verify this theory, this is the best I, (you), and we, the theoretical isekaixenobiologists, can think of:
In organic Pokemon, an Eviolite is a thyroid like organ that does two things.
1. Increases stem cells production.
2. Reprograms stem cells into specialized "armour" cells
Now why does this not work for Pokemon that are at their final evolution?
I think it has to go back to stem cells. Stem cells are the ultimate jack of all trades, capable of turning into any other cell in the body. However at a certain point in most animals, the body massively slows down or even halts on its production upon reaching adulthood. This is simply because further development is not needed.
Therefore we can assume that final evos have a much lower ratio of stem to normal cells compared to their pre-evolutions. So low in fact that the Eviolite can't stimulate the body into producing more SCells.
However there a massive elephant in the room. Inorganic Pokemon also benefit from the Eviolite and lack "cells". But I don't have any models that let us see how an Inorganic operates so I cannot say for certain nor propose any ideas. For now.

>>
>>59626431
He actually does have brain damage from snorting Dexus stuff, it allows him to increase his psychic powers and commune with the evil god. Even someone as bone headed as he is realizes it's a bad idea. That and I don't think his Mega Ratticate having it's connection with him severed while she was mega'd helped.
Really the whole rob a police station and a war museum plan was kind of dumb, they get like two voltorbs are four artillery pieces out of the mess and only because they had Kadabra teleport them out last moment. Mind you ani-teleport things, called baffles, exist so that was just them getting lucky the MPs didn't have any baffles on hand.

Also I forgot to mention this, but two of the additional gambits adding to the pile up in the interlude are a Clefairy cult and Casca's dad trying to destroy a bridge. Steven even says that there has to be something in the fucking water, and considering that Dexus' body is on top of Mt. Moon I don't doubt him.

I'll paraphrase my DMs with the author
>(Megastones are) the remains of ancient bacteria (DNA-based life) that learned to live inside Pokémon, and, after death, became infused with bits of Dexus (pokemon satan Deoxys) himself by happenstance. With their unique biology, they were able to feed on one type of energy and transform it into another, and the stardust amplified that into the ability to transfer both types of energy at once, effectively making a 'perfect' version of the flawed clones Fuji and his pals made – so long as the two donor organisms remain sufficiently synced up.

>A specific stone only works on one species because that was the species the bacteria parasitized in life, and alternate stones are different strains that provide a subtly different energy flow. Artificial stones are cultures of forcibly evolved modern bacteria subjected to artificial fossilization, and they need radio waves to kickstart because it hasn't worked out the exact method to fuse them with the stardust, so they need to be impregnated by Dexus energy through use for a while before a natural, radio-free transformation can happen.

So any pokemon can be made into a mega with the right bacteria culture in an artificial stone. Not really how I imagine pokemon evolution, or Megaevolution works, but I'll explain that in another post since the topic came up up-thread.

>>
>>59626703
In my headcanon a Pokeball, when catching a Pokemon, writes some sort of unique ID based on stuff* on the critter. A conventional Pokeball being thrown at another already caught Pokemon would essentially read the same biosignature and just refuse to complete the process. A suitably villainous team with resources at their disposal could make their own Pokeballs that just don't bother with the handshake and capture it regardless, but it's kind of walking around with criminal evidence on your person.
>>
>>59626267
I imagine that a pokemon more or less has an organ, or something biological about them, that primes them for evolution and their whole multi-stage life. Like there's a genetic potential inside of them to evolve. Eviolite takes advantage of this process by essentially hijacking the normal process that stores energy for evolution and allows the pokemon to use it defensively by doing thing like making them heal faster.
But like the other guy had said, by the time they fully evolve, they don't have any potential for evolution left.

>>59626343
I imagine Mega Evolution works on the same principles, firstly when the stone is absorbed by the pokemon it adds a new genetic code programming for evolution. Then an influx of energy from the outside allow that potential evolution to be realized, which it normally can't since the fully evolved pokemon lacks the other parts necessary for the evoltuion.

