Ymir is truckin along baybee https://github.com/StrikerX3/Ymir/releases
>>11976850CH(u)D support already makes it a winner.
>>11976905Doesn't beetle Saturn support it? or are we just talking standalones
>>11976908Yeah, Beetle is the winner overall if we aren't strictly talking standalones. However, I have a feeling Ymir might be something special one day. If it ends up supporting uprendering, it'll have a HUGE advantage over Yaba Sanshiro.
>>11976912Ymir will be promising if gets a dynarec and hardware-accelerared graphics while.
>>11976905This.If you're emulating with things like mediocre and small micro SD cards, this sort of compact format is a life saver.
>>11976912Ymir dev is working with the MiSTer dev and a guy who is making a ton of new real hardware tests, filling and targeting a load of the Saturn's knowledge gaps. The MiSTer core has already implemented everything and is amazing, Ymir will get there in time too. I think in a year of so no one will be recommending Mednafen anymore.
>>11977536>a guyThis guy, Ymir and the MiSTer core owe them a LOT.https://github.com/celeriyacon
Is the wiki down?

>>11977495When will retarded CHDs be abolished? Are MAME devs all autistic?
>>11976836Here's some ME trivia for you: Magic Engine had an archaic and over engineered copy-protection. When registered, customer would receive a keyfile which contained his name, serial and part of the program all encrypted. So, when you run MagicEngine, it decrypts keyfile, checks serial against a blacklist and then executes part of its content as x86 program. Why old keyfiles didn't work with next versions of ME, is because author kept adding them to this blacklist and he was quite vigilant about it seemingly monitoring forums, IRC channels, Usenet, etc. This copy protection would have been quite effective, if it would be difficult to obtain keyfiles, since you would be unable to recreate the code that executes as a part of the program. But obviously, with the advancement of internet those key files kept going around and author was essentially fighting a tidal wave. So to defeat the copy protection, all you had to do was get whatever old keyfile and alter the black list check routine.PICO8 is almost an emulator. Same as Magic Engine it goes for $15. but has zero copy protection. Everyone pirates it, there are even recreations on github but author doesn't waste his time chasing after every illegal copy for which he is a happier man with more hair on his head.
>>11977661Why do you like file bloat so much?
Has anyone had any experience emulating the Saturn's lightgun with the mouse? I'm having calibration issues with House of the Dead using Mednafen, pic related, when I calibrate pixel perfect in the center the gun ends up off the further I get from the center (see bullet hole not being on the crosshair).Any way to fix this?
>>11977953Quoting to read this shit tomorrow as I am too drunk now. Also, if anyone has the time to answer, what is the best Saturn stand-alone at the moment, and if you are running DS4 on Win11 and the actual DS4 controller is working well, will introducing a Dual Sense fuk things up and create complications? Should I stick to DS4 only, or can I use both at the same time easily?
>>11977495>>11977661>having the same thing take up less space is bad because uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh/vr/oids will complain about anything
>>11976836Magic Engine was one of the most soulful emulator.
>>11979191False, the dev never released the holo-boob skin he was planning.
I've been trying for HOURS to get ParaLLEl Launcher's pre-packaged installation of RetroArch to load shaders and something somewhere is hard-disabling the feature to the point where it didn't even let me enable the feature until I replaced it with the latest nightly build. Very rarely I will actually get it to fully load CRT Royale but then it gets reset (likely by PL). What do I do and who is responsible for this?I've already tried caving and just using RetroArch normally but it doesn't like my NSO N64 controller at all, and PL also has that romhacking.com integration.
>>11979191>commercial emu was most soulfulkys retard
>>11978992>will introducing a Dual Sense fuk things up and create complications? Not unless you use DS4Windows + HidHide, then you're all set.
Is it me or is PCSX2 (I'm using nightly) getting enshittified? I've been getting worse performance than a year ago. Used to be able to run games at 3X internal resolution without stuttering, now even 2X chokes often. It's got to the point that even RA's LRPS2 outperforms it.
>>11979191Gay and homo because no Linux support.
Has anyone gone into autistic detail analyzing VHS noise the way they have NTSC and composite artifacts? I'm not finding much on Google, but surely it must exist.
>>11976836>tfw still on KEGA FusionLife's so simple and good, my friends.
