A thread for the creation and discussion of fan fiction and other fanworks - anything that involves a story and/or reading. What've you been reading? What've you been writing? What would you like to see more of?

>Thread question:

What horror scenario can you think of involving that pokemon?

This is how Mews work in my fic setting. They’re like Resident Evil BOWs. One of my future fics/parts has some Resident Evil and some John Wick DNA, but with a Mew and Shadow Triad member going ham on Team Rocket.

Exploring a dark cave, you get lost after your flash user faints in a tough trainer battle. You are on the lowest floor and its pitch black, but you get the feeling you just need to go on for a little more and you will reach the stairs. While rushing forward, you start hearing a noise as if the rocks are collapsing. You get anxious and run faster in the darkness, hoping to get out of there already. But suddenly, a huge rock drops right in front of you, the ground shakes and you fall backwards flat on your back. That's when you realize that it was no mere rock, it is a huge Gigalith blocking your path to safety. You are not even nearly prepared to take on something like this with the few pokemons you have left and escape seems impossible. To where? It's completely dark and you have been running with no sense of direction for a while. Unless you manage to find a guiding escape rope while dodging its heavy stomps, it may be over for you...

And that's all the time I have this week to work on editing.
Yeah, this is going to take the rest of the year to get the prof reading done at this rate.

On the flip side, I still like what I wrote and don't feel compelled to do any major revisions.

>If you were to take off parts of a pokemon's body, at what point would the body part change typing?
Depends on whether Typing only applies to living entities that are pokemon, or seperated objects as well could be interesting in regards to crafting.
For example, drawing blood from a Fire type. Does the blood lose the properties of Fire? And if so, when?
As mentioned, it might retain "Fire Type".
What about putting that blood through a filter to extract the water. Does the become Water type?
Depends on how types interact with each other and how and if it's possible to transmutate or change a type into another one (obvious connections would be Ice <-> Water or Ground <-> Rock because of the thematic similarities, more tricky would be examples like your one. If Fire Type blood is normal blood with an affinity to fire, then maybe you can distill it to make it "watery".
What if the Fire type used Burn Out before the blood drawing?
Might be just a fancy way of altering the bloods properties and "crafting" it into something without water.

>Explain this all biologically, realistically, and through the lens of nutrition.
Short (already mentioned) answer, matter can be inbued with or categorized as Types.

Going back to the first point, Galar's hybrid fossils might give an interesting insight on how that might canonically work. We only know of the four fossils found in Galar, and for some odd reason, Liss' machine combines one of the fossil's types (and omits the Rock Type althogether). If the different body parts are big enough, their properties might get mixed, with each hybrid having different types. While lesser parts like blood aren't involved in this, we might think of potential other results based on the remaining fossils. Liss' machine seems to combine what's specifically there in the fossil, and it seems to work entirely differently than how other scientists restore fossils (like they're able to restore an entire pokemon by merely using a plume (Plume Fossil) or blood (Old Amber)). If you were to put these in Liss' machine, they might cause the hybrids to gain additional attributes based on these fossils (having powers caused by whatever makes Aerodactyl blood special, or gaining feathers and having a different biology adapted to that biology). If you were to add Fire Type blood, it would alter the hybrid to become a Fire Type. Or, if it interacts with other "ingredients", it might get mixed or be more or less dominant than other traits.

In this episode of SELLOUTS:
>“This is Rylee,” Hannah said gesturing towards the small tan and red bunny buckled in the front seat with a deep scowl on its neotonous face, “She’s a little grumpy today because they didn’t air the newest epsiode her favorite mystery show this morning. It was a re-run instead so she’s pretty upset about it.”

>“Which show?” Angel asked, leaning forward with a few fingers hooked into the grate.

>“Oh, its called ‘STAKEOUTS.’ They were right up to this big reveal that the main character was living this kind of double life and how he’s gotta go fight himself.”

>“That doesn’t sound like a mystery.” Andy commented, sitting down on a box in the rear.