Fitting with the theme of Hoshi hurting everyone he knows and loves in his quest to restore Kanto with the help of team Rocket, this arc he brutalizes his other Aunt he and Moony share as well as her husband, Huck. And he's still doing the:
>I'm doing this for Kanto, the veterans, and everyone!
Speech in his head as he kills pokemon, removes his aunt's fingers, smashes a veteran's face in, and brutalizes his family. The funny thing is people he's not related to don't get it nearly as bad. Which is a real shame as we also get Huck and Denju's backstory and they're really cute together. Also Hoshi is literally the end of his bloodline, his aunt is infertile and the other Aunt (whose fingers he broke), is too gay to ever touch a man. It's a bit of an even bigger shame both of them live, although Casca and Ryan also break her fingers even after shooting her. I hope she bleeds out. Sort of like Nerine, I like them so much and their deaths would hurt the main cast so much I kinda want to see them dead.
I sort of hope Hoshi is rendered infertile by the end of this just to twist the knife even more, having him be the one who drove his clan to extinction.

Although he does kill some non-family members, Kantonian Soldiers.

Anyways, of the team Ryan is freaking out since the MPs and Police are bringing out guns now and his Cyther got lit up like a christmas tree. Kenny isn't doing so good. Casca is probably regretting not forcing Hoshi to run earlier. Puce has at least admitted to herself she's a bad person who's weak, selfish, and pathetic.
Honestly she's kind of cute, which means she's definitely the type of character I'd hate if she was a guy. Oh yeah she and Nerine, have this whole twinsies thing where they give their pokemon the same name by accident because of how similar they are, Nerine just happens to be on the side of good, tries to be a better person, and is an actually competent trainer.
>>
Also I can't believe I missed it, but the Free the League people, their acronym is FTL, Faster than Light. Lol, I knew they were TR's mainstream wing but that's funny.

On another note, it looks like my guess about Silph CO. working with the Inner Ministry was correct, but I didn't think Koga would be working with them as well considering how they're obviously evil. Although the connection between Slyph Co. and the IM makes sense, Dr. Hypno worked with the Inner Ministry and Porygon-anonyms. Silph Co. created the Porygon in 1995, meaning that the Inner Ministry would have had access to them, so that's how Dr. Hyphno made his Porygon.EXEs. Silph Co. made the pokeballs which caused Clair to put in place her restrictive legislation, and the reason they didn't heel was because they were trying to make things worse. Even if that inadvertently caused the Hoenn-Sinnoh-Kanto-Johto alliance to strengthen, meaning they need to take over the country in one night or get invaded. So the Inner Ministry and Silph Co. also have a hand in his mother's death.

Of course the ministry has its own problems, turns out using a Masterball on Articuno while being an unworthy trainer gets you cursed. So that happened to their leader and wherever Ghetsis fuses the three birds together that times three will probably happen to him.Even them getting Hoshi who they plan to make in the messiah only seems like a bandage on the wounds as they and everyone else knock heads. They didn't even know Dexus wanted Mew, while Bill doesn't seem to have been let in all of his wife's plans, and she didn't know what everyone else was getting up to either.
>>
>>59627354
>>59627354
Oops. forgot pic.

Really it's a big shitshow. I still don't know what's made Hoshi special, the Inner Ministry guys even mention how one in every few thousand has high levels of stardust in their system like he does, but Hoshi has something that makes him even more special. So I'm sort of expecting a big revelation about Hoshi's mother since she's the only one here we don't know anything about, maybe she's Mewtwo?
The arc ends on all hell breaking loose anyhow.

During the beginning of Arc 13 we actually gets some confirmation of casualties, namely Articuno appearing in the center of Celadon's political area killed a bunch of people. While Bill brings out a suped up Ditto to counter, copying Articuno.

The authors says Arc 13 should be the last but I don't believe him. He's already gone 40K words over what he meant to write so he kind of has a track record of writing more than he means to.
Personally I expect another 1-to-3 arcs after 13.

this could add to certain things, like maybe the reason regional variants can evolve or can't is because the organ has evolved to be more dormant or active at a certain stage.

Perhaps some Pokemon like Tandemaus havd a special adaptation where having the young of their kind closeby makes said organ less active, and in the case of Maushold/Tandemaus specifically said organ is linked to its ability to reproduce and proliferate, but once they grow and Maushold can "devolve" and produce more offspring.

In a similar fashion, a mutated Shellder would either absorb the energy produced by said organ, which would explain Mega Slowbro, where while Mega Evolution causes the dormant organ to become more active and produce evolution-related energy, the mutated Shellder just drains it away which is why it expands further rather than any change from the Slowpoke.

