I don't hesitate to credit feed when playing an arcade game that I consider 'unfair'. I don't feel bad about it either.
>unfairmeaningless buzzword
When an arcade game is too unfair, even for arcade standards, I just drop it instead of credit feeding, playing it just makes me mad and getting to the end will mean nothing. Sengoku 3 comes to mind, cool game, if only it wasn't such a quarter muncher slop balance-wise.

I'm kind of the opposite when it comes to this kind of stuff because I'm obsessed with making the experience as authentic as possible. The first time I played through earthbound I was playing it on the an emulator and there's a part where you have to stand in one place for like 5 minutes and I could have just fast forwarded the emulator but instead I just left the game running while I went into another room and made a pop tartSo my sin is being extremely autistic
Still can't true end Gimmick...
>>11980371That's fucked
>>11980359I've never played a Final Fantasy game beyond a few minutes of 4, 6, and 7
>>11980359I relentlessly savescum. I always use ammo cheats. I have no shame about this.
>>11980542>I relentlessly savescum. You and me both, brother
>>11980359>Confess Your Vidya SinsOk, here i go, I think only the following 4:1. I have used cheats in resident evil 1, resident evil 2 and resident evil 3 to have infinite bullets, so i could play "trigger happy" style.2. I have masturbated to the sexy fanservice female characters of the fighting games.3. I have used "save states" in very hard games like ninja gaiden.4. I have loved to punch women, blacks, LGBTs and other "oppressed" groups in "beat em up games".Wow, thinking it again, thats why old videogames are the best: they had everything that the trash modern games do not(retro games have fanservice, they are politically incorrect, etc.).
>>11980639Only the first one is a sin.
I have spoiled every adventure game I've ever played by looking up solutions.
>>11980359If I get stuck somewhere in an action game (e.g. can't make it past a certain part of a level, or defeat a boss) I look up a longplay online to see how someone else did it.
I refuse to play games without cheats built in. It's the main reason I stick to retro.
>>11980665>longplay online to see how someone else did it.The vast majority of """longplays""" on youtube are TAS. You're not looking at how someone else does it, you're looking at how someone did by reloading savestates over and over and then automatically editing out the reloads. It's often so fucking obvious too, like they pull things moves that are 1 in a hundred over and over that would have taken a speedrunner 1000 hours to get consistantly (after he "trained" with savestates too anyway).
The game suddenly goes from fairly easy to balls hard in the last area. I ended up just using save states. One of these days I want go back to do it legit.
>>11980359I play games at 50% speed now. I want comfy gaming not frantic stress outis it really cheating If my speed is halved too, the same as the enemies?
>>11980359And let me guess, every arcade game you've played so far is "unfair", right? My gaming sin: I use RGB and I like it over composite for 2D games. That's apparently a sin in the hobbyist forum known as /vr/, in which you have to reproduce the shittest conditions possible, unlike all other hobbyist hobbies
Retro games were superior to current games in all replayability, challenge, etc. Modern games are made for casuals because if the games are easier there is greater profit, that's why there are many movie games today. Today's games are not fun
>>11980359I've never finished a single RPG or Legend of Zelda game in my life. Unless you count the first Princess Remedy game, but that's not retro and not really an RPG either.
>>11980376>i'm obsessed with making the experience as authentic as possible>I played through [...] on the an emulator [sic]what did zoomerkun mean by this
>>11981225Play FATE or Dark Alliance. I'm not an RPGfag at all but these are too addictive to not finish.
>>11981308>anyone who doesn't buy overpriced flashcarts or, god forbid, an authentic fucking copy of Earthbound is a zoomerI mean you have a point, zoomers are genuinely smarter than braindead 30+ year old consoomers
>>11981225>zelda The only one I've played was Link's Awakening remake on the Switch. It was okay
>>11980359The whole point of an arcade is building the skill needed to be able to progress or complete it without putting quarters in, no shame in using as many credits as you need if it's your first playthrough and you're not familiar with the game but if it demands credits no matter how good you do you may need to check the difficulty switches or it could just be a poorly designed game.
>>11980359>I used save states to beat the Super Star Wars games, particularly Empire Strikes Back>I use Cody's infinite combo all the time while playing Final Fight>I have never beaten Arkham in DMC3 on Dante Must Die without using items and have no intention of doing soThe final one isn't even because I can't do it, it's just that I want the fucking fight to be over as soon as possible
>>119803591. I exclusively emulate, and I use RetroArch only to do that on all of my devices of choice.2. On RetroArch, I use and enjoy the XMB UI due to PS3 and PSP nostalgia.3. I use exaggerated CRT shaders with glow and curve effects..4. I'll give into save states and/or cheat codes sometimes when I'm filtered.5. My main devices for playing retro video games nowadays are my tablet and smartphone.
>>11980359>I always play in the easiest setting, unless I know there's a big unlockable when you beat the game on hard.>If I play a game for the first time and I don't like it, I force myself to beat it anyways.>If I've to locate skill points at the game's start, I check on guides which is the best build>I speed down a game if it gets way too frantic
>>11980639very ironic how spiderman in the 90s videogames used to punch and kick the woke mob(empowered women, blacks, etc.) but in modern games he is a bootlicker of the woke agenda.
I played Megaman 3, tried to jump over the first pit. An enemy sprung up and dropped me straight into the pit. I think that's all the information I needed from the game and haven't booted up a Megaman game again.
>>11981308He said as authentic as possible, not 100% authentic.
>>11980359I dislike every type of RPG.
>>11980359Despite playing for over a decade or so, never have I ever fully beaten an "Iron Man" Fire Emblem run. A run in which when your unit dies, its gone Forever. Not only that, but you cant restart, or save state scum. I've been playing Fire Emblem 7 the most and I've never played it the "proper" way, ie not restarting or save stating. Also, I have no idea what to do on game overs, or when a lord or main character dies. I usually just restart the game and Ive been doing that for a decade, still cant beat it that way.