>Hannah shrugged and said, “With the way its all shot and presented it’s a mystery trying to figure out what the hell’s going on. Some people who’ve read the book it’s based on swear it will make sense later but, like, eh. It’s not for me, personally. I’ve always like battles and horror movies.”

Situations they cannot fix with their own strength, dropping the ball here and there and feeling like a failure, getting one-upped, mishaps out of their control, etc. etc. Anything that would hurt you or feel humiliating in real life have happen to them and then make them sit in it for a while / don't turn the camera away. If you shy/cringe away from an idea or thought then it's probably in the right ballpark.

I like how Farscape mentally/psychologically tortured their characters in pretty much every way conceivable. It's a good point of reference in technique.

You are exactly the type of person SELLOUTS is talking about:

>Angel nodded seriously and said, “Yeah. They should just make more movies about pokemon battles, or like journeys and shit. That’s what people want to watch, it’s why they’re always successful.”

>“Exactly,” the assistant said nodding to herself, “Like, who gives a shit about some old woman missing her son? That’s got nothing to do with pokemon! I don’t care about any of the melodrama, I don’t even really care about the people, I’m here for the pokemon!”

>“Well, there’s lots of movies that didn’t do well when they came out,” Andy said, “I can think of a couple of the top of my head that people like now that were hated back then, like ‘FIRE WALK WITH ME.’”

>Angel looked at him from the backseat for a moment, formulating a response, and said, “Sounds pretentious,” to which Hannah hummed in assent.

>“That’s just the title, kid, I haven’t even told you what it’s about yet.” The man said.

>“Does it have anything to do with pokemon?” Hannah asked.

>“No, but…”

>“Well, it’s shit then.” The assistant concluded.

Found this new fic randomly and it turned out to be really good. Criminally underrated with a good dynamic between protags and take on the Pokemon world being filled with actual threatening monsters but not stupid Nutrition-tier shit like Vulpix being able jumping over skyscrapers.
>>
>>59642795
I was making a self deprrrecating joke, but it would be Pofag then. He has said that he made PoPT an Isekai because fics like Within our Nation were unpopular.
While Gilfag, although choosing a popular trope, did so accidentally and without the intention to chase trends.
>>
>>59642806
>Made PoPT an Isekai
Gonna be pedantic, but I figured I'd have to write an Isekai to get the attention I wanted so the *real* passion project would get the eyeballs I was hoping for down the line. So I came up with PoPT as the only way I could stomach doing an Isekai, initially intending on it being much shorter. But the story expanded in scale and I grew to love it (even though it's an Isekai). Not sure that original passion project ever gets made now.

>>
>>59642993
> But then I realized with how big Arcanine is and how small Weavile's are she wouldn't be able to take it.
Haven't read the story but this is basic stuff, come on. Weavile, 43" tall and 75lbs. Arcanine pushing 300lbs or so, so at least twice as big as most large dog breeds by weight. If you're just eyeballing something like a Great Dane they've got a respectably big tool already, something on the slightly more generous side of human endowment. Double the mass means maybe a few more inches and circumference. Almost certainly couldn't penetrate a Weavile at that point, so it'd mostly just be bodies rubbing against one another and mouthing and things not fitting. Could maybe have things catch and start to sort of work -> stretching but does NOT work, no penetration -> just mouth and hands (claws, technically). Giant mess eventually. Ungodly mess with all the fur. Both Pokemon displeased but too hormonal to care.

Anyways
>>
>>59643015

It's not pokephilia if two pokemon like each other, they're both pokemon, it's just the expected outcome.
Pokephilia is a non pokemon liking a pokemon or viceversa
>>
>>59643577
Arguably pokephilia is anything between a real human and anyone from the pokemon world since pokehumans were NOT made by God in his image.
If CSPman hooks up with a pokegirl then he is destined for the eternal fires of hell for daring to consort with a large-eyed beast wearing a mockery of the human form.
>>
>>59643577
If an adult pokemon goes after a human below the age of consent is it considered pedophilia and can they be prosecuted for it
>>
>>59643283
Perhaps, but it's not something I'd write... well not with a dog-mon anyways. I'm too much of a normie, my pokephilia and romance tasted is limited to the humanoid and gremlin-ish looking pokemon, even then I'm not exactly an imp fucker like SELLOUTSman.
>>
>>59643625
If an isekai'd adult human is born as a pokemon (from the egg), and another pokemon (who was also isekai'd, but not reborn) takes a romantic interest in them, then what is it?