Well it is also something the author has been playing with for awhile. Hoshi doesn't have a direct hand in Surge's death but is related to it. He broke Tsuyu's fingers and killed her pokemon. Following that example the same thing happened to his Aunt and Uncle, alongside both of them being shot.
Even with his extended friend group there's his Nerine, his hardass boss who cared for him, Goose the veteran.
All of which he has excused saying that if he wins his actions are justice. By saying to himself the Johtonians are planning something, all the while he refuses every outstretched hand that is trying to help him.
Now as the story reaches it's climax his justifications are being peeled away one-by-one. Dr. Hypno who he worked with is responsible for his mother's death, when he worked for Silph co/the Inner Ministryalthough Hoshi doesn't know that yet. Clair repelled the trainer licences legislation and is working with Steven to undermine Silph co. Even with Jessie and James getting their hands on the documents proving Team Rocket was thrown under the rug during the Indigo war that doesn't change the fact that 90% of the grievances with them are their continued terroristic actions, most of which are against their home country instead of Johto.

Team Rocket is already going to lose with the new Ghost-type elite 4 swarming the Inidgo League HQ with his ghosts and grabbing the rockets there, while the ones in Virdian City are being arrested right now. Hoshi being directly responsible for the death of his family would be the final step. He has no excuse and his actions were never justice.

I want to see Hoshi's spirit crushed and he be forced to come to terms with the reality of his actions. Actually getting arrested is a so-so thing in my book, I think the funniest ending would be Hoshi getting drafted into being a spook for the Indigo League.

>"What did you say?" Clair said warningly. I felt the pulse in the air clear as day, but some silly little dragon in human skin wasn't going to scare me.

>"I mean, I get it. Clair Wataru, basically the little sister of Lance... and inferior in every single way. I'd be seriously pissed off, too, if nothing I did could match up to a genuine freak of nature. Why couldn't I be that one in a million? Why did we have to be born in the same generation... why did we have to be cousins?"

>I watched with a winning smile as veins immediately formed on Clair's face.

>One thing you don't do around me is try to bully Jasmine.

>"What did you just say?" Her voice came out in a low growl, sounding almost as animalistic as the dragon's they raised. Clair clenched a fist; I did not doubt that she could probably bench double my body weight and more.

>Did I care? Well, ask Articuno if I did. You'd probably get flash frozen the moment it realized you were talking about me.

>"Your inferiority complex must have started when you were a kid. I know I'd have a lot to say to someone who needs to be repeated to, so those stuffy members of your clan must have been killing themselves when they had to repeat themselves constantly to you. You heard exactly what I said, so don't ask me to repeat myself," I drawled, friendly smile on my face as my daggerlike gaze stared her down.

>Her eyes flashed, and she immediately reached out, grabbing the scruff of my coat with a snarl. Like I predicted, she easily hoisted me up, forcing me to stare at her face.

>"Ah! W-Whitney, come help please!" Jasmine shouted, turning and banging on the door.

>"Watch your tone, child. I will not allow a novice to speak to me as if we are equals. Do not think that just because my cousin favors you, I will allow you to say what you wish," Clair spat.

>"Can't hear you over the sound of you drooling over your brother. Is it Wataru tradition to wear capes that stupid, or are you just following in his footsteps so that he can notice you? Bit freaky, don't you think?" I retorted.

>That seemed to do it. I watched in amusement as Clair raised a hand before I reached out. She let out a shout of surprise as I pinched a nerve that almost instantly made her collapse on her butt.

>Thanks, Janine.

>I touched the floor easily as she dropped me, dusting myself off as if I didn't just get hoisted off the ground by some Amazon of a woman.

>"Don't touch me, you 2nd-rate Wataru," I scolded, listening to Whitney and Jasmine's gasp of horror.

>Clair's eyes went bloodshot, sharp teeth bared as if she were going to tear into me. The gym leader lunged at me, only for a sheen of purple to wrap around her, halting her in place.

>"This is unbefitting of you, Gym Leader Clair. I would appreciate it if you did not attack my student. This is your only warning," Sabrina intoned emotionlessly.

I haven't seen a lot of slice of life but the first thing that jumps to mind is the Emiya cooking show anime. Which is a weird slice of life where instead of a murder game the characters all chill and eat food. Its like it actively removes the stakes from a concept with stakes.

The most important bit I wanna ask is the 'why' of your concept. What is it delivering? Even slice of life is providing something to the audience. Comedy, romance, warm fuzzy feeling. What are you pursuing?

Biologyfags can't explain how ability swap works
>>
>>59628402
Abilities are powered by Aura. Skill Swap/Entrainment/whatever messes with a pokemon's Auric signature.
>b-but biologically—
Aura comes from an organ in the brain, which accesses the Aura dimension.
>>
>>59628402
I can. Most ability swap mons are psychic, so they are using their psychic powers to temporarily alter the pokemon's biology.