>>11980098I found thishttps://github.com/oyvindln/vhs-decode/wiki/Visual-Video-Signal-Errorsif you're trying to do a shader I'd just watch some vaporwave videos on youtube and copy what they're doing, aesthetics are more important than realismalso I hate when I want to edit shader parameters and it's like trying to decipher an electrical engineering textbook
Reminder to play fullscreen as much as you can do, it enhances the immersion compared to having a smaller play field and a bunch of distracting shit all around itYou can spend a couple of hours without your Discord right anon?
>>11981860I don't need Discord when I can hang out here.
>>11981860but how else will I get my taxes, business emails, and youtube video essays done while I'm playing Wario Land 4™ for the Gameboy Advance™ on my Microsoft Windows 11™ Personal Computer?
>>11979286>>11976836Anyone here actually used bleem before? what was it like
what resolution monitor do you need to end ringing artifacts from curved scanlines?
>>11980098>Fake hipster version of what things used to be.Can't you fucking get a real VCR? and use that?https://youtu.be/CO-8yiQKrQk?feature=shared
>>11982261anon, please use your brain, the vhs aesthetic isn't about a pristine vhs tape, it's about a 12th generation recording of a recording, on extended mode, in a dirty vhs player, with certain elements exaggerated for presentation purposeshttps://youtu.be/UBKyXNON3DE
>>11982503Also home videos. There's a massive difference between the quality of the video produced by a home camcorder on cheap VHS tape that's likely been recorded over a dozen times and a VHS tape that came directly from Disney's manufacturing line with the video recorded onto it using professional equipment and an immaculate master copy.
>>11980212Now this is at a level of based of which I can only aspire.
>>11980098I heard that Jake Bartlett has a Skillshare course on the VHS look.
>>11976912This
>>11977953it pleases me to know I never gave one cent to that autistic frenchie
>>11982245First of all, depends on the shader and the content. You're more likely to have ringing artifacts from 480i/480p content than 240p. Stuff like integer scaling might have an effect. I think 1440p is fine. I played with a bunch of curved shaders on 1080p and only fake-crt-geom produced the effect, but at 1440p it looks fine
What's the best emulator for SNES on a PSP?
>>11982127There were a few games it specifically targeted that worked decent like Spyro, but the compatibility list was small and a lot of commercial games either didn't work or had issues. It ran really well on shit hardware though, I was playing Spyro full speed on my PIII 300.
>>11985361From a quick look at the emulation wiki:https://github.com/esmjanus/snes9xTYL
>>11985386Okay good. It's too bad there's nothing more optimized, but that's to be expected on a now abandoned platform. Maybe I'll get a steam deck.
>>11978964I'm getting similar results with Retroarch's Beetle Saturn so I'm thinking that's just how the game is. Yikes.
>>11986519Beetle Saturn is a Libretro port of Mednafen's Saturn emulation. They're practically the same thing
>>11986526Okay, but I tried in Virtua Cop and the results are perfect there, so I still don't think it's an emulation issue.Another thing I noticed is that in Virtua Cop when you shoot the result is immediate but in HotD it takes a small delay for the bullet to arrive House of the Dead just sucks! Also I tried every region/revision of the game and it's the same in all versions.Though I wonder if it's the same in the arcade and PC versions but I couldn't get the PC version to run not even with glide
.........does anyone know if emulationzone has had any luck restoring their servers since the power failure?
>>11986579I'd still be using Kega Fusion if it wasn't for two things: 1) the fast forward key is unuseable on modern hardware because it goes up to 3000% and 2) the muted colours on SMS games are horrible, pic related. I still had to use Fusion for this game because the bottom of the screen glitches in mednafen
>>11986664Mednafen colours for comparison (and glitched bottom of the screen)
>>11986667Dunno why you're using Mednafen instead of any of the recommended emulators:https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Master_System/Game_Gear_emulators
>>11987259I already had it installed
Fellas any of you have nice bezels for GBA on steam deck? The image feels a bit TOO big
>>11986667>>11986664>retard doesn’t know what color correction isas expected of emufags
>>11987906And what part of these posts makes you jump to that conclusion? You remind me of the assembly larper in the romhacking general who searched for any excuse to try and convince himself he was smarter than others. I can't imagine what low self esteem one must have to behave like that.
>>11987945trying too hard kid. come back when you’ve played a real console on a real tv. then you can try to lecture people