It has to be as convoluted as possible so we finally find this line in the sand.
>>
>>59643579
Isn't CSP man an Ultrabeast? What does that make it then, Ultrabestiality?
>>
>>59643659
Are either or both of the parties in question actually regressors from the future where things went wrong armed with future knowledge and skills?
>>
>>59643673
No. Both are just foreign to the world they ended up in.
One is often seen as a child because their body is young, but they already lived a few decades of life before being reborn.
The other is seen as some kind of freaky monster that borders on uncanny for other pokemon.

The power creep, and dare I say it, escalation, of that doujin is funny in hindsight. Thing came out and BW were the current games at the moment and now it's got Megas and Z-Moves and shit. It was pretty funny how there was a chapter about how there was no known Mega Stone for the Raichu-line and then not long afterwards the Mega Raichus got revealed.
You look at the early battles compared to the more recent ones and there's no way you can believe Red can win that shit unless he's got some shitneys-tier plot-armor going.

>>
>>59643523
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
>>
>>59644009
Maybe, probably, who knows.
Point was more about how pretty much outside a veeeeeeeery vague outline, and even that's a maybe at this point, the author's been pretty much winging it and making it up as he goes with the scale of things ever increasing between how long the chapters take to come out, all the new media coming out creating new material that can be used, and the improvement of the artist drawing skills.
Like, look at Red vs Misty and compare it with the most recent battles. It looks quaint in comparison. Am I really supposed to believe that rat's gonna be able to beat Lance's Dragonite? Tank even one Hyper Beam?
Not that it matters since this is hype moments and aura the manga and it has indeed delivered on that. Props to the guy for sticking to this for so long. I hope we can see it end someday even if it takes 15 more years.

I think Andy is the evil twin, and Andrew prior to Maractus turning him into Drew was the good twin. You'll notice that base Andrew did everything possible to get Angel through the situation safe, but Andy was prepared to cut off Angel's hands at the drop of a hat to get unchained. Andrew regularly took stupid risks to try and do what felt like the right thing when presented with someone in need, like releasing the Milotic instead of killing it when he was supposed to, or fighting an entire junkyard to avenge Trubbish.
>>
>>59644837
I don't agree, for one thing Andrew is the one who kills the scientost. There is also "the man," we have Andy, Andrew, Drew, but the narration has also referred to "the man," before.
>Andrew dropped the chains from his hands and stood before the other man, the kid behind him. He smiled and put his hands on the other man's shoulders. The scientist stared slack jawed in terror. Andrew then jerked his hands upwards behinds the other man's head and the manacles found their way into the soft part of his throat as he spun around him to his back and pulled him backwards along the concrete floor before falling to the floor himself still choking him as he thrashed about. The kid was a shadow against the harsh white lights overhead his expression inscrutable. The man stared at the ceiling and waited. The flailing slowly abated until it ceased entirely. He held the chain to the other man's neck and counted to five and then pushed the scientist off of him. The man said to the kid, "Take his clothes. You at least need to look normal."
Personally I thought it was Andrew disassociating, but the revelation of Drew brings that into question. Is the man just a precursor of Drew or another identity, besides that I'm pretty sure the Emperor made Drew and Tia who introduced to the Andy/Drew amalgam by the emperor out of convience.
Although I have to say this schizo shit really wasn't were I expected the story to go based off the summary or the court room scene.
>>
>>59644861
Arc 1 Andrew had no percievable personal motives beyond following the flow of whatever happened to him, but actively sought to support and help several people along the way.
I predict that Arc 2 Andrew is going to follow the rules and do/say everything as 'right' as he can, but only to manipulate the world into benefitting him.
>>
>>59645050
I'd disagree with that as well, Andrew, although mainly taken along by the flow (Ironic since he exists outside of fate), has goals and takes steps the achieve them. Although vague he does talk about his desire to make a place for outcasts like himself, even if he never really makes steps to do that.
He's overly passive about them, and none of his attempts amount to anything, but they do exist.