Biologically explain Mold Breaker

So the fact that the baby Kangaskhan can Mega Evolve implies that being a baby is an entirely seperate concept from evolution and devolution right?

I guess it makes a bit of sense, considering that official material shows us baby Nidoran. These are outright Nidoran rather than a Nidoran prevolution.

Yet at the same time there are prevolutions referred to and meant to be Baby Pokemon and them evolving is meant to be seen as growing up. In fact, they very blatantly have no Egg Group to reflect the difference between sexual maturity and not.
>>
>>59628447
No need, everybody knows psychic powers are just mind magnets. That's why they are resisted by steel types.
>>
>>59628607
Simple. All pokemon abilities are a form of mold. Mold Breaker mons have anti-mold chemicals in their natural secretion.

It's not ACTUALLY telling a joke so bad the universe makes it start snowing. It's about replicating a state of mind in the user's brain (only psychics learn this move btw) that is what primes them to create the snow. However, the Slowking line can learn Snowscape regardless, so maybe it's the switching aspect of the move that's important. Maybe when in a depressive mood the Slowking species will teleport themselves to a safe place (inside of their pokeball), the same way Abra teleport to safety when threatened. A crafty trainer could have weaponized this fact to create the move.

Everything about a Faller is uncanny, like something trying to imitate a human.
Their hair and fingernails grow noticably faster, just a week passes and there is a visible stubble on males. They heal slower and injured more easily.
Their actions are more subdued. They control their emotions better than most and appear more calm. Even during extreme circumstances, they under react.
Despite that, their body never stops moving. Eyes twitch and dilate in response to light. They blink faster and more often. A Faller's chest constantly expands and contracts while their fingers tap and knees shake to some unknown rhythm.

I think I saw a video on that years ago, something about him being a good guy trying to stop Mewtwo? I thought it was lame, although I do see Giovanni as a character who became evil, motivated by jealousy, greed, and pride into becoming who we seem him as in RGBY.
But you're misremembering special, in the manga people having N-like powers is just something that happens, the entire E4 and Yellow have the same ability and it's a side effect of their birth.
He is briefly good when he teams up with Celebi, but the second the mythical cures him of his fatal illness he fucks off to be evil again. He even fucks with Deoxys and makes an evil army of the Deoxys twins from the manga.

I remember when people were stacking dlss5 on top of dlss5 to turn games into graphical abominations. There was one comment that stuck out to me, someone said that this resembled the whole hyper realistic shtick that creepypastas spammed without a care.
In this case I think it would be interesting to interpret 'hyper realism' with trying too hard.
Blood is too glossy and dark at the same time. It clots in weird ways.
MissingNo was used to clone items and pokemon right? Maybe in its attempt to appear realistic, it makes some mistakes in other ways. A potion stills weighs the same after being used because it doesn't account for the liquid inside being used up. A Charizard's flame burns at an inconsistent temperature because it only registers things like fire as 'hot'. Skinwalker stuff.
>>
>>59634475
Interestingly enough the whole hyper-realistic thing started with Squiward's Suicide, in which the term was used to describe those matte paintings from Spongebob, and/or those gross-ups.

Huh, I thought Celot just meant Ocelot since he's a kittykat appreciator- I wonder what he think's of the Litleo line?
I honestly viewed him before as sort of like Dante from DMC 3 (Like Pokémon, I have never played it and I don't even know what it is about really) but of course the hair slicked back (as well as a more brash look idk.)

Been sick as a dog the past few days and unable to write, so I’ll go first. I’m Pofag

Genderbent Hyde would’ve been absolutely wild to write. If obvious best girl wasn’t the endgame, I probably would’ve picked FemHyde. A lot of the arc 5-7 plots would’ve gotten moved around. FemHyde would be as bad to Ian if not worse in early arcs, but after him saving her ass and her realizing he literally keeps the town fed and could be doing literally ANYTHING else and be in a better posiition, she’d break a little and begruddgingly allow herself to view Ian as the “one good Unovan.” Obviously the revelation he’s a not real Unovan would completely shatter her and yearn for Isekai-jin dick. My whole plan for Hyde in Arcs 5-7 would have to be re-done involving one of my last big reveals I got. But FemHyde would absolutely have been entertaining. If I ever write another longfic I may try something like this.