>>11982673>>I always play in the easiest setting, unless I know there's a big unlockable when you beat the game on hard.>>I speed down a game if it gets way too franticSame here, i usually play games in easy mode. Also, games like metal gear solid or final fantasy i sometimes skip dialogues because they end being too long and boring.
>>11983438Atleast you're trying, anon. I wanted to do this with a stealth game, but I fear I've grown too impatient with the genre.
>>11980359I always use savestates and I still consider the game beaten
i never played warcraft 2 without using the 'onscreen' cheat
>>11985327>i never played warcraft 2 without using the 'onscreen' cheatIn Starcraft 1 and in warcraft 3 i often use the money cheat.
I broke my copy of Sonic Schoolhouse because my friend wanted to.
Even though I play a ton of retro vidya, there are very few games I enjoy. More so than anything made post 2008, but the most fun I've had was with the surface level titles (ie: Mega Man and Sonic). Most games I just force myself through because I don't like them on the backlog.
>>11980359I'm happy that I've played the game if I get to the end of the last level. I don't really care about any completionist stuff, or whether I 100% it.I'm also perfectly happy to use emulation savestates to get to this point if the game doesn't have them, has a save system I judge to be annoying, or only has passwords.
>>11980639multiracial neon punk crime gangs were never politically incorrect.
>>11980650Yup - this one too. And I still enjoyed them.
>>11980359I jerked off to the gerudos in oot in-game, I took a break, and just wanked it. I couldn't help it. I discovered I had a fetish for tall brown muscular women through that game.
>>11980359I hack in all pokemon on gb/gbc/ds/3ds games that cannot be obtained normally or through in game trades and whatnot. If you'd count that as a sin. Otherwise, I get them all normally.
>>11987148The ironic part is, the minorities groups and the left wing groups too used to be represented as the villains in retro 90s games, but now they are represented as the heroes in modern trash games.
>>11981345Zoomers have never known authenticity because they've grown up in a world that has been stripped of it completely. Their entire existence is a form of simulacra. Emulators, online relationships, online friends, streaming, endlessly recycled hand me down media, uninspired and derivative synthetic music, electric cars, fake processed food, recycled fashion trends. They have to watch all the girls their age be bpd sluts with ugly hearts who do everything for clout. They don't even get to have real opinions or be themselves, because if they are "cringe" they will be filmed and put on the internet because social peer pressure is at an all time high. And they don't even know what things were like before. It's just 24/7 propaganda and simulacra. And if you tell them this they can only spout a meaningless catch phrase of some sort that they didn't make up, because they've even been robbed of sincerity. It's sad.