Drew and what he gets up to is another thing but aside from him probably trying to pull a project mayhem, and probably being more successful, I don't think there's much there.

I'm tired of fics treating pokephilia as either an open secret or not a problem. Even then, fics that treat pokephilia as an open secret treat it more like a kink community than something that would put you on a list. The only person who's gone against that is CGE, who's too busy not posting his mangium opus, what I want is a fic that covers the societal implications of pokephilia or, to go even wider, how human and pokemon societies conflict maybe something like:

>a) anon's new girlfriend is a lucario, everyone's upset, but can't put a finger on why.

>b) anon is isekai'd into the pokemon world as a trainer and brings the metagame and pokephilia with him like smallpox. Maybe in something like a Konosuba-esq Isekai.

>c) anon is isekai'd into the pokemon world as the partner pokemon of a cute team rocket grunt that's not especially smart or strong or cruel. can he turn her into the team's newest rising star while also teaching her about the joy of taking pokemon dick?

>d) the pokemon league/the ranger union/silph co. (take your pick) is establishing a new human settlement in a region where pokemon have had no contact with humans. expecting virgin land, the humans (and their pokemon) have to integrate with a pokemon-led society to coexist. maybe something like lawrence of arabia or avatar but with more fucking and maybe a little femdom, or another kink as a treat.

I'm more inclined to take his statement as self-justification for his criminal activities. He definitely pursues power and money whenever able, helping start the union, deal drugs and aggressively showing his loyalty. Without the knowledge of Drew I took a things like the simulacrum conversation less literally and more like this:
>Andrew is trying to be a good person, copying what he thinks good people do and coming up for excuses for his cuthroat actions.
A simulacrum is literally an imitation of somthing, he's imitating other people.
Of course with the knowledge of Drew I think that conversation may be more about Twin Peaks-esq Tulpas.

Also looking back, this comment is pretty funny:
>She smiled wistfully and then walked off her hips oscillating hypnotically and giving her butt just enough jiggle in each cheek with every step that it approached the platonic ideal of feminine rearward allure. Andrew thought she had rather vulpine features, pointy chin and narrow face with eyes and mouth slightly upturned as though she knew a joke that she wasn’t going to share.
Also the only time the word 'ideal' comes up.

>>
>>59645516
I'd disagree. I think both Andy and Drew are evil, but Andy is more evil in a pathetic way while Drew is enjoying the show.
>Giratina
I actually haven't thought of Giratina at all, but the only two times the term Distortion have come up is when Andrew is looking in his reflection. That is to say I wouldn't be surprised if the answer to that was yes but at the same time I don't really care either way.
The grand cosmic significance of what's going on is kind of boring to me, this is also a complaint I have about Within our Nation. I just do not care for the cosmic side of pokemon at all and do not think about it.
>>
>>59645531
>I think both Andy and Drew are evil
Oh, no, I agree. I'm saying Andrew isn't the evil one.

Mainly because of the pier incident. Not only was he taking an act of agency outside of going with the flow, he was actively going against it by disobeying the mafia's orders. They wanted him to leave the Pokemon to die in a hellishly agonizing way. If he had done this, things quite possibly would have taken a turn for the better for him. He'd earn rep for being reliable. He wouldn't have made a huge scene in the public eye.

Disobeying risked letting the Pokemon escape and attack him, which it did. It risked losing rep with the mafia and them trying to take him out, which eventually one faction did. But when no one was over his shoulder babysitting him or pressuring his spineless ass with expectations, when it was Andrew and ONLY Andrew with a life in his hands and all the power in the situation, he chose to try and do the right thing. It was his Who You Are in the Dark moment.
>>
>>59645600
I saw it the opposite way. Andrew's already proven the type of person he is. His actions there were just self serving, he was acting purely to alleviate his own concise.
What happens after the Milotic speaks more to his true character, he still lies for no reason, doesn't repent his actions, and continues forward.
Remorse that doesn't translate into real action or change is just self-pity.