Well considering I did write some Malfoid I feel uniquely qualified to answer this, but in Mahogany... well Rhys wouldn't like a genderswapped Clair for the same reason he dislikes Lance but would like a female Lance. He's a jealous little shit, overly passive, prideful, and s hypocrite. If you swapped Rhys than she'd hate all possible permutations except for male Clair who she'd be yearning for 24/7.

I fear that far too many people would ship Kuzey with Lonnibel if I went that route...

I'm actually not even sure how I'd write Celot as a woman, too much of his DNA is rooted in a very gendered variety of little shit kid brother energy. A certain dynamic that I haven't explored yet would probably wind up much more catty but I'm not certain she'd actually be all that different.

No comment on Oberon.
>>
>>59634926
It wouldn't change anything but I think it would be a little sadder because now it's about an aging starlet attempting to graft together an extra act to keep the show going.

FemLance flirting with Rhys only to piss off Clair would be funny to see Clair’s reaction to. Although that’d be about it. FemProton would be more interesting I reckon.
>>59635027
>ship Kuzey with Lonniebel
I could see Lonniebel being lightly flirtatious but ultimately resigned to not getting Kuzey (although she’d probably say things like “when this is all over and you’re 18, let’s talk”).
>>
>>59635109
>FemProton
I'm gonna guess you mean Petrel? I actually hadn't thought of it now, despite having thought of a potential older sister character for him, but now that you bring it up... well I think she'd have one-sided feelings for Rhys and dislike Clair, not for yandere reasons though.
Rhys and society in general can be kind of sexist towards women, and Inujinin, both in low-expectations and expecting them to rigidly fit within the roles they're assigned. So despite Petrel still being skilled and smart neither Rhys nor society would fault fem!Petrel for her placid attitude. That lack of expectation would mean she's generally more resentful of the people around her, instead of ignoring them. Rhys wouldn't fault her either, and would pity and acknowledge her instead. That would sort of spur Rhys to, in general, be less passive, but at the same time that overpowering sense of pity would prevent him from viewing her romantically even if he would go out of his way for her.
Then enter Clair who's stronger, more conventionally attractive, and has everything Petrel wants, on top of being an air-head who takes those things for granted.

Plot wise this transfers the loyalty Petrel would have towards Giovanni to Rhys, so things go off the rails pretty quickly.

Damn, distracting me from editing again. At least writing is going well.

I have a gender bending and pregnancy fetish, so I sometimes just write smut where a dude gets turned into a chick and knocked up. I actually have characters in the past who's whole schtick is going around fighting other dudes to turn them into chicks to add to his pregnant harem when he wins.

As for gender bending rivals/enemies in my fic... I can see it working for one character. It would actually make the love triangle even more hilarious because the rival getting cucked out of the MC's love interest instead leads to the love interest cucking the MC from her. Alternatively, MC now gets to knock up both of them.
>>

Actually, for some reason a female Celot made me think of an adult Jane from Crystal Light. Though I'm imagining a bit more sane and classy Jinx from League of Legends. She does have a Meowth.

I was just about to almost start writing the harry potter story I've been pondering for a couple months but it featured female draco malfoy and if people think I'm jumping on the bandwagon I'll die
So now I have no choice but to work on my pokemon story that I'm also somewhat close to almost starting...
I've already got the main characters thought up and everything! I just need to figure out things for them to actually do and reasons they would interact and whatnot but that's all easy stuff so it should be coming out soon™

I feel as if the more I try to think of a serious story the further I get from actually coming up with one whether I'm satisfied with or not so I think I'm going to give up on it and instead write something stupid and semi-episodic

Allow yourself to take things seriously if the story wants to be, anon. Not everything has to be “leh heckin’ ironic and shizz.” You can include plenty of intended funny moments (or have it be comedic in general), but just be genuine to what the story in your head wants to be. >>
>>59637569

>>
>>59637569
Nta but I figure there has to be some level of power fantasy involved in order to get larger engagment if you’re not doing a shipping or Ashfic (as retarded as that is in the fanfic community). Pokemon has a really good way of balancing power fantasy-vibes early on while also leaving room for exponential growth and development though: give the MC a powerful Pokemon in the first 10 chapters. There are still 5 more mons to improve upon so you have lots of runway, but the (more or less) average reader who’s looking for the more power fantasy aspects will still be placated. One thing I’ll say is great about the vocal part of the Pokemon fanbase is they actually got on me about using Sawsbuck in battles too much.