>>11991961Where are they?
I dont finish 90% of games I start. even when Im really enjoying them. I get near the end, sometimes right up to the final boss, and just stop. most of the time I wont even attempt the last boss at all, or try once and drop the game. I have no idea why im like this. for me to actually finish a game, it basically has to be one of my favorites of all time. and even then, half the times I play through it, I wont actually go all the way. if theres a post game, forget about it. theres like 3 games ever made i like enough to 100%. there are some games Ive played through 3 or more times, have gotten all the way to final area, but have never finished it. sometimes I will drop it 75% through. but almost never see the credits. recently I played parasite eve and vagrant story for the first time and was so impressed I actually beat them (gave up on their post game, to be fair they are a total slog). but then I tried getting through dqvii and legend of dragoon and went right back to my old ways, after putting in 50+ hours in each. I just did another ffvii run and now Im on the third disc doing random sidequests, and I can feel myself moving on already. I hate it.
when I play dkc2 I save scum the bullshit boss fights and levels i hate. the big bee boss fight for example.

>>11980359I like 3D games more than 2D games
for a long time I thought crt shaders were retarded and sharp pixels were just obviously superior until a few /vr/ threads made me see the light. now raw pixels give me physical repulsion. I grew up with crts.
I love upscaling/uprezing and widescreen hacks. anything low poly and even gen 6 just looks so much better at 3x resolution. didnt really think this one was controversial until I started coming here.
upscalers with oled are peak if you don't have access to or cannot fit a crt (i live in a tiny nipponese apartment)dkc3 > 1 > 2 imogoemon should've been more popular in the west
>>11980542I did that to beat RE 1 2 and 3 on hard. Regret nothing.
I rubbed it to coco from Crash Bandicoot 3 before I learned even how to jerk off.Thankfully I am not a furry nor tranimefag so dodged a bullet there.
I use the all weapons cheat in Hexen constantly because the centaurs and underwater monsters are IMPOSSIBLE to deal with without a Wraithverge.I don't think I hated any enemy more than those.

Then I segregate my settlements by race and further divide them by who provides what resource, etc. where every settler is basically an indentured servant, or serf. Then I customize my army via item duplication and build my Castle, from which I rule as the Supreme overlord of the Commonwealth. Of course, crucial to this strategy is going aggro against every faction towards the end of the game. What's awesome is Fallout 4 can really be any game for anyone.
>>11988974I'm a zillenial and I totally felt the culture change after the mid 2010s. >>11988941It also depends on the country that made the game. Final Fight is a japanese game, and it's not like they snicker amongst themselves and go "hehehe, we put minority as villain". It's more like "OK, videogame take prace in america. Who is bad in america? Brack peopre commit crime, OK, we put brack enemy arongside white. Give him sungrasses to rook tough rike yakuza" (look it up, the japanese citizenry don't wear sunglasses) and they most certainly have no qualms with putting fat fucks like me as villains in their games. Remember, the government literally mandates body fitness and wellness checks in most companies. You are supposed to be THIN in japan. If you're not, you're making a mockery of the system. That's just how things are.

>>11995052Social media was an afterthought in 2007 and smartphones only got really big post iPhone 4 (2010).When these things showed up, they didn't instantly ruin the world, that's a very autistic thing to say or think. It took many years for a whole generation of people to get ruined by what social media and phones became, that's why you could only feel a clear culture shift after a few years.I'd say 2014 is when things started feeling different, which coincided with the iPhone 6's launch, which is Apple's best selling device ever.