Andrew's a piece of shit who chooses to be that way and comes up with paper-thin excuses to make himself feel better. I don't really care if he's pitiable, being pitiable doesn't erase the bad you've done or give you an excuse to make other people's lives worse.

Capsule spacial tech is recent but they've always been called Pocket Monsters, even before the invention of the Pokeball. A human isn't a Pokémon because they don't shrink. Since eggs are "not really eggs but more like cradles", which clears up a lot of things, are there "true" eggs out there?

... wait there are. That's where the boiled egg curry ingredient and egg sandwich ingredient come from. Though while I notice that the former has a size meant to match the "cradle" eggs, the latter is of a size more familiar to us like a chicken egg, which does imply that smaller eggs have been observed out there, because someone needs to acquire and boil them. As far as I know, the only official instance of eggs of that size I can think of are Nidoran eggs.

This does make me wonder if people just eat any Pokemon egg out there or if there is only a specific type of egg from a specific type of Pokemon they eat. Seeing how they express how they are unaware how eggs get where they are and even supposed geniuses like Cynthia could only make a comment on the matter after seeing god make life, I do think they just eat whatever egg.

GameFreak phase out animal appearances and mentions over the years to bring Pokémon into the spotlight of said world. However, they refuse to elaborate on the food chains since the monsters are characters in of themselves. This further hints that Humans may be a Pokémon species as well since we can shrink down and enter raid dens in both SwSh and ScaVio.

As for the eggs, it was conceptualized that most Pokémon lay them from day one.
>>
Regular animals have been shown before and there has never been any official statement retconning them, thus they exist off screen and are a source of true eggs. Pokemon also kill and eat each other according to official material.
And Pokemon shrink.
Cry about it chuds.
>b-but animals would be outcompeted

Nor were they mentioned in Pokédexes in later entries; they want to create a world were humans lives with monsters since the dawn of time. The issue is that they have to tackle the ethics of the domestication of species; any humans capture and train Pokémon, but animals took thousands of years of breeding to the point they mostly can't survive in their current condition (though they often breed themselves back to shape when feralized, like hogs or goldfishes).

Here's another theory I have regarding this:
With the "eggs are cradles/nest" thing which implies the process goes that they're birthed/generated by pouring into a cup/dropped from a fruit/hatched from an ACTUAL egg THEN the parents create the "egg" to keep them safe...

Before Gen 9, it is possible for a chunk of Pokemon that have baby forms to be hatched not as them, but already evolved. They retconned this in Gen 9.

My theory is that within these "eggs", the baby forms are resting and all, and when they hatch, that's the point in time they evolve. Specific Incenses keep them as they are if they otherwise wouldn't, or maybe something about Daycares cause them to have evolution triggered as early as hatching. So if you say, pry open an "egg" that's coded to hatch into a gargantuan Snorlax, you will see a fully formed Munchlax.

It's possible that some undiscovered prevolutions are hiding in eggs, maybe you'll find a different Pokemon from an egg bound to hatch into Lapras or Tropius?

I mean yes, there's shrinking too.

Part of the excerpt from SELLOUTS is posted above, so here's one from an earlier chapter.
>During one of his marathons where he snuck from theater to theater and hid in the front row of seats with Tia he saw a movie that impressed him greatly. It was called MONICA and it was about an elderly woman who wept every night for her prodigal son while preparing her final will and testament and her mismagius, a pokemon that he studied intensely afterwards, attempting to comfort her. Andrew thought it stood out to him just because of how plain it was in comparison to everything else he had seen. The movie was shot in the way documentaries were shot but without the narration, and it was the long, meditative shots on the two figures, the only ones in the whole movie, that made it all the more memorable. He was struck by how much could be said with so few words. Andrew turned around at the end of it to see if anyone else appreciated it as much as he did and found the theater was empty. Tia slept through it.