I was editing my novel sized fic tonight. Not sure how the page count jumped from 414 to 435 all of a sudden. Must've been something with the formatting when I started adding headers, page numbers, a table of contents, and a temp cover page with the title.

I only managed to cover about 40 pages though. There was a bunch of early stuff that just needed little adjustments here and there.
The tone of the story really does shift dramatically once my MC gets other characters to talk to.

KYS nigger, CL is comfy and competently put together and makes both elements fit well (granted, I've never even so much as touched something with Final Fantasy, but those foreign materials blend well with Pokémon). I will not tolerate this bullshit you subhuman.
To put it in more words; if you want a fic where the battles are neatly done, the setting and the characters are charming and you want the Pokémons to also have distinct personalities (in spite of the language barrier, which is also an interesting element to the fic. IMO does this really well too.) then Crystal Light is one to read through.
Don't you ever talk smack about CL without having read it you literal goblin.

I used to do periodic re-reads when I finished a chapter, but then life got in the way and it became either keep writing or I'll never get the story written.
Now that the first draft is fully written, I'm doing a full start-to-finish re-read. I'm trying to fix as many typos and grammar errors as I can find while adjusting the tense and tone so it all lines up properly. As well as making sure I don't have any continuity errors.

A prequel with two different major storylines (I think it’d have to be non-linear to make any sense). One starting with Keahi and her four Cinders attacking the Lake of the Sunne, Tapu Bulu and Island Alphas stopping them, but the Ultra Rift manifests. POVs go to different factions as things fall apart across Ula’Ula (Breon’s coma, nightmare re-awakening, Sinclair’s road to piracy, Nanu going into the Ultra Rift).

The other major storyline is too much of a spoiler to say now, but it’s basically Surge’s tragic backstory. Think Rogue One vibes Ends with him and his guys occupying the Hokulani Observatories.
>>
>>59638963
Filler movie where they stop in an Original City that's long been protected by a pair of supernaturally empowered Urshifu, and their little brother Kubfu. Kuzey, Herri, Mia, Daria and Enji befriend Kubfu and the local kids that have been playing with it in secret, just in time for the city to be attacked by a Dark Sorcerer named Nomraq leading an army of Shadow Pokemon who intends to steal the Scrolls of Darkness and Water to attain ultimate power for his evil Marshadow, kidnapping the kids.

While the adults fight off the Shadow Pokemon hordes, Daria and Jet battle Nomraq and Marshadow but are defeated, while the others split into teams and attempt to scale the Scrolls' respective Towers to attain them before Nomraq can. Kuzey, Kubfu and Herri manage to reach the Scroll of Water, while Mia and Enji reach the Scroll of Shadows - but Nomraq had attached sigils to them unknowingly, and dark magic turns Kubfu's brothers into Shadow Pokemon that attack them. Shugorei interves to battle Single Strike Urshifu while Rapid Strike nearly defeats Kuzey and Mia before Daria busts into the tower atop her Charizard Spiegel. They fight to a stalemate but cause an explosion that knocks Kuzey and Crest from the top of the tower - only to be caught by Celot, who happened to be vacationing in the town. As payback for screwing with his off time, he clears a path for Kuzey to get the Scrolls and Kubfu to Nomraq, where they do battle with Marshadow, who has the upper hand until, empowered by his bonds with his friends, Kubfu harnesses the power of BOTH scrolls, and utilizes both Styles to win.

In the aftermath, Kuzey and Co. say goodbye to their new friends and set off for their next destination, knowing they've made canon bonds that will definitely be acknowledged in future chapters.

Post-credits is Celot and the L's on a beach goofing off.

Actually, I just happened to find some early forgotten notes about Crystal Light that were different than my current plans. Specifically that Wol was going to have a Fearow on his team at one point, and that Chaos was originally going to be a Hoopa instead of Mewtwo before I decided to make most of the early story pokemon be Gen 1. And Garland was also going to have a Hydreigon and Dusknoir on his team.

For Crystal Light it would be an alternate timeline story where Garland never became corrupted and became the Warrior of Light instead of Wol. He'd meet many of the same people but the adventure would be very different. His travelling companions wouldn't be Sarah and Jane, and the 6 Pokemon of Light would also mostly be different. Charizard would replace Blastoise of course. It would actually be much more shonen battle fantasy with less drama since Garland is just like that.

For PokeNormal I actually have several ideas for Cases that don't fit in the main narrative. I've considered writing them as questionably canon side stories. I could definitely stretch out this one idea into a full movie. But I don't want to spoil it if I end up do writing it...