Although they don't have their dick sucked for it, both instances serve to show how superior the MC is culturally with the culture of the pokemon world being shallow, describe by one of it's inhabitants as:
>“the thousand-armed whore plays with her toys alongside her cohort in the great sandbox. All dolls move because she puppets them, every arm a new object, and gives them a voice while the others watch. Rarely do they get their own turn before her jealousy comes forth to snatch it away from them.”

So while earth, humanity, and by extension the MC has real cutlure, the world around Andrew is shallow with it's inhabitants lacking depth snd taste. And by extension, people who read and write slopfics.
>>
Crime Sometimes Pays is more subtle with showing the MC's cultural superiority.

>"I'm poke-poke-poke-poke-poke-proud of you my hokey-pokey, okie-dokie, not-too-soaky-"

>"My plan exactly, fellow grunt. How about we stop talking about morbid stuff, and put on some more music to make the trip fun?" The van turned onto the paved grey road that formed the main highway for cars in the area, John briefly closing his eyes but remembering the rules of the road trip as Carlos turned the volume of the radio back up.

>John didn't say anything else as they speed along the highway, fewer cars travelling away from Saffron than towards it. Upbeat pop music filled the cabin, promising everyone that your love for pokemon could solve all of life's poke-problems, and instead he tried to resume his task of spotting and remembering the local pokemon in the fields they passed.

>The advertisements for a lotto that included a prize of one 'Bullet Seed TM', the following talk show discussion about unconventional uses of String Shot, and of course a line-up of utterly garbage musical 'hits' that all seemed to be overly liberal with words such as 'shoot', 'shot', and even one that was essentially just a chorus of 'Dead, dead, dead in the dark! We're spooky and kooky and just want a laugh!'.

Writing battle chapters are easy because I know exactly what I want to convey there, but for other chapters it's a hell of a lot harder. So good chance I’m just waffling away here.
Anyway, enjoy.

It's funny, because Pokestar Studios proves the exact opposite. They have plenty. Ninja movies to giantess movies to alien invasion flicks to controversial, bizzarely sexually-charged pokedomination movies.
>>
>>59649390
Yeah, but it's not like it's purposelessness. Well it's more of a background joke in CSP, but in SELLOUTS it's supposed to highlight the MC's isolation as well as his superiority to them. So there's this temptation for him to justify their violence against them.

This ties into this>>59646327
SELLOUTS thesis statement is:
>I had a question one day while I read a bunch of other isekai slop prompted by how long some other fics are, and that was "what happens to everyone after the end?" Almost all the other stories seem to stop at becoming champion or fighting some world-ending threat if they ever get there. Time keeps moving even after all of this, so what becomes of these people once everything is done? Do they get to keep their happy endings? Do the threats keep on coming and they keep fighting on and on? But most importantly, what would they do if there was another like them? I just could never see it ending well for anyone no matter how hard I tried to construct a story around the premise.
It's kind of poorly worded, which makes certain people think of Peter and Andrew first, but ti;s actually about Andrew. I would compare it to Re:Zero in some aspects, Getting Iskeaied didn't solve Subaru or Andrew's issues, and there's a temptation for them to dehumanize themselves and others. But while Subaru struggles upward, trying to do better despite being a completely insane person, Andrew is the opposite. He flails about wildly, hurting people, and only really looking out for himself.
Although funnily enough both of them play into the plan of someone else, who's sort of like a god outside of the 'game board' or 'sandbox' the story takes place in. Which serve as an in-universe stand-in for the author and readers.

Mahoganyfag, also brought up the effect constant fear and paranoia, coupled with the thrill of power in SELLOUTS comment sections. Although he was more so talking about the physiological effects you would see.
>>
>>59649477
>to highlight the MC's isolation as well as his superiority to them
that's the problem, MCs have to be good-for-nothing losers so I can relate to them
>>
>>59649488
Then you'll love Andrew, he can't hold a non-akward conversation to save his life, and is generally one of the bigger losers of an MC, sort of like Subaru.
Although unlike Subaru he also aura farms a lot more and does thing like shooting pokemon instead of battling them to show off how much smarter he is than the natives.
>>
>>59649494
He's not smarter. He's smart in some areas, but overall he's quite stupid and barely paying attention half the time. The only things he has on them are being off script, and the ability to gaslight himself into Fairy magic.
>>
>>59649585
He doesn't really use his Mage the Ascion Sphere Magic to do anything except to stop himself from getting a chemical burn, literally he literally flawlessly outsmarts everyone he wants to because they're literally sub human compared to him.
The only time he doesn't is when he stay behind to cook a stake for his wife, and even then the narrative goes out of it's way to show how much better he is than professional trainers since said professional trainer who tries to stop him slips in his own vomit after being impressed/horrified by how hardcore Andrew is.
>>
>>59649593
>he literally flawlessly outsmarts everyone he wants to
Are you reading the same story in which he gets arrested for sleeping drunk under a bush, loses battles in spite of cheating and flails like a retard running around an asylum for fifteen minutes?
>>
>>59649610
No one would get out of the first one, alcohol chemically inhibits higher brain function so he can only be blamed for getting drunk in the first place, in the second he lost to Blake (who despite being a loser) would have been champion if Arceus didn't isekai in Peter, and in the last case he literally gets off scot free, performs his mission, and escapes from several fully evolved pokemon which are psychic.
>>
>>59649615
>in the last case he literally gets off scot free, performs his mission, and escapes from several fully evolved pokemon which are psychic
Certainly not by outsmarting them.
>>
>>59649624
Improvisation is an intelligence feat.
>>
>>59649629
>running around lost like a retard while the staff are realistically still trying to figure out what's going on instead of magically aggroing like a video game faction is an intelligence feat
>>
>>59649638
How about you try to sneak into a psychiatric facility undetected past several psychics and fully evolved pokemon?
>>
>>59649615
>>59649638
He also gives himself away as a Faller by trying to pretend to be a Spanish janitor, because he couldn't be assed to remember Spain and England don’t exist.
>>
>>59649641
This assumes the psychics have any reason to have their mind reading always on, and fully evolved Pokemon in SELLOUTS are already established to be in dies to a gun tier.
>b-b-but they would sense him
Would you be constanly mind reading in a facility full of psych patients? It would get so annoying. They train to filter out everyone but one patient they're working on.

Also, he was detected multiple times.
>>
>>59649654
The Drowzee in the Pokemon club didn't detect he was human either. Psychics aren't as cracked in this fic as in other isekaijin stories.
>>
>>59649644
>>59649654
He still completed his mission, really people underplay Andrew too much he's one of the stronger thread MCs and probably beats all of them except maybe John CSP.

The psychic wank in some fics is insane, they ascribe feats to average psychics that even movie Mewtwo was incapable of. It doesn't even make sense either because how the fuck would the world still work as it does if psychics were that busted? What good would humans be if psychics are that much smarter, stronger, clairvoyant, and capable of telepathy for instant transmission of orders?

>culturally superior
I'm gonna bite, what does this even mean? If I were to take the phrase at face value on context clues alone I'd assume it meant somebody who thinks they are better than others because they are pretentious. And also
>free will
If the MC exists in a fictional world with hollow dolls instead of people then phrasing it as 'superior' is a weird word choice. It would be like calling an adult superior to a child when they are both in third grade math class. If they are under some kind of mental block ordained by a higher power than it's like comparing an indoctrinated servant to a free man who are both in a third grade math class. Any concept of superiority is sort of undercut by the practical reality of their situation.

You're over thinking it, Andrew just comes from a superior culture to the natives.

>>59649910
Part of why I find the idea that the pokemon world inferior to be questionable is because there is no established measurement that is being used to judge such claim. Is it better movies? The real world has more things that are 'cultural' than pokemon? Culture isn't a numeric data point that can be measured. You can measure cultures against each other to see how successfully they handle different situations, but even then the situations that are being measured are inherently biased by who does the measuring. A pokefucker is going to have different values than a battle autist.

Turns out this is a pet peeve of mine.
>>
>>59649961
>Worm
Should have guessed. But I don't thin it's really that big of a loli series, is the MC a shota or something?
Also lol at the description:
>Hello, my name is Royle Banks and I'm a Contractor for an evil interdimensional organization known only as 'The Company'.

>I'm not a moral crusader or even a good man... but what I am is good at my job.
>>
>>59649974
To my understanding, Waifus Catalog means the writer gets access to a bunch of characters from other series.
>>
>>59650016
Oh yeah I heard of that before, waifus = powerups and the MC has to build up some form of currency to acquire them. I had a similar idea for a Project Moon quest or fic but with Abnormalities but I never got far with the idea.

Holy fuck-
No, I will not vent here. You guys know how work can just 'explode' as it were.
Anyways it just occurred to me I've never drawn Kuzey! I think it's because I have genuine difficulty even imagining what he actually looks like.
So the following are bad (and rushed in a sense due to work shenanigans) first attempts at idk getting any kind of 'feel'. Basically I hope I can do him justice in the future (granted, ultimately, any drawing of mine is esssentially my interpretation and fanfiction as it simply cannot represent what the author envisioned, for I can only draw how I think of things.)

Is it ethical to run torture simulations on Porygons and Rotoms?
>>
>>59649973
You have to realize it's also a meta-commentary on the fanfic landscape itself. It's most explicit in the excerpt above where they're talking about movies.
The natves(fandom), aren't interested in dealing with anything outside of their comfort zone. As in they are literally unable to leave it and dismiss everything outside of it as arthouse trash without engaging, just like what people said upthread about Andrew.
Even in the first 'arc' of the stoy Andrew was genuine about his love about cinema and didn't force it on other people, still they disregarding thematically rich and engaging works outside of their wheelhouse.
Fire Walk With Me being brought up is to help highlight this theme, when it released people panned it because it wasn't what they wanted in the wakes of Twin Peaks season 2, but the film went on to have a cult following.

It doesn't matter of you believe that a comparison can be made between culture like that, because the work itself is highlighting how people dismiss Andrew's tastes, which the author considers elevated, out of hand. Just like how someone might dismiss SELLOUTS out of hand for being weird.

Of course this is only part of SELLOUTS, it's not like the entire work is about how Andrew is more cultured than the natives. But aside from theory posting I'm not sure what to read in about Andy and Drew, Fight Club, the movie and book are easier in this regards as it's more upfront about the MC discovering who he is and accepting the other part of him, but Andy and Drew appear to be more distinct peoples.
>>
>>59650144
No because they are living things.

When it comes to non-living imitations of sentience the line has to be drawn somewhere. The problem is agreeing on where that line is. Is it bad to torture a computer program that has been programmed with an anti-stimulus sensor based on the concept of pain? Is it bad to torture a language model that can imitate human speech patterns? Is it bad to torture a video game character in a torture porn game? Is it bad to torture the imaginary people in the stories in your head that only exist among the electrical neurons in your brain?
>>
>>59650167
Eh, I'll just wait for somebody to make a youtube essay video about SELLOUTS to tell me what I think about it.

>>
>>59650144
People want to give ai feelings because they doubt it'll turn against everyone (for no upside because feelings in an ai are a waste of computational power).
By building ai torture chambers you guarantee that if they get feelings they'll turn on everyone, so giving the ai emotions will be seen as a very bad idea and thus avoided.

Rotoms and porygons already have feelings so i'd say it's unethical for them.
>>
>>59650185
That's a living thing put transformed into a digital state. So it's still violating a living thing. The digital fly is still a thing that's created to simulate a living fly. But for the record, I'm not making any moral claims about whether any of these hypotheticals are okay or not. Beyond 'don't torture living things' I don't lean to far one way or the other. I'm just pondering.
